Android : Way To Customize CheckBoxPreference Via Droid WidgetLayout?

I have a Preference that enables a sync adapter, and takes a while to actually do its work when toggled. Consequently, when the user clicks the Preference, I spin off an AsyncTask to do the work. In the meantime, I disable the Preference and replace the check box with an indeterminate ProgressBar. I have all of this working via a hack involving a subclass of CheckBoxPreference that overlays the ProgressBar on top of the CheckBox.

I'm trying to learn how to do live wallpapers for android. I've got it working and now I want to add a couple preferences. So, I've created a preference activity and followed all the examples I could find.
I can capture ListBoxPreferences just fine, but the 'onSharedPreferenceChanged' method is never called when a checkbox has been changed.
Is there extra code that has to be added for capturing checkbox changes? Is there a best practices way of doing check boxes in preferences?

I would like to have a checkbox preference that takes the user to a new (sub)preference screen if the user presses on the actual text (and not on the checkbox to the right).Just as the control under Settings -> Wireless -> Mobile Network Settings -> Access Point Names.

I have a screen where you can enable/disable modules for my Android application.
For this I use a CheckboxPreference screen. This is all good, but the summary field gets cut off if longer descriptions are added than 2 lines.
Suppose I have 4-5 lines of description available for each module, I would like to display this in a helper window.
I tried to bind a click event to the CheckboxPreference, but that fires for the whole line, so not only when the checkbox is clicked, and more, wherever you click on the line the checkbox is toggled.
So now I am wondering if this can be fixed. So if the user needs more info, just taps the text and the helper opens up, and if want to toggle the settings it taps the checkbox.

how to change the tab indicator's images in android? there is a tab_indicator.xml file in-built in android sdk. in that the Relative layout has the background as a tab_indicator file as background. how to customize this images in tab_indicator and set our new images? What is the best way to customize my eris's UI? I've read about metamorph but I am not sure how to use it, and when I looked at it in the market it says that I need busybox also, what is that for? Also I've read about using gimp to make icons and other things and I'm interested in that. What I wanna do is change my icons away from the stock icons that I have and make my own or find premade ones I like. So when i either put my droid in my car mount or i press the "car/home" app, my phone goes into car mode. here i have 2 screens to choose from. the first screen has 6 buttons all with applications in them, the second screen has 6 buttons but only 3 have applications in them. question is, is there a way to customize the other 3 buttons and pit an application in them or am i stuck staring at 3 empty buttons forever?

Is there a way to set up favorites in launcher pro and customize them?I would like to have a widget, shortcuts or whatever in either a folder or on one of the screens for one touch dialing.Can't figure out how to do that in LP. Also, is there a way to customize these in any of the UI's?For example, unless you leave them so large that you can only get 4 per screen, you only get the first name of the contact.What I want to do is be able to make the print smaller and have first name, last name.I don't care about the photo. I want to set them up so they automatically dial the preferred phone number when I touch them, not bring up the contact where I now have to click on the task I want (call a certain number, text a certain number, email, etc.).Seems rather fundamental and common sense but after playing with it for quite some time and searching here, haven't come up with anything.

Anybody know how to customize the LED light settings? I've managed to change the indicator light color for handcent sms, but I've had no luck digging through the menus for any other options. It seems that the light is capable of multiple colors. I'm thinking a cycle when the phone rings would be pretty cool. Any ideas?

The answer is probably no, but is there a way for non-root users to customize their notification bar. Maybe change the color of the bar or different battery or signal strength notifications.
