Motorola Droid X :: Getting Dx Replacement Can Verizon Transfer Everything To Replacement?
Jul 31, 2010Looks like I have a dead pixel issue on my camera.. when I get a replacement, can that transfer all my settings and everything over, or do I need to downbload and install and setup everything all over again? I'm using launcher pro, and setting up all 7 home pages again takes a LOT of time.

For some reason, the format() overload with the FieldPosition argument is not included in the android platform. Any ideas of how to do this in another way? Is there any easy way to tokenize the pattern string? Any other ideas?

Android :: Restoring Applications On Replacement Phone?
Oct 15, 2010I bought an Audubon Birds Field Guide app for my Droid X and installed it, in addition to a ton of other free apps. Unfortunately the Droid died and I got a new one from VZ. When I took the new DX to the VZ store to set it up the guy said I should be able to restore all the apps I had installed, including the one I bought, but none of them showed up on the phone. He was not really all that helpful and told me to contact Audubon about replacing the app. I just did that, but I am concerned that none of the apps I had already installed showed up on the new DX.

Every time I try and back up, either online or to the SD Card I get this error:
'Error during backup: Error opening D B'
I purchased it because my contacts when reimported from the HTC Hero Orange firmware update, synched with google, went crazy! I now realise I should have turned off the google synch, but I kept a backup of my backup and have restored this to the SD Card. This gives me the error:
'Could not get backup set.'

Apr 18, 2010So I did a hard reset this am in hopes of eliminating the sluggishness of my Hero. However, I found out that I had to install each and every app that I had, instead of a "Click here to reinstall everything." I only saved the apps that I wanted/needed, so I feel as if I got cheated by buying this app.

Android :: MyBackup Pro / Remove Duplicates And FB Contacts
Jul 21, 2010I recently rooted my phone and have been playing around with ROMS and such and clearly needed to back all of my information up. I used the nandroid backup and titanium backup for my apps and then i realized i had no contacts.
So i found mybackup pro and it works great! i actually use this instead of titanium backup now. my only problem is that when it backed up my contacts, i only had like 400+ contacts and now i had 1500
i was able to filter out the extra 1000 by viewing only people with phone numbers, i guess it added all of my fb friends to my contact list. How can i get rid of all of these extra people?
its not just the fb contacts that were added, but there seems to many duplicates which are just linked together. when i go to edit a contact, it asks me which contact to edit, and it lists like 3 or 4 of the same contact name and they all say google underneath.

HTC EVO 4G :: Finding Replacement Application For Phone?
May 16, 2010Not sure if this is the right place to post this up, but I figure there's going to be a lot of you coming from other non-Android handsets. I've got a TP 2 - good l' WinMo. I've grown pretty attached to it and there's a couple of apps I'm -really- going to miss and I hope a couple of you know of some good alternatives:
GPS Speedo(.exe) - Just a single exe file, all it does is make the whole screen white, with large black numbers in the center. It used the phone's GPS to measure your speed (in MPH or KPH). Any Android equivalent?
OBD Gauge - Data logging of OBD II cars via serial or, in my case, blue tooth. I used this to data log my car, or when I'm working on tuning other vehicles. This one is kinda indispensable. I'm really hoping someone will know of an alternative to this one. It connects over blue tooth by connecting via BT serial port.
G Alarm - Excellent alarm app. I use my phone to wake me up every morning. This will re-play alarms after 10 minutes, unless totally dismissed, even require a simple math problem to dismiss/snooze the alarm. I don't have such high requirements I just want a good morning alarm clock style app that will wake me up every morning.

Also recently my phone will no longer connect up with my computer, it tells me in the notifications that the USB is connected even when it isn't(idk if this one is a common problem or not). One of the nice things on the BB was that when you set the alarm, you can switch the BB off overnight and be sure that at the set alarm time, the BB wakes and the alarm goes off. The alarm on the HTC Desire does not seem to do that - i.e. when I turned it off overnight it did not wake when the alarm should have gone off. I tried a couple of other alarm apps and no luck. Is there an alarm app for my requirement? Or is this not possible with an Android phone?

Apr 6, 2010I'm looking to see if I can get any good advice on a replacement phone for my work. The droid is my personal phone and I am up for a new device for my business phone. I have Verizon for my business phone as well and we are on a corporate plan. So the carrier has to be big V. I would try an android phone (other than the droid...I don't want two of them ) but I don't know how well android integrates with the Windows server for syncing contacts, calendar, outlook, etc. Any suggestions on phones currently out or coming out in the next month or two? Can have a physical keyboard or a decent touchscreen keyboard. I don't care as long as it works better than my HTC Touch did. Once I got my Droid. The resistive screen just didn't work for me anymore.
