I have recently bought the HTC Magic from 3 (three) in Denmark. When I access Market to purchase new software I can only see freeware. I am looking for the software "Bluex" but Market wont show it to me. Can anyone tell me if this is an operator implimented limitation and how I can change this so I can buy software on the Market.

I have recently finished a guide to what I believe to be the best Android freeware applications, about a hundred of them in various categories. It would be great to know what you guys think of it? I hope some of you will find it useful, and that it could serve as an introduction for those new to Android.

It is pretty easy to install. If you've installed HTC Sync it may cause an Android Debug Bridge error. If thats the case then just open task manager and close the process that starts with FCY or something like that. Once you get past that it will ask you to plug in your phone and install the software.

I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.
I'm using a SGS - DocRom V9.6 with Speedmod Kernel k13a

I know my question answers but since there's a lot of you who really spend your time scrutinizing your rank, downloads and all, I'm trying it maybe someone came up with empiric science on this one :
Does anyone understood even bits of how the market ranks apps in the market ?
I usually don't look at stats but following another post on this topic, I counted my rank in my category ... 565 ... Ouch that hurts! Especially when half the apps in front of mine, are crap apps with less downloads and ratings as low as 1 star :).
Not that it would make a difference being rank 250 instead of 565...But this is humiliating a little :s
Since my app has been on the market for one month, i'm wondering if age matters ...
I know I should have asked in the market "black hole of hell " google group but the name says it all. And I'm sure some of you already figured out some of the black magic used by the Market to rank apps.

I can't find certain apps in Market. I just tried to download Kindle-via Market and barcode, and it's 'not located'.
Tried to download EEBA as well, both ways, and no dice. I had to have the dev send me the APK to load EEBA.
WTH is up with this? Is it a version flub? Or just a wonky phone?

Just wondering if it is possible to get icons for applications on the Android Market? For example, if there is an application called "com.mycompany.someapp", is there a way to programmatically grab an image (icon) for that application either through an Android API or by simply downloading it from someplace on the net? I know it is possible to get the icon for an installed app using the PackageManager API; however, I don't believe that works for apps that are not installed. Failing that, since PackageManager can get a list of icons for installed applications, it should be possible to compile a fairly comprehensive list by creating an app that queries the PackageManger and uploads all the installed app icons to a webserver. That's not as nice as a true API, but it seems like it would work reasonably well. Can anyone think of anything particularly wrong with that approach?

What are the best apps you have come across that just arent on the android market. I Music is great and clearly a well known, safe app. So i'm looking for things along the same lines. Safe, trusted apps that just arent in plain sight on the market. Of course it doesnt have to be music or media related.

I have a new Droid Eris and have been having a really hard time finding apps that I read about in different places. I often find myself reviewing a very popular, top-rated app, then not being able to find it no matter how I search in the Market. These aren't usually obscure, ancient, one-off apps. I usually am hearing about them in 'top Android apps' articles, etc.
I usually search by the exact name, then alternate spellings. And I recently got the Barcode Scanner and am scanning the QR codes over at AndroLib.com to see if it's any easier. But I haven't gotten ANY of those to come up.
- What gives with the Android Market? Could I have something setup improperly?
I live in Los Angeles, so I doubt it's a location issue.
Some sample apps I couldn't find just tonight:
- Camera ZOOM FX
- Voice Trans
- Voice Text

Alright all of a sudden last night my installed apps have all disappeared under the downloads section of my android market. It only showed google maps. When I installed a new app it showed up right below google maps but still no sign of my missing apps. What's wrong? Is android market twitchy again? A reboot of the phone doesn't.

I got my Evo a few weeks ago and I love it. My only issue is the way the email interface set up. I'm wondering if there are email apps other than the standard Android email app? I looked in the Market but I don't know where to start.

I have recently acquired a Samsung Galaxy android phone. I wish to install applications that I download legally from the internet.I do not agree to the android-market licence agreement and have clicked on "decline". I only wish to install apps that I get elsewhere because I do not approve of the remote-kill clause in the market licence. All tutorials on how to install a downloaded app involve me first installing "app installer" from the market. That cannot be right. I cannot be forced to accept the market licence agreement in order to be able to install non market apps.Any suggestions on how I might get apps installed without ever clicking on "accept" on the market's licence agreement?I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. ANY suggestions welcome. I will not accept a remote kill switch. My files are my files.

Last night I tried to download some apps from the Android Market. It doesn't seem to want to let me have anything any more. It'll bring up the progress bar and says "Starting download..." below it, but never gets any further than that. I've tried clearing the cache already with no luck.

If I understand correctly, if I were to either hard reset my phone (Sprint HTC Hero) or exchange my phone for a new Hero (if my current one was lost, for example), I should be able to sign into the Market using the same ID I am using now and download my paid apps (and not have to pay again). However, what about the free apps? Are those tied to my ID somehow? I want to keep a list of what apps I have (paid and free). The only way I can think of doing that is to go to My Downloads in the Market and write down the name of each app.
