Aug 30, 2010I'm having trouble finding a GOOD bluetooth headphone thread on these forums. Even googling things the "top 10" lists I've found are mostly from 2007-2008.

View 1 RepliesI'm hoping to get a little insight here from the members of the community that have devices that are not rooted, or from members that have experience prior to their rooting. Before I go into my questioning, I do want to preface this by stating that I have considered rooting my phone in the past, and have even tried (but failed) using the PreKitchen. Since then, I have made a definite decision that I will not be rooting my device. I have done TONS of research and reading on the topic, have asked and have had answered a lot of questions, and I've just decided that I do not want to do it. Yes, I understand the pros of doing it, I just choose not to. That being said, I would respectfully ask that those who take the time to respond to this post, please don't suggest rooting.
Ok, so I've owned the Hero since October, and for the most part, it has performed only marginally. The quirks, odditys and under performance issues I have experienced are nothing different from what has been talked about on this board, or others. Some issues, however, have been persistently bad, even after the "typical" troubleshooting methods have been used. Additionally, some of the things I've seen my device do haven't been talked about, or at least not in great detail, by many people. Some of the issues that I am experiencing, I am hoping that 2.1 will cure, however, I've come to a breaking point where I don't want to wait it out for the upgrade to finally release, only to find out that it didn't help. I've talked to Sprint Advanced Tech Support a few times and they seem to believe that it's a faulty device. Whether or not that is their response because they are stumped, or if the device actually IS faulty is what I'm hoping to figure out. They have agreed to send a replacement device to me, so I'm trying to get a feel for what to expect. Below are some of the issues I'm experiencing:
1. Wifi will not stay connected 85% of the time, despite a strong signal.
2. Apps take quite a bit of time to respond. The phone, however, does not seem to lag all that much. Screens respond pretty quickly and swiping is pretty smooth. Apps just take quite a bit of time to open/respond, even if still in "running" mode in the background.
3. Browser and other data requesting apps take quite a bit of time to get data, despite a strong EVDO signal or strong Wifi signal.
4. The phone's antenna seems to be weak. I can barely get a signal in my office (a one story building, sitting close to a window) and I'm in a heavily populated city. I've never had a hard time getting any less than 3 bars on any other Sprint phone in this location. Additionally, in areas where reception should be strong, I've found my phone switching between 1x and EVDO for data, and Roaming for voice.
There are other miscellaneous issues as well. I also want to stress that all of the typical troubleshooting methods have been done. I hard reset the phone last week and cleaned house, and am still seeing these issues. Prior to hard resetting, I had around 25-30 MB of free space on the phone. After the hard reset, I'm around 75 MB of free space, so that doesn't seem to be an issue. Text messages are cleared off the phone as they come in and program caches are cleared out daily. As for the signal issues, that's something I can't figure out, and neither can Sprint Tech Support, which is why I'm getting the replacement. My questions to the community are these:
1. I know that some of the issues I have listed are common among Hero users, however, does troubleshooting (clearing caches, texts, etc) solve the issues, or do they persist?
2. Has anyone had signal/data speed issues?
3. For people who have had replacement devices for issues similar to these, did the new device work better, or is this just a function of the device? One of the main reasons I ask these questions is because if this is going to continue to be an issue from device to device, there is no need to waste time continually swapping phones. I think at that point, I'll just have to wait for 2.1, hope it resolves the issues, and if not, cross that bridge at that time. I've expressed concern to the Sprint reps about receiving a refurb device. They had stated that it isn't up to them what gets shipped, however, they did advise that if a refurb was shipped, to send it back and go to a repair center to return it (in hopes that they have new phones on hand). I'm truly hoping that this is an issue with my device and not the Hero itself.
I tried hooking up a cassette adapter to the headphones jack so I could play music through the car speakers, while still having bluetooth on in case a call came in. But the audio still plays through the bluetooth. Is there any way to make the audio go through the headphone jack?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone use in ear bluetooth headphones? Looking to buy some but never had a pair before so no idea who makes good bluetooth ones. Are they all really expensive? I wouldn't want to pay more than like 65 for a pair really..
Mainly to be used with my Desire.
My boyfriend has a Motorola Droid and wants Bluetooth headphones. Does anyone have any recommendations on which would be good to get him? I don't know too much about this stuff and I want to get him a good gift.
View 6 Replies View RelatedPlugging in a headphone/speaker to the audio jack seems to terminate audio to Bluetooth. I would like to have audio both places out the headphone jack AND on bluetooth. Is that possible?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've googled this with no luck so far. I paired my Droid Charge with some an awesome pair of Freedom Bluetooth Headphones for the gym. I want to go running with a friend...can she buy the same headphones and connect to my phone as well so we can both listen to the same music as we run?
In other words, can one device (my droid) pair with 2 bluetooth receivers simultaneously?
