View 1 RepliesMy phone runs with some lag and I have no doubt it's due to memory usage. I admit I have a lot of apps on my phone since I'm still trying to decide on best apps for my use so I have a couple similar apps that will eventually be widdled down to just one of each type but in the mean time I'm wondering how much available memory is ideal to ensure fast efficient use of resources.
I am afraid to root so until my courage is up I can't get rid of the unused stock apps which take up a boat load of space ie twitter and I hate that unused apps load even though not in use but I believe in the efficiency of android so I don't use task killers. I guess I'm wondering how many self installed on board apps I should strive to get rid of?
The Android documentation says that best practices are to make two drawable directories - one for HDPI and one for MDPI. It also says that if the MDPI directory doesn't exist and a MDPI device is running the app, it will scale down the HDPI ones so everything looks good. Is there any reason not to just make one high resolution set of graphics? One con that I can think of is performance issues and one pro I can think of is only having one set of images for your app.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a program that should work on Android 1.5, but when it's run on newer devices with higher resolution screens, it should support the full resolution and not emulate a lower resolution screen. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this should be simple.
I just specify
code:.........
The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?
How do I convert phone resolution Bootanimation to tablet resolution?
I have 4 boot animations that I want to convert to work on my Nexus 10 full screen.
Also, how to be able to edit [URL] to show 10 instead of 4 or completly remove the number so it works nicely on both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.
I am new to android. For getting more number of downloads. I will make application in Android 1.5 version. How can I support multiple screen resolution from android 1.5 version. Is there any problem develop application in Android 1.5 and release in market. Is it visible to higher version mobile market for downloading apk file.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAs Android supports multiple devices from different manufacturers there are different screen resolutions supported. It shows WVGA and FWVGA in MDPI for Large Screens and HDPI for Normal screens. So, if the image is kept in drawable-mdpi and its resolution is 320 * 480 then which image will be taken by Large Screens device of MDPI.Moreover, there are two screen resolutions for HDPI i.e. 480 * 800 and 480 * 854. So, with what screen resolution the image should be built.

View 3 Replies View RelatedComing from a BB curve, I am very excited to watch high quality movies on my subway commute everyday. I would like to start converting movies to MP4 tonight to have everything ready to go on Friday, but I need your help. I know there are many posts on this subject, but none specific to the DROID. What is the best free movie converter and at what resolution to do you recommend converting to? While we are on the subject, what is the best video player for the DROID?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll of our Droid's have lost the mail accounts at least once (when you go to email it shows the "new account wizard" - however, the old accounts still show in the "Sync" area. One of the devices seems to be doing it regularly. Wanted to see if anyone had advice with this issue, as I have heard other discussing the issue, but never seen resolution. Specific to the unit that has lost it several times. I factory reset the device last time to see if that would resolve it. It dropped it again not a week later. This unit is not rooted, and is at 2.0.1. The only other assumption I can make is possible problems with an APP?

Hear that Droid X may possibly not receive the Gingerbread update due to resolution.
I have 1 week left to return my Droid X and get a phone that will support Gingerbread when it comes out. What about the D2? Will any of the current phones available from Verizon work with Gingerbread?
I know it is speculation right now, but I want to make sure I can and will receive GB. My phone is rooted, but I do not want to wait for a port after it is released.
What are the best dimensions and resolution for the photo widget? It asks to crop the photo on the phone and it kills the quality and it looks more pixelated when you do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI send lots of text video messages. Before the 2.2 update, the MMS capable video had a decent resolution up to 30 seconds. Since the update, the resolution on the MMS setting (or the low setting) is horrible and almost too grainy to be visible. Is there any workaround? I tried taking just a very short high res. video but it won't let me text it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using folder organizer which I love, but the stock icons it comes with leave much to be desired.I have been through the market and can't find any decent high resolution icon packs. I would even be happy with just stock android icons. Is there a way to use just the icons from themes?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if anyone has figured out yet what the best resolution and/or aspect ratio is for custom contact photos? Most of my contact photos come from Facebook, but some I will edit on my PC and load onto the phone's SD card. I know there are issues with decent photos becoming low-res pixelated, so I'm wondering if I start with the best size and/or aspect ratio, maybe the phone won't have to resample the photos itself.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am a new android user, and got my Droid 2 the morning they came out at the Verizon store. Now the guy that was helping me at the store told me that the battery life would be bad because of the high resolution screen but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I have been having really bad battery issues and I don't even use it constantly. I have it on around 20% brightness during the day, and I really only send text messages, and some web browsing but not a huge amount. My battery will be drained after 6 hours or so, and will need a charge again. When checking on battery manager it does say that most of my energy is going to my screen, but like I said I don't even have it close to the full brightness. I have been using an app killer program to try to maintain that also, but I did read somewhere that it can actually hurt your battery more, from closing and opening apps. Just wanted to hear some feedback from other users since we a couple days after launch. Everything else has been great with this phone, and I am REALLY enjoying the android OS after switching from a Blackberry.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to alter the default screen resolution of the Android emulator (and by extension, the Android device) to work at 1700x1200. In other words, I need the screen to be able to display unique points over that range. I have set the dimensions in my layout file, yet the device still defaults to 320x480. I've set different dpi densities, but to no avail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an application which is basically a surfaceview, where height/ width is set to fill_parent. I run it on a htc desire, but when I check the size of the view (or the canvas I obtain), it says 340x533, so some kind of scaling seems to be done. Also, I load a bitmap, which seems to be scaled. Do I have to do anything special to run my app in full resolution?
