View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an android 2.1 (Samsung I5700 Spica). Does android use only "google contact" for manage all contacts? Even when I manually add contact on the top it says "Google contact from MyEmailId@gmail.com". The reason for asking is if you select "Menu">"Display Options">select "MyEmailId@gmail.com" you can select "System Group" How do I add certain contact to one of these groups, by default if I manually create a contact it goes and sits in "System Group: My Contacts". Is there an option where one can add contact not get stored under google contact?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way that every time I turn on the contacts app it goes straight into one of the groups I've created, say "friends"? Right now every time I open the contacts app it shows all the contacts in my phone. I want to go to my "friends" group instead. Is that possible? Or do I need another app?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.
My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.
Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.
My HTC Hero was delivered today and I am having problems with my contact list. I have 500 plus names and numbers that have been transferred from outlook to the hero and they have come over in the same groups as in outlook but I need more than that. On my windows based palm top (that I am hoping to replace with the hero) I can search for either a persons name or the name of the company they work for.
About 400 of my contacts are work related and I might only use them once or twice a year and without being able to search for a company name I can not find them. It is further complicated because in a lot of cases a company name might have 3 or 4 different people under it. Does anyone know of a contacts app or upgrade that would give me the functionality that I am looking for?
I was wondering how I can place a contact that was synced to my phone through facebook into a group. When I click these contacts the only options available are "All" "Link" and "Set Speed Dial".I have a large number of contacts from facebook (close to 500) and I want to separate those people into groups, for example: college, favorites, family, etc.I've searched the forum and can't seem to find the answer so if it has been asked before I apologize.

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I set up a group on my desire so that I can send a group text or email to the parents of the kids football team that I help to run. It seem that it uses the primary number that's selected in the persons contact info. Some parents have given me both their mobile numbers and sometimes two email addresses so I want to include them all in the same group. Does anyone know how I can do this? On my previous blackberry curve 8900 I could select multiple numbers/email addresses from the same contact to go into the group.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first set up my phone, I synced my Google contacts (from 2 accounts). I have since cleaned up my contacts, no longer syncing the Google contacts ... I only have my phone contacts. After cleaning things up, I still have 2 empty "Google" contact groups. My question: Is it possible to remove a contact group? I haven't found a way to do it and I have had no luck searching here or on the rest of the internet. I just want to clear up the clutter. I think it's silly to have 2 empty contact groups.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Xperia X10 Mini, and for the first time ever of using a mobile I want to set up a contact group for all the parents of my kids' football team so I can send out a single message to multiple contacts in one easy go. However, I cannot seem to find a way to do this with an X10. On my old Nokia, it was really easy, but having come into the modern world and finally upgraded to a smartphone, I would have thought this would have been a no-brainer! Please, can someone help me!

1) Is there a way to load the keyboard when in contacts to type in the person's name to do quick searches instead of clicking the letter on the side or scrolling all the time?
2) When groups are created in Google contacts through gmail, it will appear on the phone, but it will not list the contacts in that group on the phone as it does on gmail's contacts. When trying to do it on the phone itself, when click on add contact for the group, it only lists contacts that are not assigned. How to I configure this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to sync only one specific Google contact group rather than getting everyone that happens to have a phone number from the generic "All Contacts" section? If I go into the standalone Contacts app the only contacts I see on the "Contacts: Google" list are the ones I want but when I go into the contacts in the phone app everyone and their grandparents are listed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else noticing that the three "built-in" groups in Google Voice: Friends, Family and Coworkers are NOT synced? These are my three biggest groups. I'm sure I could create duplicate groups, but that seems silly. Can anyone confirm the same behavior and/or suggest something to get these groups syncing properly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have long had my WAP pages built and had my URL launchers built by an outsourced group in India. I now have a requirement to update my .apk files to 2.2 as well as build 6 additional .apk files that are made up of 6 completely different URL launchers to other WAP sites. I have successfully set up my Java and SDK environment My questions are: What is the best recommendation the group can suggest as a starting point? How do I open the .apk file in my eclipse environment to make the changes necessary? The Android Market says the following when I attempt to upload my .apk file:
Market does not accept apks signed with the debug certificate. Create a new certificate that is valid for at least 50 years. Market requires that the certificate used to sign the apk be valid until at least October 22, 2033. Create a new certificate. Market requires the minSdkVersion to be set to a positive 32-bit integer in AndroidManifest.xml.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI notice that there's been a bit of controversy in the last couple of days about off-topic posting on this list. As the list home page says, it is intended to be a place to "Discuss developing Android applications using the Android framework". While I find the talk about the Market and wider issues very interesting, I do think it would be better placed on the -discuss list, so that this list can be more focussed on technical issues to do with developing using the SDK.
I wonder if the reason why this list attracts a lot of off-topic stuff is the name? I suspect many people don't see the description and just interpret "android-developers" to be for discussion of issues affecting developers. Perhaps if it was named "android-sdk" (to match the new android-ndk list), that would improve things?
