I published several free and paid app in the Market. I recently get several complains from customers about not finding my app in the 2.1 Market. Even if they have bought them before, they can't find it in the market or their download list after updating to 2.1.

We have uploaded a new version of our app where we added the following to the manifest: <supports-screens android:smallScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:anyDensity="true" /> However, we are receiving complaints that users cannot find the app on the market using their HTC Tattoo and HTC Dragon phones. Any ideas what we are doing wrong, and is there a way for the developers to test if the app is visible on the market?

I have CM10.1 20130210 on my phone. (Had 20130208 when I noticed the problem, But I dont think thats the cause). I normally check for CM updates & Play Store every night. Yesterday I wanted to check the Play Store but when I opened it it took me straight to the Categories page (It normally takes me to some "General Featured" page).
When I go into any of the categories it takes me to another categories menu (Example: Games>Racing/Puzzle/Action/Etc.) then if I enter any of those it just takes me to a grey screen, As if there were no apps.
I tried going into My Apps & Its blank. If I go into the All tab though they all show, Clicking on one of those apps does take me to its page & If I try to download a previously uninstalled app it does download and work properly.
Something very weird: The same thing happens in the Webstore, No app shows when going into Editor's Choice & When manually going into the categories its just blank. Going into app pages via my own apps do work.
I've tried clearing the data of the Play Store (Settings>Apps>All>Google Play Store>Clear Data)
I've tried reflashing my phone (Thats why I went from 20130208 to 20130210)
I've tried Force Stopping, Clearing data & Rebooting
I've tried unsyncing & Resyncing my Google Account
I've tried uninstalling & Reinstalling Gapps (goo.im/gapps)
I've tried unsyncing account, Force stopping & Wiping Google Play Services, Store & Services Framework. Then uninstalling them & Reinstalling. Resyncing Google account & Going back in. Still nothing. (At this point Im pissed)
I've tried changing the DPI from 320 (Default) to 220, 200, 300, Etc. Nothing...
I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.

Does anyone understood even bits of how the market ranks apps in the market ?
I usually don't look at stats but following another post on this topic, I counted my rank in my category ... 565 ... Ouch that hurts! Especially when half the apps in front of mine, are crap apps with less downloads and ratings as low as 1 star :).
Not that it would make a difference being rank 250 instead of 565...But this is humiliating a little :s

Tried to download EEBA as well, both ways, and no dice. I had to have the dev send me the APK to load EEBA.
WTH is up with this? Is it a version flub? Or just a wonky phone?

For example, if there is an application called "com.mycompany.someapp", is there a way to programmatically grab an image (icon) for that application either through an Android API or by simply downloading it from someplace on the net? I know it is possible to get the icon for an installed app using the PackageManager API; however, I don't believe that works for apps that are not installed. Failing that, since PackageManager can get a list of icons for installed applications, it should be possible to compile a fairly comprehensive list by creating an app that queries the PackageManger and uploads all the installed app icons to a webserver. That's not as nice as a true API, but it seems like it would work reasonably well. Can anyone think of anything particularly wrong with that approach?

I often find myself reviewing a very popular, top-rated app, then not being able to find it no matter how I search in the Market. These aren't usually obscure, ancient, one-off apps. I usually am hearing about them in 'top Android apps' articles, etc.
I usually search by the exact name, then alternate spellings. And I recently got the Barcode Scanner and am scanning the QR codes over at AndroLib.com to see if it's any easier. But I haven't gotten ANY of those to come up.
- What gives with the Android Market? Could I have something setup improperly?
I live in Los Angeles, so I doubt it's a location issue.

I wish to install applications that I download legally from the internet.I do not agree to the android-market licence agreement and have clicked on "decline". I only wish to install apps that I get elsewhere because I do not approve of the remote-kill clause in the market licence.All tutorials on how to install a downloaded app involve me first installing "app installer" from the market. That cannot be right. I cannot be forced to accept the market licence agreement in order to be able to install non market apps.Any suggestions on how I might get apps installed without ever clicking on "accept" on the market's licence agreement?I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. It'll bring up the progress bar and says "Starting download..." below it, but never gets any further than that. I've tried clearing the cache already with no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I understand correctly, if I were to either hard reset my phone (Sprint HTC Hero) or exchange my phone for a new Hero (if my current one was lost, for example), I should be able to sign into the Market using the same ID I am using now and download my paid apps (and not have to pay again). However, what about the free apps? Are those tied to my ID somehow? I want to keep a list of what apps I have (paid and free). The only way I can think of doing that is to go to My Downloads in the Market and write down the name of each app.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi just exchanged my evo and now on the new one i dont have the top paid app tab in the market. Everything worked perfect on the other one. What i was able to figure out so far is that when i create a new gmail account everything works fine. when i sign in with my old one i'm still not getting the top paid app tab. Definately something to do with my google account but i have no idea what it could be especially that it worked yesterday. Anyone have any ideas because i really dont want to change my email address
