Android :: Dial Application Always Dialing To Pbx
Oct 6, 2010
I'm looking for a dial app with two basic features
- After entering a number always dial to a fixed number being the number of an Asterisk (communication toolkit/open source PBX) PBX
- After the PBX picks up the phone send the number entered as dtmf tones to the PBX, so the PBX can set up a call to this number and
bridge the two legs. (from android phone to pbx/from pbx to entered number) so the desired connection is set up.With this app available it would be quite easy to integrate mobile phones into the internal communication infra structure and keep the presence info up to date even when someone is not available because he is making a phonecall with his/her mobile android phone.

My application has an emergency button which dials 911 when clicked on. Every thing on the app is working fine. But I just discovered that whenever I try to add another call when I am in a call, it promps me to complete the action using. 1. my app 2. The normal phone And when I click on my app, it just opens my app. I do not understand what is causing this and do not want my app to be shown in that list.

The Voice Dialing program in the phone is a total joke.. You have to have the phone in your hand, activate the voice dialing, speak your request, then manually confirm your request on the phone its self.. I thought the whole purpose of the voice dialing feature was for hands free capabilities.. The way this program currently works renders it utterly useless. I have a Cardo Q2 setup for my motorcycle helmet.. which has a bluetooth phone link setup in it.. Its basically a bluetooth headset thats integrated into the helmet. Everything works fine with the G1 phone except the voice dialing. Does anyone know of a Voice Dialing app that basically revamps the factory program so that you can use voice dialing w/ your headset? I searched and searched but couldn't find any real answer to this question.

After watching many news clips about the new iPhone I figured out my inability to disconnect a call was caused by the way I was holding the phone and that is what the proximity sensor is all about. Rather poed that neither Verizon or Motorola knew what I was talking about. According to TV News this is a problem with almost every new smart phone. I now have an interconnected problem. I am having trouble voice dialing a call. Apparently many others are as well. What is the significance of the different NAME fields in "Contacts"? Which one will the Voice Dialer look in? Any help about other Voice Dialers for the Motorola Android 2? Any suggestions as to how to better use the built in voice dialer(s)?

This is what I want the end result to be. I have the screen to left of my home screen clear. What I NEED for this screen is to have 8 one touch phone contacts that I can clearly tell the difference between. The 8 would consist of 4 people, my 4 supervisors with both of their phone numbers (office & cell). I tried 2 folders, one for office and one for cell. I don't like it that way. Using these, in some cases will need to be quick, and the folder doesn't stay open when you move away from the screen. If I put them directly on the screen neither the icon nor the title show the difference between the office and the cell. Then I created groups for cell and office in Google contact.s I added the HTC People widget (the tall one) for both. The widgets, of course, stay open, but when I touch the button it only takes me to the contact card. An app, thoughts, suggestions?

Is anyone aware of any voice dialing apps that speak back, ala blackberry, instead of giving you a visual list that you must then interact with, negating the benefits of voice dialing, like when driving and not able to look at the phone?

I downloaded iSkoot, the Skype application for Android. Made an overseas Android to computer call, which was a bit choppy over wi-fi, and then tried calling an overseas landline. To my surprise, iSkoot dialed a 1877 number which, using Skype credit, routed my call over the net to the end number. I wonder why is iSkoot dialing when I call a landline? In effect this is no different than, say, a Net2Phone card. Did T-Mobile restrict it? And then I thought it was a bit hypocritical of T-Mobile to get worked up about VoIP apps when it markets the HotSpot@Home service, which does the same to you landline carrier.

Read their blog post about it here.

Is this going to be a problem for people who have plans that allow "free" calling to a set list of numbers?

Does any one have any idea as to which countries Android supports interms of Emergency Number dialing. Is there a list of supported countries and emergency numbers? For example US has 911, Australia has 000 and there is also the international numbers 112.
How can we find out which numbers/countries are supported for emergency dialing?

