Android :: How To Set Position Of Indicator Text?

i'm trying to use TabHost and TabWidget in my Android application.The problem is that i do not want my tabs to be so tall (65px). However, if i set the layout_height of the TabWidget to e.g. 30px, i can't see the tab labels (indicator) on the tabs at all.Seems like there is a "minimum required" height for the TabWidget (65px?) and the indicator is positioned at the bottom of this 65px?Is there a way to adjust the positioning of the indicator?

And if I'm running emulator WVGA800 or an emulator with "abstracted LCD density" to 240 I have the same problem, but with my phone (HTC G1), I don't have any problem.
What is strange is that I try the application API_Demo with an emulator WVGA800 or an emulator with "abstracted LCD density" to 240 and I go to ExpandableList1 activity and all is alright !
I also try to copy the inner class available in ExpandableList1 for adapter and I launch it into my activity and I also have the problem see on photo
I am forced to manage density into my adapters in order to adjust the padding?

I recently had to do a factory reset and I lost all my apps. One of them was a text battery indicator that put a 1x1 icon on my screen that was transparent and just said "ninety percent" I can't find it at all in the market. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and remember the name?

I want to insert a constant string into an EditText by the press of a button. The string should be inserted at the current position in the EditText.
If I use EditText.append the text gets inserted at the end of the EditText.
How can I do that? I couldn't find a suitable method.

If there was any way that I could get a hint at the bottom of an Edit Text view -- and then the user to start entering text at the top of the box.
As a bonus question, is there any way I can make the hint NOT disappear once the user starts entering text.

Does smomeone know how I set the scrollbar position in an EditView programmatically.
I'm appending the text during special events but I want the EditView to scroll down to the latest text added so it'll be visible. But default the scrollbar does not move automatically when appending text.

I am creating a list .. the elements of the list are drawn from sqlite database .. I populate the list using ArrayList and ArrayAdapter ...upon clicking the items on the list I want to be able to fire an intent containing info about the item clicked ... info like the index number of the item .. using the method : onItemClick(AdapterView av, View v, int index, long arg)
I do get index of the item clicked . however it is of the list currently displayed . the problem comes when I do setFilterTextEnabled(true) , and on the app type in some text to to search some item ..and then click it ..rather than giving me the index of the item on the original list it gives me the index on filtered list..
following is the snippet of code:

I believe I know the basics and have successfully published a nice graphical game (Tairu). I know about inflating an xml layout and instantiating views that work.
For my current project, I really just want something similar to the Windows 'DrawText' function where it will draw a bit of a text inside an arbitrary rectangle of the surface, and do word wrap within that rectangles boundaries. That's what I really WANT, but I can't find any form of drawText that will wrap.
So, while that's what I WANT, I can accept the thought of programmatically instantiating a TextView (which wraps beautifully). But I still need to be able to provide the rectangle, which is highly dynamic. (which is why I want to call a form of drawText inside of my onDraw method). In this particular case, I have something which is static to a particular view instance (I mean, the View becomes visible, the position is set, and does not change after that. but the text position is dependent on game state and cannot be pre-determined inside an XML layout). So in this one case, I could afford the expense of runtime recalculation of the layout when the view is displayed.
OK, fine. So I do something like this:

main_frame is defined in my main XML layout (it is the outermost layout, fills the parent, and, as I said, I've tried all the offered layouts)
With this code, the textView appears, but along the top of the layout, and not using the width I provided either.

makes no difference. In fact, so far, NOTHING has made any difference. So I thought, ok, while this seems like a useful thing to be able to do, I can accept if it can't. I accept that it is impossible to provide dimensions in advance and that you have to override the measure and layout callbacks then requestLayout and in your overrides, force the final layout for the TextView.
Of course, that is completely unacceptable for my FIRST desire (a drawText that wraps to a rectangle, called from onDraw as needed). But the point is I feel something like that OUGHT to work, and it doesn't, so clearly this is MY fault.
Getting back to what I WANT, I guess I can do it myself by repeated calls to measure text and parsing the string for spaces until I get the N characters which fit on the first line, then repeat for additional lines, calling a normal drawText for each line (and using textMetrics to determine the vertical offset to the next line.)
But why wouldn't that method already exist? I promise not to fill the screen with a zillion calls, and/or to cache pre-rendered text on some bitmap somewhere if antialiased drawText is too expensive to repeat frequently.

