Jul 18, 2009I'm looking for a way to power off the device screen from my program. I see that PowerManager is only for system apps, and I can't find other ways.

Android :: What Color Uses More Power On Amoled Screen?

Oct 9, 2010I have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.

Oct 28, 2013When the android device is powered off (shut down completely) and plugged in you can hit the power button briefly. This shows a battery with a certain part shaded in to presumably indicate how charged it is and I suppose if its charging or not. There are some dots below the battery. What do they show? There are 5 dots that progress from left to right (empty are area to full area), does this indicated that the battery is charging? Does the rate of progression indicate how fast its charging? Do the dots do something else if the battery is discharging? Is there are lighting bolt inside the battery if its charging?
I have searched and searched and never seen an explanation of this powered off screen, which are slightly different depending on devices (some have charge indicator (i.e., "90% charged") and some just have the dots, some have lightning bolt inside battery some do not).

I've found the Settings/Applications/Development "Stay Awake" checkbox, but the screen still dims down after 30 seconds, though it doesn't go completely off.Is there a way to keep the screen on?All the WinMo phones I had had two separate profiles one for on battery and one for when on a charger, and you could set the screen brightness and timeout independently for each power profile.The reason for this is that I have a dashmount cradle of sorts that I use, and I generally put the phone in it and plug it in when I'm driving any sort of distance. I do things like look at the phone signal, see if new mail comes in, etc. while driving, and it's just reassuring to look down at the phone and see it doing something without having to hit the power button.

Feb 7, 2010I don't know what I have done, but the power button on the top, which I used to be able to press to turn off the screen, no longer works. I can use it to turn on the screen. And I can hold it on to power down, airplane mode, etc. But pressing it once does nothing when the screen is lit up. I have tried wiping all data from the boot menu. This restores the functionality, but when I restore all my data and apps (MyBackupPro) the problem returns.

Right now I have "screen off" profile set to 284/245. Is this why there is a bit of lag when unlocking? And is did i just answer my own question above? Meaning is this the reason why its not good to crank it way down during screen off?

Feb 2, 2013How to customize the charging screen of the phone when the power is off. For example, I have a Galaxy Note 2 running Jellybam and every time I turn the power off and plug it to a charger it friezes at the charging screen where there's a turning circle. Therefore, I just want to find away to get rid of the old charging screen and add a new one to try to fix the problem. Where the charging screen files locate in the root and where can I find the custom one to replace it. I've tries Nomoarpower from Chainfire but it seems doesn't work even the system files are installed as after the power is off it always brings me back to the frozen charging screen instead of the new one.

Jun 17, 2010This is a problem I've noticed lately that is just killing my battery life. My Incredible never dims on its own. If I press the power button the screen will shut off but lets say I get a text and then I hit the power button, the screen comes on. I respond to the text and then hit home and put my phone down on the desk. The screen will stay on indefinitely. Not charging, completely unplugged the screen will just stay on. Has anyone run accross this and does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to time out again?

Sep 6, 2010Anyone else having a problem of not having the screen turn on when you press the power button from sleep? It doesn't happen often but it does happen. This is my second Captivate as my last one would shut itself off randomly and that phone also had this problem.Yes, I make sure I pressed the power button and waited a couple seconds to make sure it just wasn't lag but I can guarantee you it is not. Like I said, it doesn't happen all the time but maybe once every 2 days. I'm guessing it's a slight problem with other users as it happened on my last phone but I'm not sure. Jan 5, 2010Has anyone had any luck with aftermarket power supply's. I'd like a car/ac charger or a stand alone power pack. I usually use my DEXIM. but it does not work with the Behold 2. I've tried a car charger/battery unit by Wireless Gear that said it was compatible with all Samsung phones, it came with 5 power tips and a USB outlet that still would not work, even using the OEM USB cable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will go with OEM Samsung if necessary, but there selection is limited.
