Samsung Captivate :: How To Get A Replacement Phone?

I am getting the random shutoffs constantly now. Also recently my phone will no longer connect up with my computer, it tells me in the notifications that the USB is connected even when it isn't(idk if this one is a common problem or not). But my question is whether or not I can get a replacement. I bought my phone in late August and these problems have been on and off since beginning of October. I do not have insurence because I came from an iphone4 and didn't realize insurance was available on the Captivate(I called literally one day after the 30 window expired and the lady wouldn't give it to me, thanks ATT).

My battery life has been getting worse over the last few weeks.This morning in 5 hours since my last charge it is at 11%.This is with only 15 minutes of talk time and 40 minutes of display. My question is how bad is bad enough to get a replacement? Is there anyway I can get a new phone out of them and not just a new battery?

I saw a sweet boot sequence posted on. I believe XDA or Android Central, but for the motorola droid X. I got the file, tried to locate a boot animtion file to replace the new boot animation with, and it isn't there. They have a samsung boot and samsung boot repeat. I renamed both of them to bkp files and placed the new boot animation.zip in there(what they did with the motorola). I couldn't get it to work. Anyone know how to get rid of the Galaxy S and replace with other boot animations?

I think its totally died like 3 or 4 times now but it still seems to die very quickly. I have the adv app killer on there, i turn off bluetooth when not in use, brightness is as low as it will go, no hectic feedback, gps off and yet i still know that by the time i get home unless i charge it in the car, i won't be able to use my phone after work. so, i'd like your guys thoughts on whether it would be worth it to take back to the at&t store and swap it out for a new one?

I was kind of bothered by the dim piss colored lights on my old one. They are almost as white and bright as the touch buttons that were on my old droid incStill wish the time out on them could be longer.

Recently upgraded my girlfriend's phone to the Epic. She lost it last night. I didn't have any apps on it to locate it. The battery is now dead, it goes straight to voicemail when you call it. Does anyone know if Sprint can track the last known location of it or something like that? We upgraded through Best Buy. I did have the total equipment protection plan. Where is going to be the best place to go to for a replacement?

So, I called tmobile to get a replace phone because of the GPS issue. Will I need to unroot my phone since the techs will probably be checking the phone out so that it wasn't messed with. I have superusers permissions on the phone and i Just simply flashed the update.zip. I don't know how to work with adb, so if someone can give me some info on what to do I'd greatly appreciate it.

The Captivate (and Galaxy S in general) all come with Swype, right? But Swype isn't a market app right now, right? As in, the HTC Aria can't get it unless it is rooted/worked around (not too hard, but a hassle)
So is the Captivate the only phone on AT&T that can officially have swype? We all know that Apple won't let Swype in their market
Is swype coming to the official android market? is it already there? (I don't have an android, but I want one)

Looks like I have a dead pixel issue on my camera.. when I get a replacement, can that transfer all my settings and everything over, or do I need to downbload and install and setup everything all over again? I'm using launcher pro, and setting up all 7 home pages again takes a LOT of time.

So I got my phone a week ago or so and it just now started having problems with the GPS and randomly shutting off as well as the battery life being drained within a couple of hours from fully charged. Im guessing I should exchange my phone for a new one within my warranty period. Do I need to bring the original box and everything along with it to exchange it?

Is there a way or a app that allows u to set a time for your phone to turn completley off and back on at a certain time. I could do this on my Blackberry and would set it to turn off at night then back on in the morning.

So, got my Captivate yesterday.. first Android device (and loving it). Noticed something weird, when i went to bed last night it was at 50% battery, turned the phone off and plugged it in figuring it would charge overnight. however when I turned it on this morning the battery was at 10%. Not sure if this was just a fluke or not (i'm assuming fluke since I don't see any other posts on it). Can't see why it wouldn't of charged, let alone drain the battery.. any ideas? I can assure you it was off all night.So does this phone only charge when on? Something specific to Android or just a fluke maybe something i should think about a return trip to at&t for? Gona see what happens tonight when I do the same thing.

In the latest version of Google Maps for Android, is there a big search box at the top of the map that you cannot hide? I saw this on a Captivate at the ATT store and it didn't look like there was a way to hide it. This would definitely keep me from upgrading from my current version, 4.3.0. Can you guys take a look and let me know if it's something that can be hidden?

I don't mind paying as long as the game is good. For the specs of Captivate (1.0Ghz Processor, 512MB ram), Most of the games out there are just pitiful I don't know whether that's the result of lack game developers on Android or programmers today don't know how to optimize, I used to play way better games on a Pentium MX 166Mhz computer with 32MB ram (Quakes, Red Alert, C&C, Diablo just name a few so you know I am not bull shiting).

I'm an Android nob and I got my Captivate today. I am also kind of a computer nob so bear with me. I downloaded the correct drivers (I think). I am following instructions from this page Captivate Root I renamed the file update.zip and everything. When I rebooting my phone and select reinstall packages I get an error that says it could not be found or something similar. I can't remember. Can someone tell me whats causing this problem?

I was walking my dog and he almost slipped, all the while I happened to be taking my phone out of my pocket and boom, fell and now the screen is shattered. Its a Samsung Captivate, it seems to work just the screen is shattered. Its done. Literally. I already signed a 2 year contract with ATT, my mom isn't into smart phones and stuff, is it possible to use her upgrade and get a new phone? Then she can cancel the Data Plan? I share a family plan with her, only thing I can think of.

Well I really want a case because I know i drop my phone once in a while. I didn't like the clear case to be quite honest, and I was hoping there are some cases that I should be told about. (btw I would rather have a case than a leather pouch but all suggestions are fine ).
