Im using LauncherPro on my Desire, and I really like the look of it, especially after choosing to hide the notification bar at the top. The one thing I am missing is the signal strength indicator. Are there any widgets out there that would display this? The more customisable the better of course!

I want to capture audio and along with the audio I also want to show the live signal strength of the audio on the screen.
Is there ant api that give me information regarding the the loudness level (or at least some information indicating whether the user is silent or speaking something) of the audio or should I implement my own signal processing using the captured buffers and determine the level.
I'm just trying to figure out what the heck that indicator is. Sorry, I'm a little new to all this. It looks like the phone but to the left is a weird squiggly line.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I just get off the phone with a friend and I notice that the phone is miraculously showing full bars. I'm in the basement no less where it usually shows zero bars. After checking I now see it's showing zero bars again! I've never seen any phone with this much of a swing in the signal meter. To me, it's become almost humorous to watch it go from 4 to 0 then back again all in 10 seconds time. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, I hope Samsung fixes this problem in a future update as well. If no one else is having this problem I may exchange this phone for a new one.

My signal strength fluctuates wildly just sitting in the same spot. With the Hero I got a constant 5 of 6 bars, but the Moment will vary between 0 and 5 of 6 bars. But it's more complicated than that.
It seems that whenever the EVDO data kicks in, it causes the signal strength to drop to 0 or 1 bar. Once the data is idle, the EVDO indicator turns grey and then changes from EV(^v) to EV(D). At that point the single strength will return to 3 or 4 bars.
At times, though not as consistently or often, the EVDO connection will fall back to 1xRTT and will switch between them every few minutes. This will occur even when the signal strength bars are in the 3 to 4 range.
So, the my questions are...
Does the signal strength apply to the data signal or just the voice signal?
Is there any legitimate reason for the signal strength to vary wildly like I've described, even when sitting in the same recliner where the Hero had a constant 5 bar connection and data service that never wavered?
Is anyone else having signal strength and/or data service issues?
Should I exchange the Moment for another Moment or will I likely experience the same issue?
Anyone know of a 3g toggle widget on the market like the one on the incredible? I live in a horrible reception area and my dx gets hot and gets a lot of battery drain searching for 3g. I noticed my incredibles battery life improved vast amounts when I turned the 3g off when I'm not using data.
View 20 Replies View Relatedi'm beginning to think that in 2.2, if you have a lower signal strength (such as i do in my house), it can't tell your location anymore. in my house, wiht 2.1, it always told me my town. now, with 2.2, it says, fro the most part with a lower signal, "current location." however, when i turn wifi on, it'll tell me my town right away, leading me to believe that since my wifi signal is great in my house, it's giving me the correct location.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought this handy little widget a few weeks ago because it gives me a much better idea of my signal strength. It works great most of the time. The only issues come when I reboot my phone and the widget, option for the widget and icon disappear from my phone. I have to uninstall/reinstall it to get it back up again. I emailed the dev and have yet to receive a response. Any ideas on a fix for this or is it just a marketing scam to inflate his download numbers?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can get a few minutes of 4G signal at my home per day, but when it drops out and 3G takes over, the signal will flatline and boot me offline. My 3G speeds are usually around 56-150Kbps or less, and my 4G speeds are around 2.5 Mbps What would cause this ? According to WiMax location sites online, my nearest 4G tower is .52 mile away. I would think that if I actually get 4G signal, then 3G would be constant. Turning off 4G doesn't help either. Is there some setting that I could have turned off that would cause this ? Running stock EVO on 2.2 all the latest updates

I am having trouble getting the "current" cell signal strength, but I don't have any problem getting the "neighboring" cell signal strengths. To get the current cell signal strength, I created a PhoneStateListener and implemented the onSignalStrengthChanged callback. It works, but not very well. It seems like the signal strength hardly ever changes, and resolution jumps to only a few numbers. I would accept the answer that the resolution of the signal strength hardware is coarse, but when I use the TelephonyManager's getNeighboringCellInfo() method, it works much better. The signal strength readings from neighboring cells change frequently, and they have much better resolution.So, how can I get the current cell signal strength in the same way that I am getting the neighboring cell strengths? It seems odd to me that the functionality of the neighboring cells is better than the current cell. Am I missing something here?I would also like to directly call a method from the telephony manager to get current cell strength, as opposed to a listener, if possible. If anyone knows how, please let me know.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy droid x signal pretty much always between -92dBm and -87dBm with 1-3 3g bars. My former droid eris would get -92dBm with 1 bar and also drain incredibly fast.
On the droid x, if I go into google maps, the circle of the cell tower appears and the place I live at is half way within the edge of the circle and the other half is outside of the circle. I always seem to be connected to this tower. Bad luck I guess that I'm on the outskirts of the circle.
Does anyone know how cell towers are distributed? Do they overlap sometimes?
I run pandora with the screen off for a half hour with the screen off and my battery is down to 70%. I have about 15% screen brightness and battery saving mode on.
yesterday, I was on meebo for an hour and 45 minutes and it was down to 60% from a full charge.
I absolutely love this app! They just updated the app so that it will log what's using the battery. The app will now provide you with battery power left depicted in time by usage, for example heavy usage. I'm loving the update. Also, if you have the app log everything that's utilizing the battery, you will see a decrease in battery power. So read the tips/hints the developer included with the update before having the app log everything.

What is strange is that I try the application API_Demo with an emulator WVGA800 or an emulator with "abstracted LCD density" to 240 and I go to ExpandableList1 activity and all is alright !
I also try to copy the inner class available in ExpandableList1 for adapter and I launch it into my activity and I also have the problem see on photo

I know how to do it by making my own custom items in a ListView. Is that how they probably did it? Thus with their own drawable on the right? I'm kindof hoping I don't need to do it this way, that there's already something in existence for it :)

i'm trying to use TabHost and TabWidget in my Android application.The problem is that i do not want my tabs to be so tall (65px). However, if i set the layout_height of the TabWidget to e.g. 30px, i can't see the tab labels (indicator) on the tabs at all.Seems like there is a "minimum required" height for the TabWidget (65px?) and the indicator is positioned at the bottom of this 65px?Is there a way to adjust the positioning of the indicator?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI dunked my Moto Droid as I fell into a pool this weekend. I probably tried to boot it too soon after that happened, but now a few days later it is operational. Theres a few flecks in the screen display but otherwise I cannot notice any serious deficiencies in the interface. The one major problem I am having however is with the battery. Obviously, it got wet as well, and when the phone did become operational again, it indicated about 50% charge and went down from there as I used it. After it powered down though, when I plugged it in to charge the battery indicator showed a question mark and I can no longer charge it. The Droid will operate when plugged into a wall outlet only (not my computer). Is it possible that replacing the battery is the only necessary fix?
