View 4 RepliesI want to run a dj tango app on a hand-held device. It'll need to run Python (obviously) and will write its data to an SQLite database. Are there any tablets available that will let me do this? Specifically, if I bought an Android tablet, would I have to/be able to install Linux instead, or would I be able to run it under Android?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know there is a TON of info on Root... but i have been reading and reading. and some info is just too tetchy and over my head. so I end up confused. I have a few question I would like to know before I root. (I will be using these instructions : http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/53963-guide-stock-1-5-latest-root-2-1-a.html ). Will rooting my phone make it different? I have read about loosing sense, different ROM options... i really dont understand this. Will my phone basically have a different GUI? Different look to the menus, settings, etc? Can I root and stay on 1.5? A few threads here have convinced me to wait for the OTA. So of course my next question will this root affect the ability for my phone to receive the OTA update? (assuming it ever comes).

1st fault, phone arrived but couldn't get past white boot screen - I suspect they hadn't tested it and sent me a bricked handset
2nd fault, usb connection completely failed. Tried all the steps, they told me too send it back.. suspect they sent me a reconned phone back out
3rd fault, wifi has been basically non-existant on the handset, can stand next to the access point and get poor to no signal.. tried on several APs
Wonder if they'll send me a Nexus one to appologise.Damn you HTC - and the worse thing is, the cat calls from the iSheep users in the office who take much delight in my pain! "You should have got an iPhone nah nah nah"
I'm making my first App, and it's going to basically be an info app. I have absolutely no Java knowledge, but I know enough HTML/CSS to make a good looking mobile website. Is there any simple way I can display the mobile webpage, and not let the user know the URL or anything like that, while keeping it functional and responsive?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use "Palm VNC" to control my computers via my Palm TX; this is most useful for one particular pc as I can use the Palm's touch screen to activate commands rather than the mouse on the pc. A quick point with a finger and the command fires rather than picking up the mouse, moving to the required spot on the screen then clicking. Even more useful when I am at the other end of the room and need to fire the command. I see that there are many VNC apps for Android/Desire. What is the forum's experience of the various VNC apps?

Those stations will have no computing or storage or networking capabilities. They will only contain a keyboard, a mouse or touch pad, and a viewing monitor. They will simply receive input from the user and send it to the phone, and display or sound the output.Such docking stations will exist at home, school, work, airports and other public places.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm developing on multiple computers. If I deploy to my phone directly from Eclipse on one computer, I can't deploy from the other without uninstalling first. I'm assuming this is because there is a debug certificate being used to sign the app, and they're not the same across the two machines. Is it possible to copy one over to the other so that Eclipse is using the same one on both machines?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've searched and have been unable to find a solution to this problem. Actually its with my wife's phone, we both have Moments, mine works great but hers frequently (not all the time) doesn't shut off during phone calls. At first I thought she was just holding it strange but I have seen it for myself and its quite frustrating. The biggest issue is that its an intermittent problem so of course it never happens when at the Sprint store asking about replacing the phone. I did the recent update to the phone and it still does it. Any way to fix this short of getting a new one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with the touchscreen. After the phone wakes, the home button will be phantomly held. The app switcher will keep coming up, apps will randomly close (as in the home button being pressed). Swype confirms that there's a held input at the home button. Sometimes the lockscreen won't unlock (screen won't register, probably because the home button phantom press is overriding other input). I've tried this without the charger, in and out of my hand. Using stock battery, OEM charger. Also tried on official Verizon stock 2.2, cyanogenmod, fourth wave, and virtuous.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy employer is having me work on an android application with very specific UI requirements. Specifically, we need an interface that looks exactly like a TabWidget interface. However, having the tabs on the left hand side is an absolute must. We aren't going to be deploying this application to any android phones, its for an in house device, and as such don't have any problem violating any design considerations that the android platform might have.
We already have a working prototype that hacks together the functionality we need using a combination of focus listeners and list views. It isn't pretty, and we aren't very confident in it just yet, but it works for the time being.
What we'd really like is to throw all of our prototype UI code away in exchange for using the built in TabWidget. However, since TabWidget is hardcoded to only work with the tabs on top, this isn't really an option.
So, we are hoping that someone out there has a patch, or set of patches, or perhaps a custom class, that handles the TabWidget functionality with the tabs on the side instead?
The relevant code for the TabWidget is here: http://www.google.com/codesearch/p?hl=en#uX1GffpyOZk/core/java/android/widget/TabWidget.java&q=android%20package:git://android.git.kernel.org%20lang:java%20tabwidget&sa=N&cd=1&ct=rc
And the specific function that is hardcoded for being tabs on top is

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was unable to find much information regarding compatibility of the Samsung Galaxy with MAC computers. On behalf of the small number of MAC users in this forum, I made a call to Samsung tech support re: how to do the Frodo update with a MAC computer. I was told that the Galaxy phone is PC based and, at present, Samsung does not have a plan to port Kies to OS X. In order to install the Frodo update when it is available, if we don't have an application such as Parallels or Virtual PC, we will have to borrow a PC to do the job.

Is this possible?

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect my phone to my computers (Win 7 or 2 XP machines) it always connects as A/C and not as USB. I downloaded the Samsung USB drivers and this worked on the Win 7 machine for a while but then started connected as A/C again. Un-installed and installed the drivers again but they do now work now. The Samsung drivers did not work on either of the XP machines. So, as of now I think it is the phone? I do have the Power Manager app installed and the phone still connects as A/C with it running or not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having some 4G issues so I was taking a look at my signal strength today and noticed that if I cover the top/back of the phone (i.e. over the camera) with my hand the signal drops from about ~90 dBm to ~100 dBm. As soon as I move my hand down goes back to about 90 dBm. FYI, this is happening while I am on 3G not 4G. Are others EVO owners seeing the same drop in signal due to hand placement?
