Can Call To Native Function Without Load Library
Mar 22, 2012
I have several modules within a single native library, each module is intended to be the compliment to a Java class within the application. How can I call the native functions without having to perform a System. load Library within each Java class? If I load the library in a common class (not through inheritance) the app fails with a link exception.

I created a jni library which depends the third shared library, I must copy the third shared library to /system/lib, otherwise, Java application can't load jni library. But you know, on G1 with official OS image, /system/lib is readonly. I tried to call System.setProperty to set java.library.path to the location stored the thired shared library before load jni library, but the issue still exists.

I am now writing a java application. On java side I use System.loadLibrary() to load my own native shared library( named a.so ). I want a.so can communicate with another native shared library(named b.so). When a.so and b.so are loaded in the memory, they belonged to 2 different process. I am not familiar with IPC in android and binder mechanism. How can I do to make a.so communicate with b.so?

I have developed bluetooth application where native library will be initiated by Java application (using JNI wrapper). JNI will call the entry function of the native library and then it will create Pthread to for scanning the device. Once Scanning is over, i will get the callback which i registered during the entry function of the native lib (called by app). But i haven't received the callback, but if i run the same native library in the shell (executable from the shell terminal) it is working fine. Can any one help me, if there is any specific architecture needs to follow while developing Java application based on native lib?

Here my application "com.android.hello" calls a core library "libvt.so" through JNI call. There is a segmentation fault in "libvt.so". When executed I get the following log What I see is some Hex value followed by a library name. #00 pc afe0d24c /system/lib/libc.so
Also there is a Stack section 01-01 00:02:57.800: INFO/DEBUG(1600): stack: 01-01 00:02:57.800: INFO/DEBUG(1600):bef2e570 bef2e604 [stack] 01-01 00:02:57.810: INFO/DEBUG(1600):bef2e574 afe0a333 /system/ lib/libc.so
This too gives similar information. I am looking for little more informations rather than Hex values. Like the backtrace feature where the stack hex values is mapped to the function names and function names are visible.
Please provide information how to see the function names in stack rather than Hex values. Is ther any compiler options needs to be updated? Any makefile to be updated to enable backtrace?

Using AIR for Android, is it possible to call from Flex into an NDK library? If so, how can this be done? I have a large C library that I need to use. I know that I can do this from an Android Java app (through JNI), but I have a large Flex codebase that I'd like to reuse.

I've seen a lot of remarks about good call recorder apps for the EVO 4G. None of them are really that good or reliable.
To take advantage of native call recording on the EVO 4G, all you need to do is set the phone call to speaker after connected and then start the Voice Recorder app that comes with the phone. It records both sides of the conversation very clearly and you can adjust the speaker volume to about 75% for optimum audio capturing.
In the state of Texas, it is legal to record any conversation without informing the other party that you are doing so. Be sure to check with your state before recording any phone calls covertly.

I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.
Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.
Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.
The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:
D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so
What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.

I'd like to know if it's possible to associate a protocol (for example: 'myapp') to a native application installed on a Blackberry (or Android) so that if a user types in 'myapp://xxx' in a web browser it calls the native application. In this case, how is it possible to achieve it? As far as I understood, it's possible to do it with iphone but I don't know if it's possible with blackberry or android.

say for example I have this code in my activity:
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.main);
Thread cThread = new Thread(new Runner());
cThread.start();
}
private NotifyMe(){
//do something here
}
and this is my Runner class:
public class TCPClient implements Runnable {
public void run(){

I've noticed with my T-Mobile G2 that there is no call waiting alert with the default settings, so I'm never aware of someone trying to ring me from within another call - a function that's been standard on every other mobile I've used.
I'm sure it must be possible to set this up, but can't seem to find out how to do it. Very annoying, as I invariably get calls on top of one another and people are starting to tell me they're sick of being put through to my voicemail.

I would like to compile a list of Android phones that either
1) Comes with native call recording functionality.
2) Support call recording with 3rd party applications.
It would be great if you can lend a hand.Please note that phone/apps that require using speakerphone to record the calls do *not* count. That's a ugly hack I consider marginally useful.Please don't bring legality discussions here as well.Models that have this function built-in.Samsung Galaxy S (South Korean version SHW-M110S, with firmware DH09 or newer).Models that don't have this function built-in but can use 3rd party app to record calls in both ways without turning on speakerphone.HTC Magic (a.k.a. G2); requires root and custom kernel; with rViox
