View 2 Replies View RelatedI have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.
My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.
Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.
Is there an Android Google group specifically for games development, especially using OpenGL ES?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got GV today and I'm trying to set up the customized voicemail greeting to certain groups and not having any luck. I made the greeting, it plays properly in the GV settings in a browser but when I test it from a phone in that group it stays as the default "The Google Voice subscriber you are trying to reach is unavailable..."
View 7 Replies View RelatedI would like to create an Android App that allows people to geotag a public map with a note and an image, and maybe a few other fields. I have never made an Android App before but found this great tutorial:
Writing a Real Android App from Scratch Tutorial Series - Part 1 | ashokgelal.com
Which is basically EXACTLY what I need, except seems to be limited to just that user's map. I would like to make a single map that is publicly taggable by anyone. It will be limited to a specific city (if that really matters).
Is there a way to sync only one specific Google contact group rather than getting everyone that happens to have a phone number from the generic "All Contacts" section? If I go into the standalone Contacts app the only contacts I see on the "Contacts: Google" list are the ones I want but when I go into the contacts in the phone app everyone and their grandparents are listed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else noticing that the three "built-in" groups in Google Voice: Friends, Family and Coworkers are NOT synced? These are my three biggest groups. I'm sure I could create duplicate groups, but that seems silly. Can anyone confirm the same behavior and/or suggest something to get these groups syncing properly?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several contact groups setup in google Voice/Gmail. I cannot seem to access/send to these groups via my Droid Gmail/Voice application. Handcent is the only application I have that seems to be able to send a single message to one of my google groups. Anyone have an idea on how I can send an email to a group via google?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use Android SDK's SQLiteQueryBuilder to join two tables, let's call them t1 and t2, and query that table based on an attribute from each table, say t1.att1 and t2.att2, equaling a certain value. I'm a little confused on the syntax when it comes to the selection.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way i can group all my contacts to my Google account that are saved to phone. I start saving them to phone instead of Google when giving the option, thinking i could just sync whenever i upgraded ROMS. I was wrong i lost some contacts, restoring older ROMS. So for future references I will save to google, I just want to know if the current contacts now can be saved to Google grouped or i have to go in and do them individually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find out the best way to do a simple table join on my two tables using a sqlite database in an android application. Is the simplest way to use CursorJoiner or is there any easier way?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know there are some threads about how to join contacts but I know how to join them. Its just when I go to my contacts and press menu and join it doesn't list ANY of my contacts. On some contacts it'll suggest and even list all the contacts, but on the contacts I actually want to merge it doesn't give me that option.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to join a Microsoft Office Communicator call via VPN? At the moment I am able to connect to my office VPN (via Cisco AnyConnect app) , but I am lost as to how I can take my communicator calls on my phone.
Right now I have to boot up my laptop, connect to the VPN and take the call on my laptop, which is quite inconvenient especially when I'm out and about. It would be great if I could just do all this on my phone (a 1st gen Galaxy Note).
Having had the Nexus one with glorious Stock Android I'm struggling with some of the Samsung 'improvements'. The primary issue for me right now is that I've got the nasty Sammy Contacts app (with it's non-maintained-aspect-ration contact pics, i HATE that) sync to Google Contacts, but it shows them all! On the N1 I could filter so that I could only view 'My Contacts' from Google, a nice limited Group I could readily maintain. I can see no option to do this on the SGS. Anyone found it? Can't wait for a stock android ROM for this beast, it is awesome but as of yet I can't see how Samsung added any value with their SW meddling.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else not getting a mobile internet connection right now? This has happened before on Orange but it's different this time because my phone doesn't seem to be searching for a network to join (before in the settings it would say "searching" or something and be greyed out but not this time)
Hopefully it's just a network problem, rather than my phone
I've managed to fix it i think. It would seem something I installed (im thinking SwitchPro Widget) changed the APN name in the settings to orangeinternet_off.
I have an app where I want to list all phone numbers and the associated contact name.I see that there is the Contacts.People table for the purpose of getting all phone numbers and that there is a PERSON_ID to allow me to lookup the contact in Contacts.People.Great.Now I see that all the columns I want are already joined to the Contacts.People.Phones table. But that seems lucky in this case. How could I do the equivalent of the above statement in general if the implementer of the content provider hadn't been so nice as to join for me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get records from the system by quering a ContentResolver. I maintain the order of the items in the database. So I want to display the items in the order taken from my database.
How do I merge these two informations?
I am looking after an alternative way now. As what I ideally want is:
Get order of contacts by a custom order held in my database (this involves joining CR with my DB cursor, and doing an order by, later seams it's not possible with CursorJoiner) but there is more, if the join is not unique I want to sort by contact's name as last measure
Which is impossible using Cursor and Joiners, because of the missing feature of order bys, also I need to return a Cursor, as I will be using the in an ExpandableList
Also this translated to TSQL it would look like
select * from contactsdata
left join category on contactsdata.catid=category.id
order by category.pos asc, contact.display_name asc
So I am looking now after an alternative. I have in mind to load in a temporary DB table all data from CR, then do the query on the temporary table where I can join tables and do order bys? How does this sound to you?
I have long had my WAP pages built and had my URL launchers built by an outsourced group in India. I now have a requirement to update my .apk files to 2.2 as well as build 6 additional .apk files that are made up of 6 completely different URL launchers to other WAP sites. I have successfully set up my Java and SDK environment My questions are: What is the best recommendation the group can suggest as a starting point? How do I open the .apk file in my eclipse environment to make the changes necessary? The Android Market says the following when I attempt to upload my .apk file:
Market does not accept apks signed with the debug certificate. Create a new certificate that is valid for at least 50 years. Market requires that the certificate used to sign the apk be valid until at least October 22, 2033. Create a new certificate. Market requires the minSdkVersion to be set to a positive 32-bit integer in AndroidManifest.xml.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to add a New Contact Group in android. I see Groups content provider but there is no way to add a New group. If anybody knows, please share the knowledge.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI notice that there's been a bit of controversy in the last couple of days about off-topic posting on this list. As the list home page says, it is intended to be a place to "Discuss developing Android applications using the Android framework". While I find the talk about the Market and wider issues very interesting, I do think it would be better placed on the -discuss list, so that this list can be more focussed on technical issues to do with developing using the SDK.
I wonder if the reason why this list attracts a lot of off-topic stuff is the name? I suspect many people don't see the description and just interpret "android-developers" to be for discussion of issues affecting developers. Perhaps if it was named "android-sdk" (to match the new android-ndk list), that would improve things?
