Android :: How To Implement Progress Bar As Windows Loader Bar?

I struck in implementing progress bar functionality of my splash screen. i know horizontal progress bar implementation that fills yellow from left to right but the requirement is progress bar should be loader bar that appears when windows is loading in the system. more detailedly, "The loader bar or progress bar is same as Microsoft Windows loader bar -> the yellow bar continually move from left to right. Appear on left, move in the right direction and disappear on the right side than appear on the left again immediately and process start again. This is not filling bar which fill the space from left to right."

I have created a activity and set a the title bar to contain a progress bar like this: this.requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_PROGRESS);getWindow().setFeatureInt(Window.FEATURE_PROGRESS, 500);But it turns out to be a horizontal bar, how can I make this a spin bar? (without creating a custom title bar)

Android has a nice way of defining stretchable images called a nine-patch. See these docs for a description of the concept. The idea is to surround a png image with a 1-pixel border where you can define the stretchable areas and the padding dimensions of the image. This is absolutely brilliant and I'd like to use the idea in my iPhone app. Before writing my own nine-patch to UIImage loader I thought I'd see if one already exists. Google doesn't return any results so I don't have much hope, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

Can anyone please provide some information regarding the reflection API DexclassLoader, which will be includeed in cupcake release?? In the latest development of the cupcake, whether this feature is added or still to be done? I f already included then any reference which will explain about how to download that cupcake source from the repo, compile that source and add in the current sdk. I am using windows plateform and running the applications on the emulator.

so this may be a dumb question, but how do i update the boot loader or recovery. I'm using clockwork, and m assuming there's probably been an update for it. ive read about amon ra or something? sorry if I'm incorrect. I am just not sure if my phone is wiping dalvik correctly.

I wanted to put a newer Android into Samsung Mini s5570 so what I did:
1) rooted the device so I could see SuperUser application on it
2) shutdown my phone
3) using Odin I wanted to put new loader to this device so I have pointed OPS file and recovery image for s5570
4) checked OnePackage option
5) turned on phone using 3 buttons (Power, LVolume, Main button) so it switched into Downloading mode
6) Odin detected phone
6) pressed START button
after that it gave some logs and then it freezed on:
<1> recovery.img download..
time keeps going but nothing happens.... once I have even waited for an hour with no success
what I can do to make this phone running again?

Well since ive installed 2.1 it was fine all last night and now... all hell has broken loose on my phone. i get the file space low notification, all widgits on home screens are all messed up and out of whack, smaller icons are randomly being deleted... has anyone else experienced this. i have now done 3 factory resets and reinstalled 2.1 twice since last night its still doing the same thing... cleared cache, and did factory reset through bootloader.

So as the title states my Droid has some major water damage, but after about 30 min of low heat in my oven and a few more hours of drying it now powers on. Problem it is stuck on the bootloader. So my question is do you guys think I screwed up whatever part of the phone that stores the ROM, does it need more dry time (this only happened about 4 hours ago), or should I just try reinstalling my ROMS off my SD card without waiting any longer? I'm planning on giving it another cycle of heat/dry time then reflashing everything but don't really want to go through all the hassle.

Was trying to go back to 2.1 from 2.2. RSD flash failed, had to unplug phone. Now the boot loader screen says CODE CORRUPT and Cannot Program. I can only get this message when plugged into the wall charger. If i plug into USB to PC i get just a green light where the power light is any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

i cant wait to get my Xperia upgraded to 2.1! i have one issue though. i only have access to a work PC with XP but no admin account (big corp, so no chance of getting it temporarily) or my housemates Mac. my girlfriend has a laptop but she wont be home until next weekend are there any non-windows/non-admin methods of upgrading?

I have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?

I am writing a media player and i would like to have a progress bar showing the progress of the song. I found the ProgressBar class, but all i can get on the screen is a circular spinning icon. what im looking for is an actual bar.
How do i change the style of the ProgressBar to be a bar (not a circle) and how would i use it with MediaPlayer?

My application involves doing some calculation on the first activity and sending the information to the second activity. So while the calculation is being done , I want to show a activity / progress / busy indicator on the first activity , before going to the second one. Is there any way of doing so, or an sample code that does the same. I was also looking out for the same by calling the calculation method after a delay so that the progress bar is shown first before the calculation is done , but this has also failed.

I am extending the normal android.widget.ProgressBar.This rotates it fine, however I am having alot of sizing issues. It seems as though I have to set the width and the height of the control to be the same thing or else I run into alot of clipping issues. Basically, I want to have a progress bar that, once rotated, is 50dip wide and fills the screen vertically. Can anyone think of a way to do this? Also, it doesn't seem to be actually drawing the progress properly, but I will revisit that once I get the clipping sorted out.

I have used the progress dialog in order to load the contents from the server to list...But i feel that the progress bar small with "loading..." message that is used in the android market browser ( in dev phone) is better ... here is the problem iam facing..
1) i have a list of 100 names that has to be loaded on to the dev phone.....
I do as follows.....extends Activity implements ListView.OnScrollListener ...
On every request i am getting 20 items and request is sent in seperate thread and for the UI i am using progress dialog saying "Wait..getting details...." and on getting the response progress_bar.dismiss and setting to the adapter as myList.setAdapter (new MyListAdapter(this)) where MyListAdapter extends BaseAdapter....
2) Now i have 20 items in myList ... and the next request for 20 items is sent when i reach the last list item by using the onScrollStateChanged() using view.getLastVisiblePosition();
Similarly as explained above i send request in seperate thread(not the UI thread) and show the progress bar and dismiss it on the response...
But problem is on myList.setAdapter(new MyListAdapter(this)) , the list goes to the first item and the user(here i...) has to scroll back again to the 20 items to see the list..
I did all the above procedure by referring the slowAdapter example in the API DEMOS... So, here is the problem .. 1) how to show the next 20 items without going to the first item on every second request ..
2) i found that android market browser uses same scenario .. but i dont know how to generate it..

When I'm getting some resource from the internet, like this:

When "InputStream in = httpConnection.getInputStream();" is called, all the content of the file is downloaded at once.
If I use: htttpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpRequestBase); The problem is the same.
How can I detect the actual progress of the download?

The following code used to render an indeterminate progress bar with a message below, all on top of a video view. Once the video was ready, the message and the progress bar would be made invisible. Ever since cupcake, the progress bar doesn't show at all.
