View 2 RepliesI'm switching from iPhone to Android later this week. My wife will be keeping her iPhone 4s. I travel quite a bit for work, and I use Facetime calls all the time to talk to/see my 2 year old.
Is there an app that works similarly to Facetime across both operating systems? Like, I'll want to make a video call from my 4G Android to my wife's 3G iPhone, sometimes while not connected to Wi-Fi.
Is this possible?
Because my Motorola Droid X and many other phones lacked a front-facing camera, it was impossible for me to find a good application for Video Calling until recently that I found this AIR application. I am happy to know now that I can at least make clear video calls with my device. Oh and did I also mention it was free?

It won't be having any kind of SIM (PAYG or contract) in it initially, but must function as Skype-type video phone via wifi - unless someone tells me that's not possible! I can put my own O2 SIM in it if necessary to set up whatever needs doing to make it function.
Is it possible to set up a phone in this way? (ie. to be able to make & receive Skype-type video calls without having a SIM card in it).
If it is - how exactly do I do it? Should I use Skype as a carrier or are there other providers who would do the job better/easier? Which Android phones will best do the job?
I thought I read something about Skype no longer being compatible with Fring, so no more video calls w HTC EVO. Then, I read about people making video calls with Fring. I don't get it. This is confusing. Can we make video calls ?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI know quite a few of you have been testing Fring with other members yesterday using the new video chat feature.Well, considering me and my old man both bought EVO's yesterday we did video chat with each other on Fring and while we could hear each other, there was A LOT of audio feedback and we aren't sure from where. He was in the garage, I was in a room on the opposite side of the house both very quiet areas.Just wondering if anyone else has a lot of audio feedback using Fring video chat?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI am looking for what can be done for video calling from my Evo to my home desktop as I travel a lot and when Fring was working with skype it allowed me to see my son and him to see me. Any suggestions as Fring video calls with MSN and Yahoo messenger don't seem to work.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy brother just got the ICrap4. and he was wondering if he could make facetime calls with others phones than Apples. So we downloaded both Fring app and tryed to make a call. once i tried the app told me i could'nt do videocall because of sofware limitation how come? I could do video calls with my old non-smart LG Shine. but cannot do it with the X10?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the samsung galaxy s blaze 4G phone. My friend has an iphone and she has the facetime feature on her iphone which allows her to make video calls. My phone is an android as you know. If she calls me through the facetime feature on her iphone is there a way for me to connect to her video call so that we can both see each other on video? Do I need to download an app(maybe an app made by apple that is made to run on android phones) to enable my phone to have the capability of accepting facetime calls made from her iphone? Or should we just forget about the facetime nonsense and just use something like skype or another similar app that will run on both the iphone and android devices? But she does not want to go to the trouble of singing up to something in order to use an app.

View 15 Replies View RelatedFrom all the pre release stuff I saw it looked like the Droid X was going to include a front facing camera. At the announcement today the pictures of the X looked like there was no camera and I haven't seen it mentioned. Is there not going to be a front camera on this phone. Doesn't matter to me, but I'm trying to talk my wife into getting one of these and she really wants a front camera for video calls.
View 6 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is technically the "silent bug" but calls do not even show up on the phone, they just appear as "missed call from...." no noise no other notification. I restarted phone but it did it again right away. Phone does show the 50% bug in battery info.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to make VoIP calls or Skype Out calls on the EVO? I am switching from the iPhone 3GS and am going out of the country on vacation in a month and I got used to making Skype Out calls over WiFi when out of the country.

I have managed to establish a connection between the android and the computer, and to record a video on the android phone. My problem is, how will I be able to send this video to the computer? Does anyone have an idea?

Which video player for Android supports "MKV" video file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to use VideoView to play a Video from the SD card, but the only thing working properly is its audio, while I see the first frame of the video which doesn't play on and after a few seconds the Error message "Cannot play video - Sorry, this video cannot be played" appears. I don't know what I have done wrong.if anyone could help me out here, that would be great. this is the logcat output I get...I just saw that it says Video track fell behind, could that be the problem and if so what can I do to stop it from falling behind?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am doing a video based course, and what is infuriating about playing video on my Android is that you have to watch each segment (up to 40 minutes) in one go, as the next time you play the clip it will restart and fast forward does not work (it forwards for less than a second and then jerks back). What would be really handy would be if I could put a bookmark every time I have to stop the video file (such as when I have to get off my train), and return to the same place the next time I open it. Is there any app that can do this? I will pay for one that works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is an online stream that is 512Kb MPEG4 and total size of 312mb online and if I'm correct after looking over docs in order to play the movie I just simply put:
CODE:..................
It is triggered to play after a button press which after a few seconds after pressing the button it plays the audio BUT doesn't show the video, why not? Do I have to use a surface view or something for visual playback of the stream.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using the Alcatel OT-918d (stock rom, root access enabled) and while playing videos in the browser, I do not get an action prompt to choose from the available video players and browser plays the video using "default video player".
The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).
(If I play a stored video from phone or SD card, I do get the prompt to choose a video player. But do not get a prompt if playing any video in the browser.)

I've only had my EVO for 4 days now but I can't open any videos sent to me via messaging. My husband has an Instict and sent me a 20 second video of our daughter and when I tried to open it, I got a photo that said "Video too large to view on this device". The video is not that large so I'm not sure what's up.Is there anyone else that is having this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? We send videos of our kids all the time and I hate to think that I can't do that with a "state of the art" phone.
