Android :: Supress Native In Call Screen And Replace With 3rd Party?
Mar 5, 2010
Currently creating a VOIP application for Android and I was wondering is there any possible way to supress the In Call Dialog when sending a call over GSM and use our own 3rd party In Call Dialog or screen instead? At the minute when we switch from our VOIP call and send it over GSM via the ACTION_CALL intent it does everything we want except it brings up the native In Call screen whereas we want our own In Call screen to display here.So I was wondering what kind of options we would have on this?

I need react to an incoming call and show two big buttons any way (new dialog, modifing incallscreen,...). I got start a new activity, but it appears after I reject incoming call. I need my activity appears over inCallScreen. Another thing I thought is use NDK, but I don't know if NDK support this.

I don't like the sense screen that comes up when you make calls, and I have google voice installed. How do I make sure that the google voice screen, pictured below, sticks instead of having it switch to the sense call screen. Also, can I theme the google voice app? I'm not a fan of the colors.

Does the Dinc have a way of ending the call automatically when the other party hang up without me having to physically push the end button. I guess this is useful when talking while driving and you know the phone will end the call when you set it aside instead of having to look on the screen. Is there a way to display while calling if the call is connected or the other party still has not picked up the phone.

I'd like to know if it's possible to associate a protocol (for example: 'myapp') to a native application installed on a Blackberry (or Android) so that if a user types in 'myapp://xxx' in a web browser it calls the native application. In this case, how is it possible to achieve it? As far as I understood, it's possible to do it with iphone but I don't know if it's possible with blackberry or android.

Same problem that I've read on other posts. I don't want the soft keyboard to pop up when the Activity loads. The above code snippet works, however my View no longer scrolls up so that the User can still see the EditText. It scrolls without this line of code. Any ideas?

I've seen a lot of remarks about good call recorder apps for the EVO 4G. None of them are really that good or reliable.
To take advantage of native call recording on the EVO 4G, all you need to do is set the phone call to speaker after connected and then start the Voice Recorder app that comes with the phone. It records both sides of the conversation very clearly and you can adjust the speaker volume to about 75% for optimum audio capturing.
In the state of Texas, it is legal to record any conversation without informing the other party that you are doing so. Be sure to check with your state before recording any phone calls covertly.

My car has BT for 'phone' and 'audio'.I never play audio that way though. The problem is that when I get in the car and it BT connects, the phone auto brings up the music app and starts to play. I don't have the car head unit set for that input method, so the tunes go nowhere, but suck battery life. There is no way to tell the head unit to not use BT audio when connected. Is there a way to have the phone not bring up the music app when BT connected?

I have several modules within a single native library, each module is intended to be the compliment to a Java class within the application. How can I call the native functions without having to perform a System. load Library within each Java class? If I load the library in a common class (not through inheritance) the app fails with a link exception.

So my screen is freakin wrecked. I dropped it from about 2 feet into a pile of leaves. I picked it up and dusted it off and didn't see any problems. I took it in side and set it on the table and came back in 10 minutes and had a crack running about 2.5" diagonally across the screen and a little one in the corner. After about an hour another one showed up running horizontally across the screen.
I find it hard to believe that the fall it took would cause the glass to shatter like it did. I think it might have been the temp difference of bringing it inside.....>90 to ~68. Should I contact VZW or HTC first? Any recommendations on 3rd party repairs?

I was wondering if anyone can tell if how to pop a dialog screen up over a native Android screen? I currently have an application that traps an outgoing call and stops it, I then want to pop up a dialog that would take over from the dialler screen and alert the user that there attempt to call has been blocked and allow them have some new options from the dialog.

Is it possible, from within my android java app, to capture an image of what is on the screen, even if it was written using native (ndk)? I do not wish to take screen shots of other apps, just my own. I can already capture and image of a canvas that I am aware of, but is there a view or canvas or something like it that always represents what is on the screen, so that a) I don't have to capture the separate views images and recompile them, and b) I can see what my native (jni) code is doing with the graphics too?

I've got an HTC Wildfire, and I've started using Handcent for SMS messages. After a forum search I was able to get rid of the notifications from the default messaging app, so thanks to the forum for that. Is there any way to replace the default messaging app's screen with Hand cent? I'm talking about the messaging screen you get to if you swipe twice to the right from the home screen, i.e. Home > Mail > Messaging

My Incredible has been exhibiting some annoying problems, but the one that really irked me was the VERY pink screen when it was dimmed to a lower brightness setting. I got a very nice tier 2 rep who said he'd put me on the list for a replacement, but I would not receive it until mid august.Yesterday, my neighbor came over with a box; said that FedEx gave it to him since I was not home to sign. It was another inc! It was just the bare phone, and in the "certified replacement" packaging. No pink hue, no sound quality issues. I'm happy. I just found it strange that these things are on heavy backorder, and I somehow got one immediately.

I have the original Droid. I take very good care of it, but I needed to have the phone with me while I was at the gym last night and it fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked. It still works but the screen obviously needs to be replaced. I weep quietly every time I take the phone out of my pocket now to use it.
However, I have the Best Buy Geek Squad Blacktie Protection plan on the phone - the one for $10/mo. I am getting conflicting information as to whether they are going to take my phone and replace the glass or if they are just going to supply me with a new phone. I'll know more when I take it in for service.
My issue is this, I am rooted running a custom Froyo 2.2 ROM. Should I unroot and dial back to 2.1 before I return the phone or should I just bring it in? Has anyone had any experience with this one way or the other?
