View 1 RepliesI have a Timer which executes a TimerTask every 30 seconds. I only want the timer to launch a new TimerTask if the Activity is displayed i.e. if the user receives a phone call or launches a new activity the Timer will stop. I then need the Timer to restart when the Activity is re-launched and comes into focus.
Now this should be easy, I override the "onWindowFocusChanged(boolean hasFocus)" method and either start or stop the timer depending on the value of has Focus. The way I start the timer is to create a new Timer object and TimerTask each time and the way I stop the Timer is to call the cancel() method on the Timer object and set timer to null.
My problem is this doesn't always work, if I launch the activity which has the Timer and switch orientations quickly (to start/stop the Activity) I find the Timer is not always canceled and I end up with multiple Timers launching TimerTasks at an ever increasing rate.
I had a timer set and it beeps when its done. if you have the timer page open, a popup comes up that says dismiss. however, if you aren't on the timerpage and you are doing something else when it goes off, it will just keep beeping and there is no button to shut it off!!!! are you kidding me? this is the worst glitch i have found on this phone.

private Button btnStart;

Now that I sort of know my way around the SDK/API, I've switched from Eclipse back to my favorite text editor, which means I have to use ant to build my project, however:
It seems every other time I compile the project, a lot of drawables get corrupted, resources lose their ids (resulting in NPEs in the code), or classes throw "Verify Errors".
The only way to fix this is by removing the bin and gen folders, and recompiling, which is obviously annoying.
Is there any way to avoid this?
btw, I'm using ant 1.7.1, java version "1.6.0_20"
I am developing a camera application , where the frame rate is important. However, camera uses a preview callback function which allocates a byte[] array of 230400 bytes, which makes it necessary for the garbage collection to step in. Can someone suggest me a way to avoid garbage collection stepping in?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know that a lot of you have been having issues with this app. I thought that I'd try to make some suggestions that could or could not solve things.
- Make sure that you press the "Turn on alarm" check box at the very top of an alarm. I've missed it once before (my first time) and thought it was on because I pressed "Done" and even though it said that it was set for "6 hours and 53 minutes from now", it wasn't activated.
- Turn on "Vibrate" and have it rest on a wooden surface, like a night stand for example.
- Have "Repeat" set to the day that you want it on, even if its just for that day. This has helped some people.
- Have the "Backup alarm" on just in case.
- Have the volume turned all the way up. This definitely wakes me up every time because it can get really loud, especially when you're sleepy.
- Instead of playing one of the stock alarm ringtones, play an MP3 file. Play a song that can get loud, but I recommend to turn on "Volume" (which increases the volume gradually) so it doesn't startle you.
- Make sure that the speaker on the back isn't at risk of any muffling by fabric.
- Turn your phone over on its front to completely expose the speaker.
Go ahead and try a test alarm with all of these in mind (like set it to go off in 2 minutes) and see how it works out. I've made my mistakes by accidentally leaving it on a T-shirt (which definitely muffled the sound), forgetting to turn up the volume loud enough, and by forgetting to actually press "Turn on alarm" (as previously stated). If any of those suggestions do not work out for you, then you're on your own with a 3rd party app.
This is something that I have been trying to get my head around for a bit, and I did find one post over in the Inc forum that had a mix of applications that were good for traveling, but I wanted to see if anyone in here might be able to help with some ideas.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I recently got the DROID and so far really like the phone and all that it can do. My wife has been having some problems where she would hold the phone to her ear with her shoulder and she will accidentally mute her call, or some times put the call on speaker phone. Has anyone else experienced this issue? As hard as i have tried, i am unable to duplicate her issue with her phone or mine...

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone have experience with a good countdown timer that works well with Droid? I think I downloaded the "Ultimate Stopwatch" once and it didn't work well (The alarm sound was way too soft). There are dozens of timer apps, and it seems people have various problems with all of them, aside from maybe a few pay ones. But I just want something really simple. Just for timing things like cooking stuff in the oven and poker games. Any suggestions?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI noticed a lot of the pics that get uploaded are images of webpages I looked at on my phone.I never long pressed and saved them. Some are of the whole webpage, and sometimes there might be a couple more of the same webpage but zoomed in closer and closer. It's so weird. When I look in my photo albums on the phone, it doesn't show these images. Every time I am finished uploading pics I have to go through and delete a ton of them cause they're random images. How do I stop my phone from saving images like this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not sure which is the culprit, but while playing back video or even at random times, the screen shifts lighter or darker seemingly at random, and one time during a video playback on the TV.com app, it went black altogether. I am not sure whether it is the timer or the ambient light sensor, but I am tempted to turn the sensor off and push the timer back a lot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTried looking around but couldn't find what i was looking for/people didn't respond to the other posts... so is it just me or is it super hard looking for a good music player...
currently I'm using cubed but i dont like it. people swear by it but im not following. its seems a bit clunky, it scrolls terribly, and i dont like the lockscreen controls.
for my question. i can deal with a music player like cubed BUT I'm looking for a music player with lockscreen controls that doesn't disable the timer/alarm notices. the lockscreen controls with cubed is $#!t. you press "unlock" even by accident and it unlocks (dont like that). and it doesn't even show you the time, so i have to completely unlock the phone and lock it again just to view the time. AND i cant see when my next alarm is going to go off. really inconvenient.
Does anyone know of a music player that has lockscreen controls that does not disable the clock/alarm notices when you wake up the phone before you unlock it?
With Advanced Task Killer, which apps should I exclude to avoid poor app performance. For example, I realized after reading another thread today that I should exclude the Weather Channel widget. I could not figure out why the weather conditions did not update automatically. Excluded the widget and now it updates. Any other apps that are similar?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk, there is literally no way that I'm the only one who has asked this question but I can't find the answer by searching. Here's my problem, after I flash my rom and restart my phone the market begins auto-downloading all the apps I previously had installed. I do not want this bc I use titanium backup for all of that.
I know I can avoid it temporarily if I skip entering my email address, but there has to be a setting for me to un check that will make it not try to auto download anything once I do add my account.
I'm sure you guys have all run into this by now, so can someone please tell me what setting will resolve this issue?
My battery keeps on over heating when i charge it. My battery started acting funny this week when i plugged it in to the charger and it would charge stop charge stop continuous. Should i take it up to Verizon and see what they say.
