After locking my phone and shutting down the screen, anytime I receive an SMS, the screen lights up and stays on.
The only way I've found to avoid this is to turn off the "notification in status bar" option within the Messaging Settings area.
This is super annoying when I receive a text late at night, wake up, and see that my phone has been on for the last 6 hours and battery drained.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe thing is that time to time my device does not respond to screen touch. For instance: then there is an incoming call it stays blank and I can not see who is calling and at the same time not able to answer it.
Touching the screen does nothing, only after pushing hard buttons, I am able to terminate the call. Also, when I am trying to access the OS from sleep mode by pressing the power button--there is no home screen--it stays blank. The only thing it does---the lights go on the home, menu, back and search buttons.
I did contact ot HTC help service and they told me to try to use the device in safe mode for two days. (this should terminate all 3rd party applications, that might cause the issue). Its my first day that I am use is in the safe mode and so far I do not experience any problems.
I do suspect that the reason of my problem could be the task killer that I am using in order to eliminator some programs running in background. But I did try out several task killers so far, however the issue remains the same
My screen will not timeout unless I press the lock button. This started about 2 weeks ago. It will occassionally work fine. I changed the timeout settings to 30 seconds from 1 minute...still same problem. I have removed the battery also. I saw a few people with droid had the identical problem with no replies with a fix.

When you pull it away from your face the screen is supposed to come back on. My Ally's screen refuses to light back up. If I slide the keyboard out before the call ends the screen will come back on. If the call ends before I do that I have a black/dead screen for a random amount of time. This happened on stock rom and Velocity.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI hadn't charged my Droid in two days (yep, still working with GPS and WiFi on), so I thought I'd see how the phone alerted me that the battery was almost dead. When the LED began to flash red, the screen lighted up showing the lock screen with a notification that the battery has less than 10% charge remaining.
However, the screen would not turn off. It stayed illuminated, even after I (briefly) pushed the power button.
If I had wanted to preserve battery power, my only choice was to completely power off the phone.
This is the only situation I've encountered when the screen doesn't shut off after a period of inactivity. Also the only instance when it doesn't shut off when the power button is pressed. And it's probably the only situation where one would want these actions to occur to prevent faster battery drainage.
What have others noticed when their battery is dying?
Since getting the CL14 update last weekend, I've noticed an odd quirk. When I plug my phone in to charge, once it reaches full charge, I'm used to seeing the screen come on for a few seconds showing "Fully Charged." But since the update, the screen never turns back off. I can plug it in overnight, and in the morning, the screen is on, sitting there displaying "Fully Charged."

I had this happen again today, but noticed it went away when I took the call indoors. This seems to be an issue when I make a call outdoors, maybe it is the bright sunlight, but the screen refuses to come back on when i am on a call outside. I had to use the keypad to make selections on a call today but was unable to since the screen stayed off. Have others noticed this happening in bright light calls outside? This has happened a few times when I dialed the wrong number and wanted to just end the call before it connected, but when I flipped the phone back over from my ear it stayed off and the call kept going. Also, sometimes it will flash on for an instant then go back off again, still cannot end the calls.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAre any of you having trouble with this? The sensor doesn't seem to be working the way it should. I have a problem accessing the keyboard during calls to automated services and sometimes the screen won't stay lit long enough for me to end my calls.
Aside from that, my Droid keeps freezing up today. I haven't had any trouble with that before. I've got a week to go before I pass my 30 day trial. I'm not sure what to do. This phone has to be mailed in as I got it online. If there's a way to fix these problems, I'd rather not send it in and wait 3 weeks to receive a new one.
My auto timeout is set to 15 seconds yet the past day it just stays on until I manually turn it off....anyone had this problem?

It's rather annoying as I would rather not use a lock screen but don't want the screen turning on for every new text either. Screen stays off fine if the lock screen is enabled. This is my first Android phone so not sure if this is how Android behaves or if it's a Droid X issue.

When I recieve a sms/mms on my vibrant the screen comes on and wont go off until I check my phone, this kills my battery if I get a message while im sleeping and...well..its frustrating and annoying, any ideas how to fix this? I have been up and down every setting

Seems that maybe 1 out of every 3 or so phone calls I get, especially if the phone's been relaxing in my pocket for >1hr with no use, when I receive a call, the phone freezes.
The receive call screen appears, but I can't swipe down to receive. Can't swipe up to ignore, and hitting the power button on top simply ignores the call.
Anybody else ever see this? It's been fairly constant since I got my phone a couple months ago.
Quick edit question - is there a screen I can find on the phone that shows all my recent downloads? I have ASTRO and can find stuff on the SD card alright, but tracking down files I've downloaded from my email/dropbox, etc is always tough for me.

My Eris has been acting very buggy. I am running the OTA OS 2.1. (I have not rooted my phone.) Please excuse me if I sound fairly ignorant about my phone in this post. I'm not very technical.
My phone has very little internal memory left. I read that I needed to delete all apps I wasn't using, clear cache, export contacts to sd card, import contacts from phone back on and then delete any unused contacts. I've done all of that and my avail internal memory is still only 50 MB.
My screen freezes on occassion when making or receiving calls. I seem to miss occassional calls. And there is considerable lag.
These probably all sound like silly problems but like I said, I'm not very technical. I've read others have some of the same issues.. And like I said, I tried some of the solutions mentioned.
So my boyfriend has the Moto Droid. Every night he puts it on charger dock and in the morning picks phone up and its 100%, five minutes later it will die completely. He bought a new battery, plus a battery charger, a new car charger and home charger but it still does it. Basically has to be charged all day long to be used. Has this happened to anyone else?
Also, tried replacing. Upon receiving replacement it was rendered defective due too loose screen. New one coming friday.
First, can we change the phone to vibrate once instead of twice when receiving an SMS?
Also, is it possible to have the phone turn on its screen briefly when an SMS is received?

I start a Service from an Activity, the user presses back, the Activity goes away and the Service stays running in the background. However the activity (and it's views) still stay in memory. I tested this with cupcake and G1. To reproduce I've made a simple program.

The app widget documentation indicates that the "widget provider"being a receiver of a broadcast service may not exist (the process) beyond the completion of the call.If I want to maintain state between two broadcast events, such as say widgetProvider.onUpdate(), can I start a local service and leave it hanging there until my widgets are disabled? If I didn't explicitly stop that service will it be loaded again and resumed when the device wakes up.
