Android :: How Should Web App Use Facebook Connect Authentication?

My website uses Facebook Connect for authentication on the desktop and mobile sites. When a user clicks the Facebook button, the browser opens a popup window where the user can login to Facebook. When the user logs in, the window closes and messages the main window to go on.This works great on iPhone. A new window opens and is brought to the foreground. After logging in, brings the original window to the foreground. Everything is happy.On Android, the user experience sucks. Trying to be clever, Android opens a popup window on top of the current window. However, the login popup is completely zoomed out and the input boxes are tiny. Predictably, many users just close the popup and give up.How can I use the Connect JS library to force a real window to open, or at least force Android to make the login box presentable?

I want to build an XMPP client on android, I've got it running perfect with authentication using Digest-MD-5, however when I try to convert it to X-FACEBOOK-PLATFORM it keeps failing. Could someone tell me why? I've attached the source code. I know it's something really small but I can't seem to figure it out. The source can be downloaded from.

I have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook).To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever. I have a mobile application and will like to have the authentication implemented either through the Application itself or through Facebook username and password. For example, if I have username and password of Facebook then one can login into the Application. I don't want to integrate the facebook completely only the authentication part. Is this possible?

I am trying to use the Facebook SDK for android but It gives me runtime error (ClassCastException) when i include the com.facebook.android.LoginButton as the login button. I am looking for a solution for facebook connect for Android. Before I used an open source solution from codecarpet: http://code.google.com/p/fbconnect-android/ but now it doesn't work anymore. Now the Official facebook connect for Android is out, but there are about 11 big time issues and it fails almost all the time, so its not a real solution. http://github.com/facebook/facebook-android-sdk/ Any idea how to resolve this issue?

I tried to clear setting in Gmail and it shows your email will appear shortly. Also today it wont let me connect to Facebook and to the market. This is for the Droid Incredible.

Certain apps need to be connected to Facebook. They let you sign in to Facebook and then return to the app. Sometimes i then get error message 'can t connect' with certain apps, but when i look in Facebook, the apps seem to be connected. But still the app itself keeps displaying the error message.

I have had the phone a few days now and I cannot connect to facebook thru Timescape.The Facebook application on the phone though works fine, just have issues when trying to connect do it via Timescape. If i click on a FB notification and i want to open it, it prompts me to the login screen. I confirm login with the correct details and then it just hangs there on the login. You can see the toolbar up the top go to the correct address and the progress bar goes in green and fills up but it doesnt proceed to the next page, it just hangs on the login screen.
I have checked my APN settings and I have 2 of them set up by default on the phone. I am with Vodafone in Aus and I checked their APN settings on a android site and there is only one for Internet and MMS. Should I delete one of them?

Timescape used to work fine but now everytime I try to update facebook it with "Could not update from Facebook - could not connect to the internet." I've seen discussed on other forums about the notification displaying even thouh the update was successful - in ny case it actually does fail. My phone's internet settings are unlikely to be the problem as i have had no difficulty watching HD streaming video connecting through Optus Australia 3G.
I've tried signing out of the facebook ap and also signing out from facebook in the browser just in case facbook was denying the connection - this did not fix it. I've tried deleting the timescape facebook service account and adding it again - didn't fix. I have also gone into Manage Applicatons and hit 'Clear data' for timescape - also didn't fix.

I'm using Easy Tether right now to post this, yet it will not connect to Facebook, or Gmail and Google Voice, PicasaWeb, or other Google products, aside from Gqueues.If I connect this laptop through any wireless connection (my home network or multiple public wifi hotspots) it has no problems seeing those sites.Ideas?

I have downloaded ebuddy app but it will not connect to facebook i have also tried gochat too and still the same. they install fine but when i put login in then try to connect to facebook they wouldn't let. Friend has got galaxy s and are working fine.

I am beating my head against a wall trying to figure out why I cannot get Authenticated on my server whilst using HttpUrlConnection. I need to post a file in a post method and it seems I cannot do so with the DefaultHttpClient and a regular HttpPost (unless I am completely missing something?). I can get DefaultHttpClient to authenticate just fine using setCredentials() but the same doesn't exist for HttpUrlConnection so I try to set through setRequestProperty: conn.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + Base64EncodedUserNamePassword); to no avail.

I am new on SSL programming. The Android app I am developing needs to open an SSL socket to a secure server which requires the client authentication. I've looked into the keychain api but how to use it and seen no tutorials of its usage.

I am currently writing the backend for a service which has 3 clients: browser, android native and iphone native. I am having a little trouble with coming up with an authentication system since I don't know what can really be done on the clients.
I am using django + twisted for the backend.
Basically, I am going to be writing RestfulAPIs to open up for the clients on both phones to call.
Now the real question is, how should I come up with an authentication system?
I have thought about using sessionids, this works very well with the browser and I can use django's integrated app for that.
However, I don't know if it's possible for both the iphone and android to obtain a unique sessionid on the handset. Should I write an API call to distribute unique sessionids?
if that's the case, is it possible for me to still use django's authentication system since a lot of the stuff here are customized? ( I am not even using a rdbms - I am sticking with mongodb, so I was on the verge of dropping django's authentication app ftm).
I have looked at foursquare's API and their basic auth method requires you to pass in user:password in every http request header. That adds 1 additional authentication each call which can kind of seem excessive.

Are there any podcast players that allow authentication? I have the streamlink account for coast to coast am and they dont yet have an android app. I can download the MP# files of the shows every night but would much rather be able to just stream with podcast. I have a link to the RSS feed for said podcast but it requires a UN/PW. Can anyone suggest an app that will handle this? They also provide Real Player links and Windows media player links so if anyone knows how to make these work with the droid that would work as well.

iam using miui pepper on CM9.In my college there is a 4 MB/S wifi connectivity,unfortunately android and ios users cant access wifi but connections are available for laptop users!.while connecting in laptop wifi asks authentication, after entering username and pass lap is able to use wifi!!!.