I just got my motorola droid.
I don't want my contacts and my calendar to be synched with google online. i would like to them to live solely on my phone (and one of my computers if necessary).
Secondly, it would be great if there were an all-inclusive app that drew on your contacts to post, say, a contact's birthday directly to your calendar, and also allowed you to use that contact's information to dial them up on the phone, msg them, email them, etc.
Does anyone know of such an application(s) for the android operating system that does not require you to post your personal contact and calendar information out on the internet?
I have access to both windows xp and mac os x v 4.11, if a computer is required to sync with.

I already use easytether for internet access on the go, what i need is an app that will allow me to tether my phone and dial a specific number of my choosing. I run a termninal program on my pc that connects to a remote terminal via land line that uses typical rs-232 communications, but easytether or pdanet do not allow dialing of specific numbers. I use a LG VX8360 with the drivers (LG CDMA USB mondem driver) and this gives me the option in my terminal program on my PC to select the LG phone and as modem and the terminal then dials which ever phone number i choose.
Picasa Web Albums - Tommy - dial up app#
Any one able to make and app like this? I believ essentially the phone needs to be displayed in the phone modem options under control panel to ensure that it will be available to the terminal application. The terminal app is Procomm Plus.

I use HTC desire, using Froyo 2.2 by pinky (based on official rom). One thing that bothers me so much, is after I dial a number from phone, some screen savers of android like cartoons showed up. The pictures were like android character playing guitar, android eating ice cream, sometime as stupid as android eating hot dog.Is this normal for android os? or did I just misinstalled some apps that does this? from what i remember I never installed screen saver apps. Those screensavers bothers me so much! As I was becoming unable to see the 'End call' button!

I am writing an application that calls IVR Systems. For example a Customer Service line where 3 or 4 options or the telephone number must be sent after the call is made. I don't remember where but I remember that if you were to put in comma's , it would be a pause so I am trying to dial a number such as "tel:555555,0,2,3" which should dial 55555 then it should send 0 with a pause then 2, pause, and then 3. I have seen a discussion similar to what I want to do... http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa... I am testing with a HTC Hero, and when it starts dialing, I can hear the first tone being sent when its dialling, in the above case I hear a 5, and then the dialler crashes and drops back to my application. Code...

I just realized the lack of this feature (or incompatibility) when I tried to call someone and kept getting "your call cannot be completed" message from Verizon.
If Google is trying to target business users they need to get their act straight. The problem is not putting semi column or comma or upside down questionmark to dial extensions, but the issue is the compatibility.
Outlook and most contact management/e-mail systems use X as a divider between main number and extension.
It also makes sense "x" "eXtension". Anyway, I was able to sync all my contact beautifully, only to find out that I cannot call my clients, friends or the companies where I have to dial extensions. I don't remember all their extensions, and I cannot change hundreds of them one by one.
Any way to replace the default "x" for extension in Outlook 2010. Otherwise Android is useless for those calls.

Using Appwidgets, If we use TextView in layout provider xml then, we are able to set the text in Provider.java using remoteViews.setTextViewText() method.
Similarly, if I use AnalogClock as AppWidget in xml then, is there any method available to change the android:dial value using RemoteViews or AnalogClock api's in Provider.java ?
For Ex- I need to load two dial png's based on AM or PM.

When I dial a divert number directly from the handset it works. For example: **004*+668190099# sets up my call forwarding to the number +668190099
However, when I try to do the same thing from within an application I get a problem. The number displayed in the dialer is missing the ending #.
CODE:....................
Is this a bug or is there some other reason it wont let me dial a ussd code?

I updated my EVO 4G last night to Android 2.2. I started using the bluetooth voice dial feature this morning and I must say the new feature is still incomplete. There is no verification prompt after telling the phone who you want to call. You could say "Call Robin Cell" and it will dial Rob Cell without prompting you for verification. This means you have to scramble to grab the damn phone and hang up before it makes a connection with the wrong person. The lack of a hands free verification feature totally negates Android 2.2 bluetooth voice dial.
Microsoft Voice Command still has my respect in this regard no doubt. All it needs to do is repeat the name it is about to dial by saying (Prompt: "Call Robin at Cell" Answer: "Yes" or "No"). Why would they not do their homework on something like this and at least listen to how Microsoft Voice Command works? If they think there bluetooth voice dialing is flawless thats fine, but they still need to include the option for verification.
