Is it possible to disable a button on a Cupcake desktop widget? When I attempt to use the RemoteViews.setBoolean(myButtonId, "setEnabled", false) approach, I get an error saying that calling "setEnabled" is not permitted via RemoteViews. The current Google Search widget disables the search button until a user enters text, then the button is disabled. Is this only allowed for "special widgets", or is there an approach available to third- party widgets? More generally, is there a list somewhere of the allowed / disallowed calls to widget views via the RemoteViews.set<Type>() approach? I've also encountered that "setSelected" and some others are not allowed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to add buttons above a tab-widget but they are always displayed under the tab-widget's tabs. The buttons are displayed on front layer so that they appear on each tab. Does anybody have an idea is it possible at all to display any widgets above the tab-widget?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can write a widget with a Button or ImageButton and assign a StateDrawable as background or sourcein order to make an effect when you click it. Besides that I have problems with the side of each button, my main problem is this: how do I change the StateDrawable if I want to change the image of the button from the AppWidgetProvider but still want to preserve the click effect like a StateDrawable. The power control widget in Android does things like that.

Searched the forums and couldn't find anything...I was wondering if anyone knew of a program/widget/workaround for this: I have auto sync turned off. I don't need my email to refresh every some odd minutes, and having auto sync off extends battery life. However, I would like a quick way to do a 'manual' sync, instead of turning auto sync on, waiting 30 seconds, and turning it off. Ideally, I'd love a 1x1 widget that I could press to do a google sync (gmail, calendar, contacts). Does anyone know of anything?

Basically, i want to place four buttons near the top/left/bottom/right edge of the screen. AbsoluteLayout helped, but it is deprecated (It is also better to avoid AbsoluteLayout as it is not very flexible for orientation changes)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've not found an answer yet which does exactly what my current software (MobSync) does with my Windows Mobile device. What I want to do is auto-sync a podcasts folder, and its subfolders, from my PC over to my new HTC Desire-Z via Wi-Fi. I've found a few programs that appear to be able do this task fine, but I'm not sure which of them can do a full sync, i.e. including echoing deletes back to the PC.
What I need is for the software to periodically copy any new podcasts found in the PC folder over to the phone (OK, that bit is easy). However when I've listened to the podcast and deleted it from the phone's folder, I want the sync software to neatly delete the same file from the PC too.
I tried google and forum search on this but can't find it. I read somewhere that the Power bar is a resource hog, and I'd be better off with individual widgets for each. Problem is, I can't figure out how to make a WiFi widget work through tasker. I get the icon, and set it to be WiFi toggle, but it doesn't actually do anything.

I know there are several widgets which turn auto sync on off (e.g. the power control widget) and disable data connections altogether (apndroid, quick settings, etc), but that's not what I need. I searched the market, google and this forum but couldn't find anything.The only workaround I found was to create a shortcut to "account & sync" using "any cut". Not a widget, but close enough.Is there a widget, or a better way to do this?

However the widget does not do anything when clicked, and appears to not be clickable. This is the body of the .java code, if it helps to post any of the other code please let me know.

After waiting months and prepping by joining android forums and downloading various applications I found that the small bit lethal disagreements of not being able to properly sync iCal/contacts, wifi not connecting to networks in the same room and the biggest issue of them all, 1 phone bar in your house and outside of your house, making the use of such a wonderful device like buying a car without wheels�what�s the sense (pun intended). I just don�t get how after such advancements in technology how such well thought out devices like Mac�s OS and a open source OS like Android can�t get along. Millions are invested in R&D in these OS and devices. And things like contacts and calendar should be simple enough to play with any OS. Still I looked past those issues until I ran into the wifi issues at home. I am a techie at heart and a finance database programmer by day. So, when I say that my wifi setup at home should be able to connect to any b/g/n capable chip, I am not doing any guessing here. My EVO just would not get more than one bar, and I updated the firmware on my wireless network even when all of the other devices work perfectly well with my setup.

Situation: On airplane with in flight wireless. Want to allow wireless, but disallow cellular, including 2g/3g data.
I have the HTC widget for wi-fi access being turned on and off placed on one of my homescreens. The widget allows wi-fi to be on or off.When clicking the wi-fi widget ON the wi-fi won't come on until I manually go into Setting ->Wireless and Networks->wi-fi network and manually turn on my Wi-fi connection. Now this is not a huge issue but one none the less. Once I connect the wi-fi in this manner it work fantastic at 54mbps. with a good connection. I know the router is working since I use it for my laptops in the house and my in-laws come and use it as well with no issues.
Is this due to the fact that it has WPA password (which is already saved on the phone as the password and doesn't ask for it to access the wi-fi)? Could it be something I am doing wrong. Is there perhaps something I can do to fix this, whether it be a setting or a 3rd party widget to toggle between on and off.
The wifi toggle widget that comes standard on the phone is not working for me. When wifi is off, I press the toggle widget and the small bar goes up showing that wifi is connected. But at the top bar, it still says 3G and doesn't show the wifi bars symbol. Only when I go into the settings menu does it connect to wifi. Anyone else having this problem? And keep in mind, this is the wifi widget that is already on the phone, not from the marketplace.

The current widget only turns it on and off...and the WiFi defaults to connecting to the last connected.... not the strongest.
On a side note I have a dual band wireless-n router....the phone (if it is wireless n) only sees the 2.4 ghz spectrum...not the 5 (which is much faster and less interference). And in case anyone asks why you would need it....internal networking...Not for surfing the web.
Is there a 'to do list' widget that can sync with Google calender or the todo list application for igoogle homepage?

I checked the APN issue, allow auto sync data in data storage issue, removing and re-installing the accounts issue, application manager to clear cashe issue, ........I do have other 2 google apps mails with no problem at all. Btw, Im using the default mail application and don't want to replace it with another one, but when I did for a trial, the same problem appears.I checked with mobile operator and by it support at my company, and all seems to be good.

Like if I have a in the Sync folder two folders Music and Documents when I add a song or a document in the Sync folder I want with the touch of one button or automatically they to be synced with my device. I tried dropbox but it didn't work for me. I have to favorite all files that I want to be available offline. I tried Android Sync Manager too but I didn't find any option to automaticly sync a folder on my pc with a folder on my device. If I want to sync music I must first add it to Music in Android Sync Manager and then sync.