How do you position the cursor in a text box? Evidently, some of the other Galaxy S models have an alternate keypad pop up when you press and hold the ?123 key in a text box.I have not been able to make it work on my Fascinate. On my htc i was looking through display, i see g sensor calibration and i perform this calibration and after i do so the screen seems to have a delay when switch from the horizontal position to the vertical position. its weird because when i switch to the phone horizontally it switch normally and responds fast. but when i switch back to vertically it takes almost 7 seconds to actually switch back, sometimes it switch within 2 or 3 secs but never as quick as switching horizontally.

If you're already updated, shut down and repower (soft reboot) should do the trick. I actually updated my phone and after it started to do this. I absolutely love this app! They just updated the app so that it will log what's using the battery. The app will now provide you with battery power left depicted in time by usage, for example heavy usage. I'm loving the update. Also, if you have the app log everything that's utilizing the battery, you will see a decrease in battery power. So read the tips/hints the developer included with the update before having the app log everything.

I'm trying to make a map with showing my location with an arrow that point to the way we are facing. the arraw image is something like this:

I would like to ask if google map's north is always on 12 o'clock? because i try sometimes the arrow point to wrong direction. how to accurately make this thing works?

Im using LauncherPro on my Desire, and I really like the look of it, especially after choosing to hide the notification bar at the top. The one thing I am missing is the signal strength indicator. Are there any widgets out there that would display this? The more customisable the better of course!

Anybody knows how to get the ">" sign in the listview? Like for example is done in the gocart app (now shopsavvy), see screenshots here: http://code.google.com/intl/nl/android/adc/adc_gallery/app.html?id=17 The idea of the ">" sign is to show the user there's more information available (when clicking on the entry).
I know how to do it by making my own custom items in a ListView. Is that how they probably did it? Thus with their own drawable on the right? I'm kindof hoping I don't need to do it this way, that there's already something in existence for it :)
Is there a theme or something else that does it for you? Or at least an existing drawable (I did not find it here [url]

how to change the tab indicator's images in android? there is a tab_indicator.xml file in-built in android sdk. in that the Relative layout has the background as a tab_indicator file as background. how to customize this images in tab_indicator and set our new images? I want to capture audio and along with the audio I also want to show the live signal strength of the audio on the screen.
Is there ant api that give me information regarding the the loudness level (or at least some information indicating whether the user is silent or speaking something) of the audio or should I implement my own signal processing using the captured buffers and determine the level.

I've got a G1 that is rooted and currently running Cyanogen 4.2.9.1. Here's my n00b questions. In the upper notification area how do I disable the digital clock and the battery indicator? The answer should be the same for rooted vs non-rooted so hopefully that's not an issue.

I dunked my Moto Droid as I fell into a pool this weekend. I probably tried to boot it too soon after that happened, but now a few days later it is operational. Theres a few flecks in the screen display but otherwise I cannot notice any serious deficiencies in the interface. The one major problem I am having however is with the battery. Obviously, it got wet as well, and when the phone did become operational again, it indicated about 50% charge and went down from there as I used it. After it powered down though, when I plugged it in to charge the battery indicator showed a question mark and I can no longer charge it. The Droid will operate when plugged into a wall outlet only (not my computer). Is it possible that replacing the battery is the only necessary fix?

In that i applied font color,font names,font size options for user.But these options will apply for whole text available in edit text. But my problem is i want to apply user selected settings (like font color,size,font) for user selected text instead of Whole text. i want to apply the user selected font/color/size to the user selected text.How?
