I have a Nexus One connected to my computer via USB cable. Is it possible to have Nexus One route all TCP/IP traffic via my computer's internet connection? This is like reverse tethering I guess.

I have a [rooted] novo 7 Basic (running android 3.2) that I need to reverse tether to an ubuntu machine - through USB
Because this tablet (and other tablets) are not 'phones' - they don't have a native tethering option (which is required for most of the reverse tethering examples that are out there)
I can work with the device through adb - tried setting up a tunnel but I can't get any usb interface to show up with ifconfig
Maybe there is a way to just do it through abd with some ubuntu network configuration?

Since I dont have an unlimited data plan I wanted to reverse teather my phone to my PC,so my phone acts like a router for masking traffic from my ps3 to the internet. If that doesn't work,I could set up Tor on my computer to transfer traffic from Android Tool to a foreign server.
Btw setting up proxy on my ps3 doesnt work for the store itself

Today I used the Reverse Tethering tool from here and it worked fine, but to my surpries after that my 3g connection is not working. I switch it on and nothing happens. My APN configuration is correct (the same I had before).. these are the logs I am getting when I switch on the 3g:

PC is running Windows 7 x64. Phone is an HTC HD2 running JellyBean AOSP from NAND. I know Wifi would be easiest, but this is a work PC and company policy is we are not allowed to run our own Wifi networks.
I managed to connect the HD2 to the PC via Bluetooth with a PAN network, it only worked when I turned on Internet Tethering on the phone. this makes the HD2 into the server and PC into the client so PC can use phone's internet connection. I need the reverse! I need HD2 to be the client, PC to be the server. I found a Bluetooth PAN client from the Play store, but it can't connect via PAN to the PC. I assume because the MS BT stack only has a PAN client and not server. Is there such a thing as a PAN server for PC? I've looked at Widcomm and Bluesoleil BT stacks, but neither specifically mentions having a PAN server.
I found this tutorial that sounds promising, using DUN instead of PAN: URL....It's for reverse tethering an Android device to another Android device. Looks like BlueVPN on the Android side will do what I want, be a DUN client. However, similar problem to PAN, I can't find a DUN server. It's apparently not built into the MS BT stack either.
Is it even possible to reverse tether an Android phone to PC over Bluetooth? Only other idea I can think of is to use an intermediate device as a bridge. USB reverse tether a phone to PC, and use phone's Bluetooth tethering abilities to tether my bluetooth phone to it.
Which WiFi dongle will work for Reverse tethering so that my PC internet can be access my by Phone via Wifi dongle.

For my job, I need to connect via VPN to get access to my work's intranet. I can do that fine in Windows on my pc or my work laptop. I was hoping to do this via Android and the Cisco AnyConnect program. Unfortunately my company doesnt have the license for Cisco AnyConnect mobile so I cannot connect directly via android.
Is it at all possible to connect and share the connection via my home pc that is connected via VPN via the internet somehow? Meaning, can I have VPN running at home and if I am away, connect through the internet and get the VPN tunnel to my android so I can connect to the work websites through the Android browser? Or access my shared network drive?
Only other option I see is using Team Viewer of Splash Desktop to connect as a remote session, but that is not preferable .
My desk at work is basically in a cellular dead zone. No Wi-Fi either... But I was wondering, I have a brand new Mac Pro with bluetooth capability and AirPort (and USB, of course). I have a hunting club where I only get cell phone service, no internet connection, so I downloaded Easytether and am actually using it right now and it works great. My question is, I only get service in one of the rooms to use it and would like to use it in the living room. Is there anyway to do this? Do they make a longer usb/ally charger so I could leave my phone in the room and take the computer in the living room? It doesn't seem like easytether offers bluetooth. I tried bluetooth on pdanet but cannot get it to work b/c it's too confusing for me. I can get my device pair and connected but it only connects for media/phone and won't connect when I try to dial up from computer. Ok that's long enough and confusing enough for yall.

View 35 Replies View RelatedI've just noticed that I no longer get a notification of "Charge Only" in the top bar when I plug my HTC in to my PC via the USB cable!
I've gone into the settings for "Connect to PC" and it doesn't matter what I select, I still cant connect to use "HTC Sync" or "Disk drive" and yet the orange light comes on and the battery indicator says it IS charging!
I used to have it set to charge only and if I wanted to sync or copy to the SD card, I'd just drag down the top bar that lists widget locker and my mobile internet usage and I could select it and choose what I wanted to do - only now there is nothing there to select!
I've today replaced the trial power widget with the "Widgetsoid switcher" - could that have something to do with it? - I've tried adding USB connection and USB tethering and they dont seem to work either!
I've had WiFi tethering for awhile now, but I have never got it to work properly. The problem is that I will have, say, my laptop, or any device for that matter, connected to my Droid and I am able to maintain a steady internet connection for about a minute. After that, the tethering application reports a download speed of 0.0kbps. If I disconnect my laptop (or other device) and reconnect it, it'll start to work again, but only for about another minute. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
View 5 Replies View Relatedanyone else having this problem? using 2.1 under caulkin's kernel. it seems like I can kind of overload the phone doing too much and the mobile network connection on my phone will disappear completely. this is while downloading something that may download too fast, sometimes it happens loading .GIF images too. I'll have to restart the phone to get the internet back. this happens no matter if I'm using wireless, USB or bluetooth tethering.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted 2.1, it's been working perfectly since I rooted and updated and all.I love how fast and responsive everything is now.BUT one of the main reasons I rooted was so that I could take advantage of the wifi tethering.It works sometimes.sometimes great.BUT if I try to go to facebook.it'll work well sometimes, then others it won't even load the page.then eventually just kills my connection. gmail seems to have the same reaction.works sometimes, other times, nothing. i dont seem to have much of a problem surfing other sites.HOWEVER if i try to download anything over like 4MB big...my connection just gets killed all together, and nothing works. a friend of mine sent me his bands new demos...the zip file is like 35MB.it only gets a little ways before just dropping down to 0.0kbs and then it just sits there, not loading crap. I can re start the connection, and it will start downloading again, but after about 30 or 40 seconds.the connection gets killed again. Same goes for a torrent...if I try to download a torrent, it'll work and get pretty fast, up to 190kbs.but after just under a minute, connection killed. why is this? does verizon kill data connections that come in to fast or something? i have a friend who tethers with at&t with his iphone, he got the demos downloaded in like 12 min on his iphone tethering app. do i need to do some tweaking to my phone so I can download? im not trying to go crazy, but I'd like to atleast be able to get large attachments and such.

Is there a way to give the PC access to the phone's IPv6 internet connection?
I'm assuming that we can't give the PC a public IPv6 address, because the phone is probably only allotted one IPv6 address from the carrier; plus they might treat your plan differently or something if you try to claim another IP address (it's an unnecessary complexity)
So what we actually need to do is, to create a NAT IPv6 space on the device, just like we do for IPv4 when we tether, and provision an IP to the PC that way. Then we have to do something for DNS; I guess we can use OpenDNS's AAAA servers.
Do any of the existing tethering methods support this at all, or is this something I'd have to do manually? Also, is it possible even in theory on Android 2.3, or is it known that a newer version of Android will enable it?
What i want is my computer to use my phones connection to access the internet is this possible? i get an ad hoc connection but i cant get my computer onto the internet.

A quick point with a finger and the command fires rather than picking up the mouse, moving to the required spot on the screen then clicking. I'm assuming this is because there is a debug certificate being used to sign the app, and they're not the same across the two machines. Is it possible to copy one over to the other so that Eclipse is using the same one on both machines?
