Android : Want Bluetooth Headphones / Are Expensive?
Apr 19, 2010
Anyone use in ear bluetooth headphones? Looking to buy some but never had a pair before so no idea who makes good bluetooth ones. Are they all really expensive? I wouldn't want to pay more than like 65 for a pair really..
Mainly to be used with my Desire.

I tried hooking up a cassette adapter to the headphones jack so I could play music through the car speakers, while still having bluetooth on in case a call came in. But the audio still plays through the bluetooth. Is there any way to make the audio go through the headphone jack?

I'm having trouble finding a GOOD bluetooth headphone thread on these forums. Even googling things the "top 10" lists I've found are mostly from 2007-2008.

Plugging in a headphone/speaker to the audio jack seems to terminate audio to Bluetooth. I would like to have audio both places out the headphone jack AND on bluetooth. Is that possible?

I've googled this with no luck so far. I paired my Droid Charge with some an awesome pair of Freedom Bluetooth Headphones for the gym. I want to go running with a friend...can she buy the same headphones and connect to my phone as well so we can both listen to the same music as we run?
In other words, can one device (my droid) pair with 2 bluetooth receivers simultaneously?

Just got the phone today and i cant get enough of it. I am trying to check all the new stuff and am kinda stuck on the tuner. So my understanding is that you have to insert a headphone jack to listen to it and it won't work with the bluetooth headphones. If that's the case then it sucks as I really wanted to use my BT headphones.

I'm having some totally inexplicable trouble with a pair of Sennheiser MM200 Bluetooth headphones I just picked up.When I first got them set up, they paired just fine with my Moto Droid (latest firmware, 2.0.1). I was able to listen to music great, talk on the phone, etc., for a few hours.Then for no reason they became disconnected. I checked the bluetooth status and it said they were "Paired but not connected". I tried connecting, but it would simply say "Could not connect".So, I unpaired them and started the headphones up on pairing mode again. Now, the Droid can't even detect them, at all.
This went on permanently. I restarted the Droid, pulled the battery, turned bluetooth on and off, paired it to another bluetooth device, I even reformatted the damn thing! STILL can't see my MM200 headset! What's worse is that my wife's BlackBerry Storm can see them and pair with them just fine! Every time.But to my Droid, they have become completely invisible.

I notice that if I use bluetooth headphones, I can only use them with the default music player, which is a big drag since it kind of blows. If I delete the music player in the adb shell, will that fix the problem so I can use a different music app?

How to connect two sets of bluetooth headphones with the same phone at the same time.
It seems to me that it requires os level changes. Do you agree? or can it be done with an app?
It seems like an obvious improvement, useful for two people running together, or on a plane together. I wonder why no one has made this happen yet?

I have a $300 iPhone app that I might like to port to Android.It is for a very narrow set of users, so no matter how low I make the price, I will never sell very many.But for those few users, it is definitely worth it, as evidenced by my iPhone sales.So the $300 price point is necessary. However I have heard that the Google Android Market puts a limit of $200 on apps.I have also heard that it is possible to distribute apps independently of the Market, in which case I suppose I could charge as much as I wanted. But then I would have to devise my own licensing scheme.Are these assumptions right?

I'm looking for a Verizon phone that I can afford to buy without the contract. Can someone either list for me the phones that use the Android OS or tell me the least/less expensive ones? I've been having trouble finding this information.I was at the Verizon store today and liked the Motorola Citrus. I didn't realize until I looked it up later that it was released just yesterday. Any info on this phone? Are there even less expensive phones?Also, do all android phones have google maps/gps? Can the google browser be used with all of them?

I've always been using RelativeLayout everytime I needed a View container, because of it's flexibility, even if I just wanted to display something really simple.Is it ok to do so, or should I try using a LinearLayout when I can, from a performance/good practices standpoint?

Is there a pair of in the ear headphones with mic that's in between the apple headphones and bose ones? I've looked into the bose headphones, but that's alot of money to go into some wired headphones.. Does anyone have them, can you say they're worth getting for that cash? I use my phone alot for music, so good headphones are important.

OK I'm reading this page:
http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/faq/commontasks.html#thre...
The code is as in the example (see below). In my application, the worker thread has done loading of large bitmaps, and I need to notify the UI thread the filename of the bitmap that was loaded as they get loaded. How can I notify the UI thread of the filename of the bitmap just loaded? I can see anyway to for updateResultsInUi() to be able to take a parameter from the example below.
public class MyActivity extends Activity {
[ . . . ]
// Need handler for callbacks to the UI thread final Handler mHandler = new Handler();
// Create runnable for posting final Runnable mUpdateResults = new Runnable() { public void run() { updateResultsInUi();
} };
@Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
[ . . . ]
} protected void startLongRunningOperation() {
// Fire off a thread to do some work that we shouldn't do directly in the UI thread
Thread t = new Thread() { public void run() {
mResults = doSomethingExpensive();
mHandler.post(mUpdateResults);
} };
t.start();
} private void updateResultsInUi() {
// Back in the UI thread -- update our UI elements based on the data in mResults
[ . . . ]
}

I know many developers ask about the best Android phone for development, but my question is almost opposite: What is the least expensive Android phone that I can get away with TTS (text-to-speech) and ASR (automated-speech-recognition) software development?
To further clarify my question:
Do all Android phones support
TTS and ASR?
Do all Android OS versions
support TTS and ASR?
If the answer to either of the above
is 'No', then which brand/model will
provide me with TTS and ASR functionality
while minimizing out-of-pocket
expense?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S. I exercise alot and would like to know if there is a music player that can skip to the next song by pressing the head phone button twice. I dont want to touch the phone as i live in Australia and it is hot and i dont want to sweat all over the phone and break something. With the Iphone they have something where you hit the button twice on the head phones and it skips a song. Three clicks of the button the music player goes back one song. Is there a music player app or a head set i can use. If i press the button now it just pauses.

Can anyone recommend an app I can use to control my Music via my mic enabled headphones, similar to what the iphone offers. I found an app called droid shuffle, which sounded perfect but I can't get it to work on my Captivate. Basically I want to be able to press the mic button twice to advance to the next track. This and DRM are the only reasons I wish my droid was more iphoneish.

Request 1: I made this request to HTC but they said to try here as well. My Iphone TomTom GPS used to fade back to itunes when it was not actively speaking. I use the bluetooth on my Mazda 3 for music and routing instead of owning an expensive NAV system. Please enable the Sprint Nav to do so. This would be the ONLY thing I miss from the iPhone at this time.
Request 2. The headphones hiss when a song fades out. Is this a HTC hardware issue or something that can be addressed with a firmware patch? I hear I can get headphones that come out of the bottom port but the hero touted the 3.5 jack and I should not have to do so.

Would love a good music app for my captivate which bypasses everything and immediately goes to the last song played and begins from there. Bypasses the unlock screen and any "last apps" I was using. A true "plug and play". Is there such an app? Right now I have to plug in the phones, unlock the phone, back out of my messenger or email program, select the music app, select the album or artist and then the songs. Its all a bit tiring if I do it somewhat frequently like in and out of the car.
