Found using these two apps from the market allows me to hardly ever have to use the power button (only for power off/on situations). Which is great because I know there has been reported issues of the button sinking in.

I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
My phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.

Has anyone worked out if it is possible to set one of the buttons on the bottom of the Desire to bring up the lock screen rather than using the power button at the top. Only just got the phone 3 days ago but this is (sor far) the only niggle I have.

I've hadf my kyocera rise through Virgin Mobile for a little over a year now and for the first time, I'm having an issue. My power/lock button has somehow become extremely sensitive to the point where it's a pain. I can slide my finger over the button to activate the lock/unlock sequence and after I press the button the power off option comes up. If I stick a needle under the button, it stops so I assume something is wedged in it. But No matter how often I clean it out with a needle, it continues to mess up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter being a dedicated bb user, I recently switched to a droid. I'm completely satisfied, however, I have had a small issue with my lock/power button. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but my power/lock button seems to be "stuck". I can still push it, but it's not as "click able" as when I first purchased it. I wish I could explain it better. I actually went to verizon a few days ago, and they weren't much help. The tech actually sprayed some of that air in a can stuff, which temporarily made it better. However, it now seems stuck again. Has anyone had this problem? Sorry for being such a new b!
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy power/lock button no longer works. Phone hasn't been dropped, only had it for 3 days and it's been babied. I hoped pulling the battery and rebooting might help, but it didn't. In fact, after that the only way to get it to reboot was to plug it into my computer via USB.

View 1 Replies View RelatedReceived my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was searching online to see how to make a shortcut to toggle the 3G connection on and off without having to sift through multiple menus. I came across the method of having a long press on the power lock button to pull up the menu but mine does not show the network data on/off option and never has. It only shows
* Silent mode
* Airplane mode
* Power off
* Restart
Nothing else. Is there a way I can make a shortcut or some other way to ADD the network data on/off on this pull up menu from the power lock button? By the way why would my phone not have this option from the start when the phone came with Gingerbread and was updated to ICS 4.0.4? I have Sprint so they call this the Epic 4G Touch, so not sure if it was Sprint that buggered this from the other SGS2s that have this feature or not.
Is there a way to turn on the screen by other than the pwr button? It's become difficult to get to the pwr button with my new case. Droid X allows you to hit the "home" button. Thxs

View 49 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I have done, but the power button on the top, which I used to be able to press to turn off the screen, no longer works. I can use it to turn on the screen. And I can hold it on to power down, airplane mode, etc. But pressing it once does nothing when the screen is lit up. I have tried wiping all data from the boot menu. This restores the functionality, but when I restore all my data and apps (MyBackupPro) the problem returns.

If I press the power button the screen will shut off but lets say I get a text and then I hit the power button, the screen comes on. I respond to the text and then hit home and put my phone down on the desk. The screen will stay on indefinitely. Not charging, completely unplugged the screen will just stay on. Has anyone run accross this and does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to time out again?

Anyone else having a problem of not having the screen turn on when you press the power button from sleep? It doesn't happen often but it does happen. This is my second Captivate as my last one would shut itself off randomly and that phone also had this problem.Yes, I make sure I pressed the power button and waited a couple seconds to make sure it just wasn't lag but I can guarantee you it is not. Like I said, it doesn't happen all the time but maybe once every 2 days. I'm guessing it's a slight problem with other users as it happened on my last phone but I'm not sure. Hopefully it's a software issue.
