Android :: Way To Add Images To Compose Body Of Email?
Nov 11, 2010
Is there any way of adding images to the body of the mail (i.e Compose). I have some text with images that I want to dump into the compose of the mail. I don't need to add image has an attachment. I guess the Compose is an Edit Text. I wonder is it possible to add images to it?

Is there anyway to compose in gmail like the email app? Email app gives you the option to do bold, italisize, underline, and even bullets...I would think gmail would be superiorr in Driod phones.

I have a Motorola Droid running Android version 2.2. Every so often I will receive email on my Droid from a POP3 account where the subject line does not match the body of the e-mail. For example I will receive on my Droid an e-mail from Amazon confirming order shipment but the body of the e-mail will be an advertisement from Hertz, HP, etc. The Amazon e-mail body is not shown. If I look in Gmail online it is fine so this so this is only on the Droid.

I am using Nitro Desk's Touchdown application as my Exchange application, and I'm using it to send HTML format emails. I would like to change the font & font size in my outgoing emails, but I don't really understand how the "Email body style" setting works.

If I have the following:
CODE:..............
How can I get the body (second EditText) to fill the rest of the screen, but still have the scrollview kick in when the contents of the body are too long? Like a height="wrap_content" and minHeight="fill_parent"
layout_height="fill_parent" seems to not do anything if you put them in a scrollview
A working example of what I want is the email app compose window
I tried this and the EditText elements act like they are wrap_content and no filling is happening. Just scrolling if you type enough
CODE:...................

Ever since I purchased my hero, the stock mail wigdet has given me problems.
If I use the full screen widget on one of my screens, it will display message body for some emails, and not for others.

so as everyone that is on 2.1 knows we cannot see embedded images on our email....but what if i told you i now have them
One of the many things that dont make much sense to me on this phone. I have 2 ways to get email. The native email app retrieves gmail normally and thats where there is no image. There is another mail icon for just mail and thats used to set up exchange or another pop3 account. well i wanted to try the mail HTC widget and in order for me to do that I had to set up pop3 to retrieve gmail. So now i have 2 apps retrieving gmail. i sent myself an email from a different email to test and it was all text, no box with ?'s or nothing. I hit menu then more then settings. in send and recieve there is an option for max size limit. by default mine was set as 5kb (text only) i changed it to no limit. resent the email and when i opened it there were the ?'s again but there was also a show HTML images and once i clicked it I had imbedded images, but only using the Mail icon not the gmail envelope still. think i might disable notifications for the gmail one and use the one that works.

Can we create a 'desktop' shortcut that opens a "composed email".. ? Specifically, a different shortcut for EACH gmail account.. ? I have seen the gmail label in the shortcuts, but it seems to just open the inbox, or a labeled folder.

I'm using Handcent (recent convert from BB) I have a few shortcuts setup for frequent persons I text but wondered the fastest way to compose a text for a random person in my address book. Here's what I've done:
1. press Handcent
2. press top left icon for new message
3. press + sign
4. scroll list for contact
5. press check mark
6. press check mark to select mobile phone
7. press ok
8. press menu
9. press "end select"
10. compose text.
so, that's nuts. The other way I've tried is:
1.press people shortcut
2. scroll list for contact
3. press contact
4. Look at the 3 entries for "send message" (my example contact) and try and remember which is the cell phone.
5. press send message.
6. compose text
So I guess the second way is better but I'd rather not have to figure which is the cell phone and rather than scrolling to find the name I'd rather type first letters of name.

Am now onto my second Sony Ericsson Xperia phone, as I am unable to compose a new SMS message. ALthough I have imported all contacts from SD memory card, and they appear in my contacts and if somebody is to call or SMS me their name appears but when I go to send a new message no names appears just lets me type their name but does not allow to send the text as there is no number?
I really like this phone and do not want to have to get a 3rd one or change phones altogether.
SIM card does not work effectiviely either. SOme numbers come up with a search but I almost have to type the full name - cannot just enter say "D" and all names appear under that letter.
Vodafone and Sony Ericsson are unable to provide any further advise as I have completed factory data resets, un and reinstall software updates. Sony Ericsson has said they have not had another feedback like this?

I'm basically using the same method of loading bitmaps in OpenGL that the SpriteMethodTest example uses and have been unable to get rid of an annoying outline that appears around all of my images.
For example, If I were to load an image of a white circle on a white background, I would expect to see nothing. Instead, I would see my circle because its edge would be gray. In SpriteMethodTest, I replaced the background image with white and was able to see that the edges of the android images flying around also don't seem to be rendered correctly.
Does anyone know how to load images in OpenGL without having a thin outline appear around the images?

I'm working to convert some background images to nine patch so they scale better on different phones.
The problem is that if I have the following resource structure: drawable-hdpi/background.png drawable-hdpi/button.png drawable-mdpi/background.png drawable-mdpi/button.png drawable-ldpi/background.png drawable-ldpi/button.png and then I drop a new drawable-hdpi/background.9.png file into the mix, it breaks button.png during the pre-compile. The error is "No resource found that matches the given name (at 'background' with value '@drawable/button').Simply removing that one nine patch file fixes the build. Should I be able to have some nine patch images and some normal ones, or to have nine patch only in hdpi but not mdpi or ldpi? This is Eclipse 3.5.1 with the latest ADT.

I'm working on an app that needs body movements as inputs. So basically I want to know if a person turns around completely (360°). If a the person does sthg happens inside the application. My problem for now is: How to figure out if a person turned around? I don't see an approach with gps as the person is not moving enough. So I thought about the compass or acceleration sensor but I have no clue how to manage that.

I am using Gmail sender function defined here to send a mail to the predefined mail id. But my problem is that I want to embed more text into the body of my mail. The Gmail sender is only accepting one sting to be embedded into the body of the mail. Can anyone tell me how to embed more strings into the body of the mail. If Gmail sender is not efficient method to send a mail then please suggest me an alternative with an example.

I stumbled upon this today. I never heard of a clear full body cover skin for cell phones. I'm interested in getting it for my EVO. Anyone already have it? how does it work on the edges? And, was it easy/difficult to install? I've been searching the web for a how-to video but haven't found one.

My Incredible took its first fall yesterday. Considering I have nothing but a screen protector on the phone, I'd say it came out just fine. That said, there are a few rough feeling scratches on the body right above the screen near the power button (on the glossy black part facing the front). I was wondering if anyone has tried smoothing out some scratches successfully? Can't really see it, but I feel it every time I push the Power button or hold the phone in a certain way, and well, while I'll get over it, for now it annoys me.

First of all, yes I've read everything on the other threads about cases. The only problem I've had with the Hero in six months is settling down on a case. I've done naked, eBay cheapies, Sprint silicones, Otterbox, and now the Sprint Body Glove. No Seidio though. I like the way it feels kind of like the silicones but stiff. Yes it's thicker too. I would just like some opinions from people who are using or have used this case. I don't think I'm taking up too much room here since so many have moved to the EVO forum.