Im looking to get a pair of stereo bluetooth headphones to use when I work out. There are three so far that caught my eye
Motorola Motorkr S9-HD
Jaybird JB-200m
Altek BackBeat 903
I'm thinking of buying Motorola - S9HD Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headphones. For my moment has anyone used these and do they work good.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got the phone today and i cant get enough of it. I am trying to check all the new stuff and am kinda stuck on the tuner. So my understanding is that you have to insert a headphone jack to listen to it and it won't work with the bluetooth headphones. If that's the case then it sucks as I really wanted to use my BT headphones.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having some totally inexplicable trouble with a pair of Sennheiser MM200 Bluetooth headphones I just picked up.When I first got them set up, they paired just fine with my Moto Droid (latest firmware, 2.0.1). I was able to listen to music great, talk on the phone, etc., for a few hours. Then for no reason they became disconnected. I checked the bluetooth status and it said they were "Paired but not connected". I tried connecting, but it would simply say "Could not connect".So, I unpaired them and started the headphones up on pairing mode again. Now, the Droid can't even detect them, at all.
This went on permanently. I restarted the Droid, pulled the battery, turned bluetooth on and off, paired it to another bluetooth device, I even reformatted the damn thing! STILL can't see my MM200 headset! What's worse is that my wife's BlackBerry Storm can see them and pair with them just fine! Every time. But to my Droid, they have become completely invisible.
I've had the Desire for about 3 weeks now and it's a brilliant phone. However, quite often I listen to music from my Desire through my headphones to help me get to sleep. Unfortunately though, the lowest media volume setting is too loud through my headphones. It's seems to be either a choice of no music (i.e media volume turned to zero) or the next level up (which is too loud). Is there anyway to get a volume in between the two? I've tried apps such as AudioManager but to no avail
View 2 Replies View RelatedI notice that if I use bluetooth headphones, I can only use them with the default music player, which is a big drag since it kind of blows. If I delete the music player in the adb shell, will that fix the problem so I can use a different music app?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to connect two sets of bluetooth headphones with the same phone at the same time.
It seems to me that it requires os level changes. Do you agree? or can it be done with an app?
It seems like an obvious improvement, useful for two people running together, or on a plane together. I wonder why no one has made this happen yet?
Even registering the broadcast receiver at the highest priority still fails to receive the Bluetooth media button events on the HTC Hero phone. The Bluetooth media button registration code works fine on the other Android phones that I have tested. Apparently this isn't the first time HTC has done something like this, as I also found a report of a similar problem on one of the HTC Microsoft Mobile Devices reported here
It seems extremely short sighted of HTC to code their media player so that it grabs the Bluetooth AVRCP media button events in such a way that other applications are unable to work with the Bluetooth head phone buttons and Bluetooth in car stereo systems.................
Almost a year ago I purchased the HT820 Motorolla headset so I could pair a bluetooth phone and mp3 player to the same headset. It worked fantastic. Now that I finally have my hands on the Google phone, I was hoping to dual pair the headset to the phone for both media and the phone.
I don't know if I am doing something wrong during the pairing procedure, but it will not play media through the headset, except in the second before dialing a contact or just after I hang up. Whatever music is playing, comes out of the speakers, but like I said if a call comes in, I hear the music through the headset until I answer, and then it pauses like it should, then plays again after I hang up but it switches back to the external speaker almost immediately.
It works fine for the phone, and in the Bluetooth list of devices, it shows as connected.
Well the problems started 3 weeks ago when i noticed whenever i move around the headphones inside the jack, the music stops or one of the ear buds stop working. so i thought it was the headphones since skullcandies don't last long. i got a new pair and listened again but it STILL HAPPENED . (btw, the phone is not rooted)
The Phone still plays media fine without the headphones, so i thought no big deal. NEW PROBLEMS started to occur. The phone would NOT PLAY Media files whatsoever. (games, music, notifications, APPS ) every time it happens i have to restart the phone.
Is there a pair of in the ear headphones with mic that's in between the apple headphones and bose ones? I've looked into the bose headphones, but that's alot of money to go into some wired headphones.. Does anyone have them, can you say they're worth getting for that cash? I use my phone alot for music, so good headphones are important.
View 36 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering about what people have to say in regards to experiences from Best Buy today. I have an appointment set up after work and wanted to know what the process would be like. I will be a new Sprint costumer (switching from the Big Red One) and signing a 2 year contract. Do they let you open the Evo box and let you set up the phone or do they mostly do all of that stuff? Let me know your thoughts.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI got the bug fix around 5pm-ish CST. The update took a couple of minutes and here are my thoughts at 8pm. The good:
1. Love the new boot animation with the Samsung logo instead of the Android logo as the graphic is much better done and looks very nice on this screen compared to the Android logo and its jagged edges.
2. I already had the evernote app downloaded, so what happened is now it no longer shows up in the download folder.
3. New settings menu. Great they added a couple of things to the settings menu. Under Phone Settings, they added "Use wireless networks" above GPS to aid in location. Before this was only accessible via the voice dialer or google maps. And they added "About Phone" which again was only accessible by the voice dialer.
