I'd like to be able to create a special user account that would exist on an android device. Since it is based on the Linux kernel, I was hoping there was a way to create a group account and then create a user account. Is it possible ?

I want to create a application where user can login with twitter account and whatever activity he does (depending on other cases) should be tweeted. Now since twitter has removed basic authentication how to achieve this ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am developing an Android frontend to a web application using its API. This Android application will expose some extra features if the user is a 'pro'. Therefore I need the Android app to acquire the information whether an account is pro. That is done while getting the token. In other words, when the Android application requests a token to the web application via the API, the web application provides also a flag representing whether the user is a pro.
When the Android app gets that piece of information, it stores it in the SharedPreferences, like this: this.sharedPreferencesEditor.putBoolean(Account.PRO_ACCOUNT, isPro).commit();
Then the Android app reads that value to decide whether a certain feature is available to that user. Now, my question is: is that approach easily hackable? I mean, can some clever user work-around this system and get pro-features even if they are not pro-users? How could do that?

My understanding is that I will need to unlock the boot loader, and then install "something" to create the Super User account.
I've started developing apps for Android today so I dont have much clue to what im doing. So far I have built a main page with some text on, a spinner and a button. What I need to know is how I would go about having a user entry feature? Do I have to create a form and a database?
Basically, a new user has to press the button, and then a new page will show up where they can put in their name and department. I've looked at SQLite but not sure if that's the right thing or not.
Is it possible to pass user defined Intend actions?

Setting up my email account was easy to do. I'm having a problem (or I'm not understanding) the email app that came with the phone. I only see three folders

SEND
TRASH
How do I create additional folders? Also, how do I get all my emails in my inbox to display?? I am only seeing the recent emails, or the ones that were just received. I need to be able to see the emails from earlier today, yesterday, last week, etc..... How do I do this? Can emails be stored to the card? Can we change the text setting from an html format to just a standard text format? Where can I find a the complete instructions on the email app?
I have recently changed my email address for a variety of reasons, and am wondering how my paid apps will be supported through this transition? Can i just remove the old gmail account from and add the new one to the phone?

The problem I had was when trying to sync my Evo 4g to Exchange 2010. I continually got the message "Failed to create the account. Please try again later". After searching on this site and trying everything on every thread, I was about to throw my hands up and send it back when I found the solution. This solution appears to not be posted on this site, so I figured I would help out others that might run into the problem in the future. I have done this now 2 or 3 times for other users that have had this issue and it has corrected it. I don't claim this solution will work for everyone, it simply what I did to correct for my users. I would suggest trying what other threads have as solutions before trying this one.

Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. I know this is confusing but i dont know how else to explian it.

The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
