View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rooted and will soon install a new ROM and kernel which I understand requires a factory reset. There are certain things I want to backup before doing and know of Titanium Backup and MyBackup but wasn't sure if one or the other could do everything I needed. This what I'd like backed up I think that covers everything. Can anyone tell me if either Titanium or MyBackup can do all of this? Anything else I should want backed up (that isn't already by Google) but not thinking of?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if there is a good or proper way to back up my apps before doing a factory reset? I'm not too worried about contacts as that should be saved ala google just have a lot of apps (all free) And hoping i dont have to go back and re-dl them all.
View 34 Replies View RelatedI'm not so worried about contacts since vzw does it for me BUT what about apps and my pictures/videos?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I installed the Evil Eris v3 thingamajig using the Rooting for dummies thread. But I wanna go back, so will a factory reset take care of that for me?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor the noobs What is the difference? And how do you do both?
Had my HTC Wildfire for about a month now and enjoyed it immensely. I've installed tons of apps and tried as much stuff as I could. Unfortunately now my phone has started restarting at random intervals. Middle of the night, at noon, you never know. This of course annoys me and I see no other option than to do a factory reset(If anyone has an idea what the cause could be I'd love to hear it.)But, having spent a month setting everything up just the way I like it, I squirm a bit when thinking about a factory reset. From what I understand all my apps can be redownloaded quite easily from the market - but what about those I didn't get from the market? Sounds like a lot of hassle potentially Also, contacts, Gmail/facebook linking, browser bookmarks, settings etc. - is there any way I can save all these for easy installation afterwards? I'm only thinking of a factory reset because of the restarts and because I feel the phone has become a little sluggish and I don't know what else to do to fix it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I'm still fairly new to Android (Incredible's my first Android devide), and was skeptical about install the RUU (thanks for the guide, true!). But when I read that others who had used the OTA or update.zip sometimes had to do a factory reset as well, I figured using RUU wouldn't hurt. In fact I believe (IMO, which has no technical backing) that RUU may be better than OTA/update.zip, because like upgrading an OS on a computer, a fresh install is better that upgrading over a previous OS. Anyway enough of that. My biggest hang-up was backing-up my apps, contacts & text messages (realizing that settings couldn't be saved, no matter what I tried). Since I had never rooted/done anything with my Incredible prior to this, I was also worried about losing apps that I paid for. Now while the following may seem basic to most of you, I know I would have loved to have had this information prior to my RUU update, just to put my mind at ease. So, to anyone out there who's on the fence, check this out. This does not save 3rd party apps. If you have those, you'll need to back those up using ASTRO or App Monster* Before anything else, download AppBrain App Market (it's in the Market). Open the app, and click on "Manage my apps", then sign-in using your Gmail account. Once it's set, click on the "Sync with AppBrain" button on the bottom left side. Then, you can go to www.appbrain.com, log-in with your Gmail account there, and see all of your apps (under "My Apps" at the top) accounted for on your phone (this is also a great place to find new apps, but that's for a different time). Once you've basically accounted for all your apps on AppBrain, you're good to go with free apps.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I was trying the battery trick where you turn it off while plugged in then turn it back on. I turned it off and then wasn't able to turn it back on, so I took it off the charger (wall outlet) and held down the power button. Phone turned back on but was in setup mode, everything was gone, settings email programs, everything. I decided to restart it one more time, everything came back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt seems a lot of us are having issues after upping to 2.2. Someone suggested hard reset. My question is simple, will hard reset "restore" EVO back to factory settings, AKA 2.1? I mean when you bought the phone, 2.1 is "baked" in the internal memory. When you update to 2.2, will 2.2 also be "baked" in internal memory so that whenever you hard reset you will always go to 2.2 status? I think it is, but please clarify?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I hard reset my phone, does that erase the SD card back to factory too? I need to know so I can backup everything on the sd to my desktop first if necessary. And one more question, how do I hard reset my phone to get it back to factory settings. Also, what will happen to my paid apps? I actually paid for Beautiful Widget and when I restore, I don't want to use the same Gmail to set up my contacts as before cuz that account gets too much spam.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think I done something wrong with my rooted htc one X. I wanted to sell it and didn't think of doing harm when I deleted all the files off the phone and factory reset it. Lost my backups and I can't even boot it now anymore.
