My Gmail account works great, and I have my aol and yahoo acounts set up no problem (well the yahoo was a little problem but got it to work so thats all that matters). I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know that a lot of you have been having issues with this app. I thought that I'd try to make some suggestions that could or could not solve things.
- Make sure that you press the "Turn on alarm" check box at the very top of an alarm. I've missed it once before (my first time) and thought it was on because I pressed "Done" and even though it said that it was set for "6 hours and 53 minutes from now", it wasn't activated.
- Turn on "Vibrate" and have it rest on a wooden surface, like a night stand for example.
- Have "Repeat" set to the day that you want it on, even if its just for that day. This has helped some people.
- Have the "Backup alarm" on just in case.
- Have the volume turned all the way up. This definitely wakes me up every time because it can get really loud, especially when you're sleepy.
- Instead of playing one of the stock alarm ringtones, play an MP3 file. Play a song that can get loud, but I recommend to turn on "Volume" (which increases the volume gradually) so it doesn't startle you.
- Make sure that the speaker on the back isn't at risk of any muffling by fabric.
- Turn your phone over on its front to completely expose the speaker.
Go ahead and try a test alarm with all of these in mind (like set it to go off in 2 minutes) and see how it works out. I've made my mistakes by accidentally leaving it on a T-shirt (which definitely muffled the sound), forgetting to turn up the volume loud enough, and by forgetting to actually press "Turn on alarm" (as previously stated). If any of those suggestions do not work out for you, then you're on your own with a 3rd party app.
has anyone found the timer option with the camera yet?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone have experience with a good countdown timer that works well with Droid? I think I downloaded the "Ultimate Stopwatch" once and it didn't work well (The alarm sound was way too soft). There are dozens of timer apps, and it seems people have various problems with all of them, aside from maybe a few pay ones. But I just want something really simple. Just for timing things like cooking stuff in the oven and poker games. Any suggestions?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs the alarm on the installed countdown timer really really low on everyone else's phone? I use the same style ringer for my alarm clock and timer. The clock is fine, but the timer alarm is so low it can barely be heard at the highest setting, 7. Is this normal?

I am not sure whether it is the timer or the ambient light sensor, but I am tempted to turn the sensor off and push the timer back a lot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTried looking around but couldn't find what i was looking for/people didn't respond to the other posts... so is it just me or is it super hard looking for a good music player...
currently I'm using cubed but i dont like it. people swear by it but im not following. its seems a bit clunky, it scrolls terribly, and i dont like the lockscreen controls.
for my question. i can deal with a music player like cubed BUT I'm looking for a music player with lockscreen controls that doesn't disable the timer/alarm notices. the lockscreen controls with cubed is $#!t. you press "unlock" even by accident and it unlocks (dont like that). and it doesn't even show you the time, so i have to completely unlock the phone and lock it again just to view the time. AND i cant see when my next alarm is going to go off. really inconvenient.
Does anyone know of a music player that has lockscreen controls that does not disable the clock/alarm notices when you wake up the phone before you unlock it?
I was able to successfully setup a POP account through the Setup Screen...in fact when I go back through Setup, I still see the account. The problem is I can't DO anything with it in setup (including deleting it to start over) and it doesn't show up in my Apps window with an icon! I see it on the setup screen labeled "Setup Accounts" but no matter if I tap it or hold it or swipe it or try to hit the menu key, it just sits there. There is a green button with the checkmark in it. I guess what I would think i ought to be able to do is to assign it an icon (or even get a generic one) and find the account listed on my app screen...I'm willing to reset it, but I can't even delete it to start!

Indeed, I have a Timer wich is "scheduled AtFixedRate", but when my App is updated through the market, the timer is killed ; and if the user doesn't launch the App, the timer is not started (so my app becomes useless). How could I do to avoid it ? Is there an event to catch the "App updated" ? I searched, tried, but nothing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have to give a 20x20 presentation tomorrow and I'm looking for a timer app to help out. 20x20 means that each slide auto-advances after 20 seconds. I'd like to have a timer on my phone that would give me a quick glance of how much time I have left for each slide. Start it at 20 seconds, have it count down and when it hits zero, start over at 20. Seeing as it's just a timer app, I really would rather not pay $2 for StopWatch & Timer, which is the only one I've found that offers a looping timer. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is there a timer within Android that can be set for a given interval and when the interval has elapsed to send a signal back to a listener routine inthe main programme? Something like the way a button reacts when clicked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using a Timer in my android application, but i can't get it to work. When I start my application the Timer simply does not start. The application continues but does not update. The long "toStart" finds the number of seconds left of the current minute, and thereafter the period is set to 60 seconds. The TimerTask simply calls a method.

For example, I use my Eris as my MP3 player and would like to listen to it while I go to sleep, however I don't wanna let it play all night while I'm sleeping maybe just an hour or so.*Edit* Nevermind I found an app that does the job. Its called Music Sleep. It lets you set a timer that will close your music app in case anyone else was interested. It only costs 99 cents

I have an activity that uses a Timer (java.util.Timer) to control the display. I set it off to repeat its run() method every second or so. When it runs, it updates some View elements.
As Timer runs in its own thread, I assumed this would be reliable. But I notice that sometimes there is a stutter, or delay, in the views updating. It's like they occasionally get stacked up, and all happen together. Studying the output from logcat, I notice that this happens when the device is doing something else - some system functions, or sometimes a garbage collection.
How can I avoid this? I'm not aware I can run the main activity in a thread of its own, can I? If the timer has its own thread, why is it affected?
I've created an app that functions as a countdown timer via a thread, a wakelock, and a handler back to my activity. My question is, what will cause my thread to die, or app to not be running in memory anymore? I've had this happen once, and can't seem to recreate it again.
