Android :: Market Keep Telling Me Of Update When I Uninstall App / Stop It?
Jun 20, 2010
Recently there was an updated version of Android Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich, the free one from Market. But I was unable to install it as it always prompt me "Insufficient Memory". I've more than 100MB free internal memory (using App2sd) and over 5GB free on my SDcard. But it just refuse to let me install. So I tried downloading the apk too and install it using a root manager, but the installation also failed.
So I decided to give up on the app and remove the app. But yet Market still prompts me for an update (and my phone refuse to let me install it). I done a search on "jack" using my root manager to delete all files related with the app and even clear up all apps cache... but still Market prompts me!
What should I do to either:
1. Get this app to install successfully
or
2. Remove this app "cleanly"
or
3. Stop Market from showing me an "Update" for this app when it's already not in my phone?
Phone: Moto Milestone
Firmware: 2.1-update1

I have used Uninstaller to try to remove an app on my rooted Hero.
It certainly seems like it is removed. But, when I go to the Market to try to reinstall it, it as listed as "installed" in the Downloads section. When I click on it, both the "Open" and "Uninstall" buttons are grayed out. So, I can't even reinstall it.
The app is Yellowbook (US Yellow Pages Search).
Is there some residual file on my phone that I might be able to delete with ES File Explorer or via adb?

Has anyone else experienced an issue I've complained numerous times about yet can't get resolution: When users upgrade our My Coupons app, apparently there is a service left unclosed. Fine. The issue being, the old service code interferes with the new code and users uninstall then reinstall immediately in attempt to resolve. Google registers the uninstalls, but not the reinstalls.
I repeat, the market registers the uninstalls, but prompt reinstallations DO NOT get registered!
I can verify this occurs as each time the app is first run it notifies our servers, and we've got record of each install. This record vastly differs from the statistics google is reporting. These records are verifiably unique users.

My clock always gets delayed. I always have to connect to the network or wifi to get a time update, it gets delayed 2 or 3 times a day. some times even after a time update it pushes back the time for 5 minutes more or less. I'm thinking if I don't update 2 or more time a day, in a week my clock would be delayed by an hour or so.

I'm new to Android. Just got a HTC Hero yesterday, with the latest update of 2.2.
A couple of questions I can seem to find answered anywhere.
1. I can't figure out how uninstall apps.
2. I can't figure out how to set apps to auto-upgrade or what the function is to update all simultaneously. i've seen screenshots from others phone showing the "update all" function in Market. But it doesn't exist in mine. I'm wondering if that's because it doesn't exist for the Hero?

I'm new here.....I have the Samsung Fascinate and I had an app installed that was working fine. All of a sudden it just says installing and I can't do anything with it. I even uninstalled the offending app and it is still hung up on "installing" in the market...won't let me stop...won't let me cancel. I cleared the cache of the market in the manage apps section and that did nothing.

I am having a problem with this app. I may use it in the future, so I don't want to delete it. But it keeps randomly popping up. When I go into my running applications, 8 out of 10 times it is running. I shut it down, and it keeps popping back up. How can I stop it from running on its own? I only want it to run if I manually click on it. Went into application settings and can find nothing to toggle it off with. This happens on a bunch of applications, but Amazon MP3 is the most frequent.

I recently released an update to my application (about a week ago).
Since then, I've had two emails from users who report that, while updating the app through Market, the installation process gets "stuck" and never finishes. This is after the application has been downloaded. They can't abort the installation.
Did anyone here have similar reports recently?

This may be a dumb question, but my SD card is 8GB (same as the internal storage on the phone). When I plug into my PC, it shows two removable storage items. How do I know which one is the phone and which one is the SD card? Is the phone the one with all of the pre-loaded pics and such? Or does that info get moved to the SD card once its formated?

