My screen will not timeout unless I press the lock button. This started about 2 weeks ago. It will occassionally work fine. I changed the timeout settings to 30 seconds from 1 minute...still same problem. I have removed the battery also. I saw a few people with droid had the identical problem with no replies with a fix.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter locking my phone and shutting down the screen, anytime I receive an SMS, the screen lights up and stays on.
The only way I've found to avoid this is to turn off the "notification in status bar" option within the Messaging Settings area.
This is super annoying when I receive a text late at night, wake up, and see that my phone has been on for the last 6 hours and battery drained.
The thing is that time to time my device does not respond to screen touch. For instance: then there is an incoming call it stays blank and I can not see who is calling and at the same time not able to answer it.
Touching the screen does nothing, only after pushing hard buttons, I am able to terminate the call. Also, when I am trying to access the OS from sleep mode by pressing the power button--there is no home screen--it stays blank. The only thing it does---the lights go on the home, menu, back and search buttons.
I did contact ot HTC help service and they told me to try to use the device in safe mode for two days. (this should terminate all 3rd party applications, that might cause the issue). Its my first day that I am use is in the safe mode and so far I do not experience any problems.
I do suspect that the reason of my problem could be the task killer that I am using in order to eliminator some programs running in background. But I did try out several task killers so far, however the issue remains the same
Is it normal for the Sprint HTC Hero for the screen to stay on when the phone is charging?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo when you normally make a call and the screen turns black when you put the phone next to your face. When you pull it away from your face the screen is supposed to come back on. My Ally's screen refuses to light back up. If I slide the keyboard out before the call ends the screen will come back on. If the call ends before I do that I have a black/dead screen for a random amount of time. This happened on stock rom and Velocity.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI hadn't charged my Droid in two days (yep, still working with GPS and WiFi on), so I thought I'd see how the phone alerted me that the battery was almost dead. When the LED began to flash red, the screen lighted up showing the lock screen with a notification that the battery has less than 10% charge remaining.
However, the screen would not turn off. It stayed illuminated, even after I (briefly) pushed the power button.
If I had wanted to preserve battery power, my only choice was to completely power off the phone.
This is the only situation I've encountered when the screen doesn't shut off after a period of inactivity. Also the only instance when it doesn't shut off when the power button is pressed. And it's probably the only situation where one would want these actions to occur to prevent faster battery drainage.
What have others noticed when their battery is dying?
Since getting the CL14 update last weekend, I've noticed an odd quirk. When I plug my phone in to charge, once it reaches full charge, I'm used to seeing the screen come on for a few seconds showing "Fully Charged." But since the update, the screen never turns back off. I can plug it in overnight, and in the morning, the screen is on, sitting there displaying "Fully Charged."
View 17 Replies View RelatedI wrote about this earlier, I had an issue when making a call the screen stays off and I cannot access the keypad or anything while on a call when I remove the phone from my ear. I had this happen again today, but noticed it went away when I took the call indoors. This seems to be an issue when I make a call outdoors, maybe it is the bright sunlight, but the screen refuses to come back on when i am on a call outside. I had to use the keypad to make selections on a call today but was unable to since the screen stayed off. Have others noticed this happening in bright light calls outside? Also, what can be done to correct this?

This has happened a few times when I dialed the wrong number and wanted to just end the call before it connected, but when I flipped the phone back over from my ear it stayed off and the call kept going. Also, sometimes it will flash on for an instant then go back off again, still cannot end the calls.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAre any of you having trouble with this? The sensor doesn't seem to be working the way it should. I have a problem accessing the keyboard during calls to automated services and sometimes the screen won't stay lit long enough for me to end my calls.
Aside from that, my Droid keeps freezing up today. I haven't had any trouble with that before. I've got a week to go before I pass my 30 day trial. I'm not sure what to do. This phone has to be mailed in as I got it online. If there's a way to fix these problems, I'd rather not send it in and wait 3 weeks to receive a new one.
My auto timeout is set to 15 seconds yet the past day it just stays on until I manually turn it off....anyone had this problem?
I have tried switching the auto timeout amount multiple times...still just sits here until I manually turn it off.
I recently got the HTC Incredible and for some reason I've come to notice that the Backlight on the softkeys always stays on and is always very bright. I was wondering whether this way the way the phone was suppose to work or its something that not functioning on my end. I was also wondering if it does stay on all the time is there an app or option on the phone that can change it so that it times out after a while or dims.

It's rather annoying as I would rather not use a lock screen but don't want the screen turning on for every new text either. Screen stays off fine if the lock screen is enabled. This is my first Android phone so not sure if this is how Android behaves or if it's a Droid X issue.

Been trying to get OpenVPN to work properly and have not had much luck.
Here are my specs.
HTC Incredible
Virtuous v3.1.0
2.6.32-Hydra-ssuv-v05
OpenVPN binary has been installed. I have also install busybox and then softlinked ifconfig and route to the commands the same way CM6 has it.
I was able to get OpenVPN to work properly within CM6 without much hassle. I have found battery life and experience better for me with Virtuous ROM so I went back to it.
When I launch the connection to establish the VPN session it connects but I am not able to work within the network. I was not able to communicate even with the VPN server.
I ran a netcfg and discovered that tap0 was down. I brought it up but its routing table was empty. I filled it in and was able to communicate with the VPN server and my advertised networks. If I drop my VPN connection, tap0 goes down and the routing table is cleared.
The VPN server works. It works with my other boxes and worked with this phone under CM6.
When I recieve a sms/mms on my vibrant the screen comes on and wont go off until I check my phone, this kills my battery if I get a message while im sleeping and...well..its frustrating and annoying, any ideas how to fix this? I have been up and down every setting

It did when I first got the phone, but now if I turn on wifi and try to connect to it the phone doesn't even try and it just stays at a "disconnected" state. Any ideas why this is? I will be trying it on a different wifi connection later, but nothing has changed for my wifi connection so I am not sure why it just randomly stopped working.
