Mar 1, 2010I downloaded chomp sms for my Samsung behold two and I can't figure out how to get the default texting app. To stop popping up in the menu bar pull down screen.

HTC EVO 4G :: Default Texting App?
Nov 23, 2010I got my phone on launch day and now all the sudden the last week at least I've had weird issues with texting. I thought maybe it was Handcent but I just noticed it on the default texting app. For awhile on Handcent sometimes when I'd open a 'conversation' it would have one persons messages but another persons name on the top. Yesterday I sent a text to one person, it showed in the conversation that it went to the correct person, but someone else actually received it(and it didn't show on my end that the wrong person got it). I deleted Handcent, as obviously that's unacceptable..Who would want, say, their mom, to get a questionable text meant for one of your fly honeys right?! However, I was just looking at texts from last night sent from the default text app and it showed a text I'd sent to one person going to the wrong person(but I know the right one received it...basically the opposite of what happened previously). Has anyone else had issues like this?

May 14, 2010I have installed handcent on my DI, and I agree that it is better than the stock app. However, if I receive a new message, it opens in the stock app, and not Handcent. I have to manually start handcent to use it. How do I get handcent to be my default app for texting? I have searched through the settings and can't find anything that makes it the default app.

Mar 13, 2012when I send a text to a contact, I type the name in the search and choose the contact. For some contacts that works great. For some, when I select them it sends an email and not a text. I have verified for those contacts that the phone number is set as default - is there something else i can do other than create 1 contact for phone and another for email?

Sep 12, 2010Is there any way to tweak Swype so, for example, if I type a "7" and hit space, it will just leave a plain old "7" and not "720p"? It's kind of annoying to have to choose "7" from a drop down list when that's the only thing I typed.

Now theres some interesting groupchat apps out there. I was looking into using BrightKite... My classmates use it during boring lectures in gradschool. But the problem with BrightKite is that Empty (that is his nickname) does not have free texting to any carrier but verizon, and BrightKite's groupchat # is not verizon. I am in a similar situation, but since I have an android phone I can access the groupchat via that and I don't need to use up my texts.............

Jul 6, 2010I have handcent and when I click on my message icon, it asked me what I wanted to set as a default. I don't believe I clicked anything and went about my business. I read that if I set my handcent as my default, when I click my message icon, it will bring up handcent. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to get that box to pop up, but it won't. This would be something similar as the concept of a "default browser" or "default e-mail application" that is launched when a website should be opened or a mail needs to be sent. Dec 30, 2009When I pair my sprint htc hero to my car stereo, it always opens the default music player and starts playing a song. Can I prevent this from happening? I generally want to listen to pandora - and not my mp3's. Most annoying part is that the mp3's play simultaneously with pandora until I manually open that music app and pause the music.
There must be a way to either turn off the default action or to plug another program name into that defautl.

I check the box, it tells me that I can clear the setting in Application -> Manage Applications. I launch the Music Track with the box checked. I go to the application settings, but the "clear defaults" button is always enabled. It was already the case with 1.1 SDK, 1.5 does not help (tested on emulator 1.5 AND ADP1 with 1.5 recovery image). I also tested the allowClearUserData flag but it seems we cannot clear anything but the cache (for the webview ?)

Mar 27, 2009I need help finding the right email app.The default one is horrible. The problem I am having is that it doesn't differentiate new emails from old. Every time I open the inbox in any of my email accounts, it always shows all emails as new. I don't know which one's I read or not. It's not bad if it takes me directly to the email, but when I have emails for multiple inboxes, I don't know which ones have the new email. I called tmobile tech support and was told that unless I delete the read emails from the server, the phone will keep reloading them as new. On my old phone, the messages I read where marked as read and stayed that way. When I got a new email, it was clear which one it was because it was highlighted.
Also, I've just switched to the g1 from a business phone, so I'm really new to this still. The couple things that I would like to figure out how to do is, first, I would like to know how I can search my contacts both by name or business. I've transfered the contact info from outlook to the g1 and so I have both name and business information. However, when I search using the keyboard, I can only search by name. If I put in the name of the company, it doesn't show up. Also, is it possible to have both shown. On my old phone when searched for either the person name or business name, the result showed both. For example, if I searched for lauren or Unico, it would show up as Lauren with Unico below it. Also, this way if I have more than one lauren, I can distinguish between them without having to click through each one.
Secondly, is it possible to set up "speed dial" function. Basically, if I pull up the dialer and press 2 for like 2 seconds it will. Third, I used to have my phone setup that I would have what ever my next appointment was, it would show on the home screen. Is that possible with this phone. Is it possible to allocate certain space on the home screen to preview upcoming appointments.