Searching around I've found loads of people have the same issue. Suddenly you'll loose access to gmail (unable to load, retry?), market place and sync just shows errors. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FACTORY RESET. Now I've found you can resolve easily by deleting the com.android.providers.settings older entirely via root, then rebooting. at shell type: rm -r /data/data/com.android.providers.settings. THEN REBOOT. You'll loose some settings, ringtones, notifications, screen brightness, but these are easily reset. If when you sync you get a ! you may also have to, or like to, clear the data under settings>apps> for gmail, gmailstorage, contacts, contactstorage, calender, calendarstorage - DO A SYNC FIRST AND CHECK IN YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT ON A PC AS YOU'LL LOOSE ANYTHING NOT SYNC'D. But why do so many devices suddenly bork requiring this? Does anyone know?

My Droid is stock 2.1, rooted with P3 1000 kernel. I have had the issues with stock kernel as well.
Basically, some apps keep telling me I have insufficient space available when I try to update them. The main culprits are Shopper, Space Physics, and NESoid. Sometimes, uninstalling/reinstalling works, but the latest updates of Space Physics and Shopper keep telling me insufficient space. Settings, Memory says I have 91.54 MB of internal space left. Also, uninstalling and doing Titanium restores dont seem to work either...but just for those apps.

I keep getting notifications about every half hour that Verizon's Visual Voicemail is unable to establish a connection. Then it tells me that it is likely only temporary and to check back later. Is there a problem? How often does it check? I have not gotten any voicemails, so I don't know whether it is actually working.
Edit: it also tells me it can't sync. I had to turn wifi off, but even then it gave these same messages.

After installing the 2.1 update onto a SE X10 mini the Android Market will not function. It opens, I can browse and select apps but when attempting to download it states 'starting Download', with a barber-pole bar, but the download goes no further. I have re-installed the update which seemed to work at first with one download working but then the same problem re-occurred. Based on info in other feedback on this blog I reviewed the app settings but there is no update to uninstall. how to get the Market to work?

I was just wondering if anyone knew a way to get rid of the notification telling you your text message has been sent successfully. Ever since I updated the new software this morning I keep getting these notifications when I send a text and it's driving me up the wall! I have been trying all day to get rid of it but I can't seem to find a way to do so.

I have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.
Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?

I'm new to this forum. I tried searching for the answer on both Google and multiple forums but the key words of 'Stop, app, update, notifications' tends to find a lot of hits or none at all if in quotes. I found this question posted perfectly at the droid forums.net but with no answer so I thought I would post it here with the hope that someone can find an answer.

Anytime there is bad weather I get these texts. This is happening from the stock weather app apparently. I haven't installed any weather apps. I tried to text "stop" and "end" back to them as reply, but no luck. I don't see anything under manage applications for weather that will let me change it.

I have one app (Astro File Manager) that is stuck in my downloads in the Market. I uninstalled the app, and it stays there. If I click on it, it takes me to the page for AFM, and if I click on cancel download, it force closes my market. I had about 6 apps doing the same thing, but when I clicked on them and canceled the download, and re updated, they all worked fine. Astro is the only one giving my problems. Any ideas on how to stop it and just redownload?

Looks like I've run into some breakage from 1.5 to 1.6 after all. I am registering location listeners with LocationManager.requestLocationUpdates() With GPS as location provider, I run into a problem with navigation stopping by itself after a few seconds, just to return, stop again, in an endless cycle. I haven't seen this prior to 1.6 Donut and I have no clue what might cause this problem.
Here's the Logcat output:

A web research for these logs didn't turn up anything (which is unusual in my experience), so this leads me to post the question here wondering what the root of the problem might be.

As Google's current support for paid apps in the Android Market is limited to the US market only (and even on the US market, would not support ADP1 phone), I really think you guys should stop posting your apps in there. Please make yourself a favor being able to reach the whole world and post your apps on androidgear or SlideMe or handango.

I have published application and now I'm making update to it. I changed applications Data structure and moved all files under /Android/ data/<package_name>/files/ folder. All files that are in that folder will be automatically removed when application is uninstalled.I want those files to be removed when application is uninstalled but not when it's UPDATED. I don't want users to lose all their data after every update. I don't know how to test it (without publishing new release). So will those files be deleted when user updates my application?
