Samsung Fascinate :: S Amoled Screen Good?
Nov 19, 2010Are you kidding me ? Not only can I see this screen outside in the sunlight, I can see it outside in the sunlight WITH MY SUNGLASSES ON. Coming from the Dinc I had a very hard time seeing that screen in the sunlight. How could I ever go back to any other kind of screen? This SF reminds me of when I first started dating my wife. Wasn't the greatest when I first met her, but the more I got to know her the more I couldn't get enough of her.

Apr 17, 2010I've noticed that all of the official literature regarding the Incredible describes the screen as WVGA OLED -not AMOLED. Can a screen be OLED without AM (active matrix) technology - and if so, what will the difference be between the Incredible's screen and the N1's AMOLED display?

I remember some nokia phone that also had an amoled screen and that had a neat feature; whenever the screen was turned off, there was an always-on clock that'd show up, and since the clock was small and the rest of the screen stayed black, it didn't drain the battery.
I mean, that'd be a pretty cool thing to have on amoled android phones, no?

Nov 19, 2010I searched many forums but there seems to be no clear way to identify the screen type other than by eye. Clue #1: The box has no mention of AMOLED. Clue #2: P/N is 99HKZ009-00 Clue #3: Made in China Clue #4: Unbranded, unlocked phone bought from a US retailer. My plan is to root. According to what I've read so far, the method depends on the type of screen, SLCD or AMOLED. I need to know for sure, so as not to brick the phone.

Oct 28, 2010I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy S on 8th October 2010 in Bangalore, India. two weeks later my screen developed a bright white line on the bottom. ( see pic attached ) I have not dropped or mishandled the phone in any way. I took it to the nearest samsung service centre... they told me that the display needs to be replaced ... They say that the phone display is out of stock and they dont know by when it will be available.
I feel really cheated ... after purchasing such an expensive phone one never expects it to malfunction in less than 2 weeks. And samsungs customer care reps very conveniently replied that they dont know when it will be in stock and to keep in touch via calls. So much for buying an amazing phone.

HTC Incredible :: Incredible's Amoled Screen Vs Evo Larger Lcd
Jun 8, 2010I have an Incredible and a friend just got the Evo. I also went to HTC's Evo launch party in NYC so I've had my fair share of time with it and I have to say, IMHO, I was shocked at the difference in AMOLED vs LCD.
I never really gave much thought to it and I always thought it wouldn't really make a difference but HOLY COW.
It was the first and glaring thing to me whenever comparing the phones. Everything from the home screen to widgets to photos, videos, web sites. It was quite dramatic. The LCD on the Evo always looked kind of washed out since I've become used to the AMOLED.
The viewing angles, crispness, deep blacks and color saturation on the AMOLED is a huge win for me.

Oct 9, 2010I have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.

Oct 28, 2013When the android device is powered off (shut down completely) and plugged in you can hit the power button briefly. This shows a battery with a certain part shaded in to presumably indicate how charged it is and I suppose if its charging or not. There are some dots below the battery. What do they show? There are 5 dots that progress from left to right (empty are area to full area), does this indicated that the battery is charging? Does the rate of progression indicate how fast its charging? Do the dots do something else if the battery is discharging? Is there are lighting bolt inside the battery if its charging?
I have searched and searched and never seen an explanation of this powered off screen, which are slightly different depending on devices (some have charge indicator (i.e., "90% charged") and some just have the dots, some have lightning bolt inside battery some do not).

Jun 29, 2010Okay so I just picked mine up on Monday and immediately thought the color looked a bit off... but I have nothing to compare it to. The main area I notice it is in the texting screen with the keyboard up. The keyboard seems like a really light gray color and unnatural. This is the third hardware version of the phone. I'm not sure if I'm just being anal but I'm just wondering if there were screen issues like this?

Aug 4, 2010got my new droid x today from verizon to replace my old one. have a few questions my old one the buttons where loose was that something to worry about? ive seen a few where they dont wiggle at all and some that do. and second question was the screen for the NEW one i received today has a darker brown/redish hue to it where the old one had a blue close to white hue. and the old one was alot brighter too. what you all think should i not worry about the buttons and keep my old one. or keep the new one where the buttons are tigher and has the brown/redish hue.

Aug 3, 2010I would like the screen to stay on (on whatever brightness it's normally set at) when connected to external power. I've found the Settings/Applications/Development "Stay Awake" checkbox, but the screen still dims down after 30 seconds, though it doesn't go completely off.Is there a way to keep the screen on?All the WinMo phones I had had two separate profiles one for on battery and one for when on a charger, and you could set the screen brightness and timeout independently for each power profile.The reason for this is that I have a dashmount cradle of sorts that I use, and I generally put the phone in it and plug it in when I'm driving any sort of distance. I do things like look at the phone signal, see if new mail comes in, etc. while driving, and it's just reassuring to look down at the phone and see it doing something without having to hit the power button.