Found this [URL] .... and I'm wondering if it would be alright to follow that guide and hopefully get the phone to boot again?
okay, this is really frustrating. i got my 2.2 today, and then i did a factory reset. everything is great except i can't seem to get my keyboard to change to swype. i have it installed, and i select it as my keyboard, but i cannot get it to come up. i have the official beta, and i also have a modified version with microphone, and i've tried both, neither is being recognized. does anyone know how to get my phone to use the swype keyboard when i have selected the damn thing? is there an additional setting i have to find? it's not app specific, either, i've checked several things, handcent, internet, mail, whatever. stock keyboard is all i get.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI will acknowledge that this is very insignificant, but for some reason it is driving me crazy. When I first got this phoe, I deleted the original espn, cnn and facebook shortcuts that came preloaded on the right screen. I have since come to realize that I check espn A LOT and I wanted the shortcut back there. So I added a bookmark, but the original icon that came preloaded just looked a lot better, does anyone know if there is a way to get the original icon back without doing a factory reset?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know there was a bulletin on not to do it if you had 2.1, but I was rooted using SS4.6. I had switched ROMs, between about three of them the past week, and didn't do a full wipe, just to be safe. But the phone was starting to get real slow, regardless of the ROM, so I just did a factory reset using Clockwork Recovery and now I don't seem to be getting 3G anymore. I can still get data, just at 1X. It'll say "3G" when idle, but once I'm browsing, it bumps down to 1X again. This couldn't possibly be what was suggested not to do for 2.1 owners, was it? Despite being on 2.2?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried both ways. Settings, privacy, reset.Home plus power button while the phone is off.(Sd card is removed by the way)On the system recovery screen it says E:can't open /cache/recovery/commandI've tried using wipe cache partition then wipe and just wipe. It still goes back to my last settings. Even my wallpaper which is of a picture of my son is on there.
View 5 Replies View RelatedPlease help. Ever since official update that sprint did at the store it seems the stock browser will foreclose. The only way I can get it to be stable is by going to google search that came with 2.1. Anyone have a suggestion....if I factory reset it works then goes back to foreclosing
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Orange UK branded HTC Desire HD running stock firmware & NOT rooted. Since the fairly recent 2.3.5 update with Sense 3.0 I have found that I am regularly seeing Sense restart upon exiting an app and returning to the home screen. This is not related to a particular app, as it can happen when returning to home from ANY app. My wife is seeing the same behaviour on hers too.
Having posted on both HTC's & Orange's Facebook pages, I have been advised in no uncertain terms that as a first step I should perform a factory reset.
This is something that I have not done since I got my DHD (my 1st Android - plenty of hard resets on WM ). I have had a bit of a tidy up - clearing unnecessary data, uninstalling apps I don't use, etc. Pretty much ready to reset (but aware that there is SOME data that I will lose). However, there is one thing that I am unsure about...
I have previously moved a number of apps to the SD card. If I leave them there, will the existing data be recognised upon reinstalling the apps? Or will it cause me problems? Or will the existing data just be orphaned? I.e. should I move all apps back to the phone before performing the reset?
Is there any way to factory reset without going to settings > etc.I tried to original Droid method but press the camera and volume up buttons didn't work.
View 4 Replies View Relatedsome people are saying that a factory reset can help with the lagging after the 2.2 update.. is it ok to do the factory reset with my phone being rooted??? is there any steps i should take before i do the reset?? i get that i should prolly back up the phone settings and what not which i will also have to figure out.. but lets just start with the first question... will factory resetting my phone that is rooted screw anything up?
View -1 Replies View RelatedSo I installed PandaBeta for the Droid, and although it was cool, I uninstalled it because it was lacking the features I really wanted (it is in beta after all). After I uninstalled it, my phone has been acting semi goofy, and I noticed there are some new things that show up in Taskiller that weren't there before:
1.) Google Partner Setup (I don't even know what this is)
2.) com.google.android.apps.maps:FriendService
3.) Bluetooth Share (I never use bluetooth)
4.) com.weather.Weather:gadgetPrivateProcess
5.) Voice Dialer
6.) com.Twidroid:remote
Now I don't know if those are supposed to be there, but if they are supposed to be there, they were never there UNTIL I installed PandaBeta. My big issue though is I have noticed my phone acting semi weird (could have just been a fluke). I just made a 1 hour phone call and when I went to hangup, the screen never woke up. So I hit the unlock button, nothing happened. I open the keyboard, nothing happened. The phone was on because when I opened the keyboard, the keyboard was backlit. This never happened before the uninstall. Anyway, is there anyway to restore the Droid to the initial state? In other words a factory reset of the OS? I don't care if I loose all data, since everything I have is on the Google Cloud anyway.
I just factory reset due to all the problems i was having on 2.2. When it started up, I got a welcome to droid screen, about how to use my droid and set it up. When I got my phone the first time I never got any of this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Motorola Droid from some1 today off of craigslist and I took it to verizon to have it activated which was fine. But when verizon tried doing a reset it didn't work. All the previous guys stuff is still on it. And because of that I can't get rid of his email address so I can't access the market to get apps because I don't know his password. It seems he put a Launcher2 Mod on it and I can't get it off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo Option 1 doesn't do anything except for telling me to contact a CSR. Option two gives me the music and tells me it can't activate the phone and gives me a 1800 number that does little for me at 3 in the morning.