The unknown:
1. Battery life. As I've only had the update for a couple of hours, I'll have to get back to everyone on that.
2. Vibration: Hasn't happened yet, which is one of the big things I was having issue with when I would get a txt msg or wouldn't check it soon enough
The Bad:
Dont know, maybe just a fluke, I hope. I had the browser open to a blank page(I hit stop before it could load web2go), from the notification bar turned on wifi and poof, phone rebooted. Though it wasn't a complete reboot(with behold II, then tmo, then samsung logo). It simply went back to the Samsung logo and came back. Once back, I checked wifi, which was already set to on and I was able to connected and go on my happy way.So I'd say things are looking good, though of course too soon to say officially. Still gotta see if they fixed the issue with bluetooth file transfers.
I got the G1 for Christmas and I tried to use bluetooth on it to transfer a song I had on it to my freind's G1 and I couldn't find out how ro do it. I set the bluetooth up and linked the two phones but I couldn't do anything else. So if you have any answers or directions on how to use the bluetooth.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI finally paired my DINC to my car via bluetooth and was wondering if I am able to play my Mp3 from my phone to the car via bluetooth? I am currently using my the car AUX to play music and want to eliminate that because of the wires.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to use 2 bluetooth headsets (each stereo, for music use) at the same time and was wondering if this was possible. My wife and I like to go running together, and we thought it would be neat to have the same songs/playlist going and to hear the same speed/time voiceovers from my running application.
I'm running 2.1 on a Vibrant. (I didnt post in that sub-thread because I figured the answer would be the same for any 2.1 enabled phone).
If its not supported but you know of a workaround/hack, please let me know about that too.
Well now that shops finally sell it and more and more people have it by now, I thought to put this kind of thread up for everyone to comment their initial impressions and feelings about the phone, I am sure all of us who are still waiting for it are anxious to read your thoughts! Was it everything you hoped for, which things could have been done better? What good there is , what bad ?
View 18 Replies View RelatedNot that the above sticky is not useful and interesting. For those who have not read it, there is a debate raging about the effect of a specific OC setup on battery life.Regardless of that, has anybody else tried to overclock the processor for speed, or underclock it for battery? I am curious about a few things:
1. If you overclock the process for speed, which applications benefit? So far, there is very little lag anyway - without overclocking.
2. Is it not necessary to up the voltage going to the Evo processor when overclocking? For example, when I overclocked my home pc, I changed the voltage and the RAM timing.
3. When underclocking, if the same "stock" voltage is going to the processor anyway how does anybody expect to get battery savings? In my mind, the speed of the processor is not the issue, it is the energy that the processor consumes. (Or is this automatically handled by the widget behind the scenes?)
4. When underclocking the processor - have you experienced more lag? What is the "slowest" the processor can run before you notice anything?
5. What general experiences have you had with applications, the process, etc.
My jabra BT8040 worked perfectly with my Evo for the last 3-4 months. Then the other day, I lost connection to phone and had to re-connect (even having to re-enter the pairing code). After this, Now I can hear media through the blue tooth, however, I can no longer make / receive voice calls through the bluetooth even though it says it's paired. Tried a bunch of things (including re-pairing) and nothing seems to work. I'd hate to buy a new bluetooth and have the same problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen driving, I have my Droid X's audio output plugged into my car's radio, the radio's source is set to AUX, and my tunes play through the radio. So far, so good.
Then I bought the BlueAnt S4 Bluetooth phone device so I can make and receive calls while I'm driving. Also fine--except that now the phone is also sending my music to the BlueAnt device.
On the phone, under Settings, Wireless & Networking, Bluetooth Settings, I discovered that I can open up an options screen for the BlueAnt device. It lists two profiles, Phone and Media, both of which were originally checked. Happy to have found this, I unchecked the checkbox next to Media.
But my music is still coming through the BlueAnt device.
I powered the phone off and restarted it. No change, even though the Media profile has remained unchecked.
I got the update that Yahoo Mail 1.2.1 is available but it specifically says that Galaxy S phones aren't supported. Has anyone installed it to a rooted Capitivate? Experiences? I haven't yet installed it because I can't get side-loading enabled and I don't want to upgrade if I can't roll back to the prior version. That said, I hate the prior versions of Yahoo Mail because I find them extraordinarily slow. It routinely takes me >30 seconds for email body text to appear when I open a message.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWell, my upgrade date was yesterday and it's crunch time. I am leaning toward the X because of call quality and great GPS (important for me). I like the "flash and style" of the SF as well as the reasonable size. NEED SOME FINAL OPINIONS AND EXPERIENCES FROM SF USERS ON GPS AND CALL QUALITY- I have been here for many weeks and have read many posts on the topics which have left me cornfused- I am heading to Costco Verizon tomorrow night to ink a deal.
