I'm trying to add buttons above a tab-widget but they are always displayed under the tab-widget's tabs. The buttons are displayed on front layer so that they appear on each tab. Does anybody have an idea is it possible at all to display any widgets above the tab-widget?

I have a widget layout xml which sets the src to the delivered android widget 4x1 frame image.Here is the widget layout code...
@drawable/widgetinitial holds the widgetinitial.png image example 4x1 at developer.android.com (AppWidget design guidelines).(4x1_Widget_Frame_Portrait.psd) What I am trying to do is display an image inside the delivered frame instead what happens is the frame image goes away and only the image I am trying to display shows up. How can I display the image inside the bounding box or the background?
Another question - I think I saw in a couple of forums AbsoluteLayout is a deprecated feature for Android 2.1 and above. Is that correct? and does using AbsoluteLayout throws any force close or other exceptions?
Is it possible to disable a button on a Cupcake desktop widget? When I attempt to use the RemoteViews.setBoolean(myButtonId, "setEnabled", false) approach, I get an error saying that calling "setEnabled" is not permitted via RemoteViews. The current Google Search widget disables the search button until a user enters text, then the button is disabled. Is this only allowed for "special widgets", or is there an approach available to third- party widgets? More generally, is there a list somewhere of the allowed / disallowed calls to widget views via the RemoteViews.set<Type>() approach? I've also encountered that "setSelected" and some others are not allowed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can write a widget with a Button or ImageButton and assign a StateDrawable as background or sourcein order to make an effect when you click it. Besides that I have problems with the side of each button, my main problem is this: how do I change the StateDrawable if I want to change the image of the button from the AppWidgetProvider but still want to preserve the click effect like a StateDrawable. The power control widget in Android does things like that.

I know I should be using the method ContactsContract.QuickContact.showQuickContact(), but it requires a View or a Rect as one of the input parameters. My problem is that Widgets only have RemoteViews, so I'm no sure what to pass as the View or Rect parameter.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo since the 2.1 OTA my weather widget will display the city, but no weather icon. if i sync it manually, it will show up. with 1.5 it would update every 3 hours, regardless if i had Background data on or off (i normally keep it off).
so now with 2.1 it wont sync unless i have BG data on, or do it manually. any way around this?

I'm trying to display my battery life on the lockscreen but the widget i have (BatteryLife by CurveFish) does not work. It just shows a depleted battery icon and says "loading" while it never does load. It works fine on my regular home screen but I'd like to have one that is compatible with WL too. Also... i have limited space on my current lockscreen, so my ideal battery widget would only take up 1x1 space. Is there such a thing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Hero on Orange for 4 or 5 days now and apart from when I first switched on the phone the weather app has just said "No weather data available" and the clock/weather widget has just had my location. I have the "location by cell" thing switched on, and I did manage to get it working once with the GPS, but other than that it just displays my location. It's the same whatever location I am in. The other cities download the weather just fine (London, Paris, New York, etc.). It's not like I'm somewhere tiny either, I am in Bromley. It doesn't make any difference whether I'm using WiFi or 3G.

I need to determine the screen density at runtime in an Android App Widget. I've set up an HDPI emulator device (avd). If set up a regular executable project, and insert this code into the on Create method: Similarly, if I get a resource at runtime using the Resources object obtained from context.get Resources() in the App Widget, it returns the wrong resource based on screen density. For instance, I have a 60x60px drawable for mdpi, and an 80x80 drawable for hdpi. If I get this Drawable object using context.get Resources().getDrawable(...), it returns the 60x60 version. Is there any way to correctly deal with resources at runtime from the context of an App Widget?

As it stands, the application Im writing has 4 different screens:
1. Screen 1 - list of nodes (main screen)
2. Screen 2 - options menu, tableLayout with buttons
3. Screen 3 - navigation
4. Screen 4 - text details on version etc
These screens can be navigated to/from using a "header" View that is placed on top. the header then has 4 different buttons:

The header is just an XML-file (header.xml) with a few buttons. That header.xml is the included in the Layouts using the include-markup. For example, the main.xml has the line:
<include layout="@layout/header"></include>
The header show up alright, but the question is - what is the correct approach to attach OnClickListeners for the buttons in the header?
Christopher pointed out that you could create an Activity class and do the hooks there, like this:

Secondly, is this the right way to go at it?
