Android :: Swiftkey - Does Not Seem To Always Use Predictive Text
Oct 15, 2010I have used Swype, and the beta stopped working and no version works. I also HATE that you can not do voice to text. So then I get the froyo keyboard raved about on here. For some reason voice to text does not work and I get a server error no matter what. So then I get swiftkey trial. Excellent keyboard. It does not seem to always use predictive text. For example when I open my gmail app and respond to email it does not work. Voice to text works great though.I like predictive text and voice to text. Those are musts.

Aug 27, 2010just wondering if anyone else here ever has this issue and if theres something to fix it? im using swiftkey and sometimes it just decides to go nuts and types a letter 2 or 3 times even though i only hit it once and then the word suggest screws up and also when i hit the spacebar once it goes nuts and puts in a period and starts a new sentance.

Jul 10, 2010I'm sure there are many topics about swiftkey on the incredible, but as a longstanding user of swype, gotta say that this method of text input may be the most efficient. Swype is great, but the damned landscape view is downright unusable. Kinda went back to stock for a while until I found this baby.

Oct 11, 2010I've downloaded the Swiftkey Keyboard and like it a lot but am a bit frustrated by the autocomplete concept they use. I guess there should be two options: autocorrect spelling mistakes I make and another option for autocompleting words I am trying to type. Too often I find that Swiftkey's "predicted" word option based on what I type is so far off that I end up sending a nonsensical message to people.

HTC Hero :: New Keyboard - Swiftkey Alpha
Feb 22, 2010Is anyone else testing the Swiftkey alpha? It's a new keyboard that's in development. It's quite hard to use at first but now that I'm getting used to it I can say it looks VERY promising. The word prediction is brilliant, and a 1/3 of the time(according to them) it guesses the word correctly. If it doesn't it usually gets it within one or two letters of the next word.
In terms of the ui it's not amazing at the moment, but being only the second alpha release I'm not too bothered, and hopefully they will make the keys a little bigger and make it look nicer overall, a bit like in the image on their website.
They aim to have their keyboards used on android phones by default and I can see that happening the way they're going at the moment

Jul 14, 2010Was formerly using Swype and loved it, but this new keyboard is legit! It practically reads your mind and predicts the next word for you before you even start typing it. Not sure if I'm going to stick with it yet, but definitely going to give it a dry run for a bit.

Jan 25, 2014I recently switched from iPhone to nexus 5.On the iPhone long pressing gave the options to copy and paste single word or whole paragraphs. In SwiftKey on the nexus,long pressing brings up a blue pointer that gives me just the option to delete the word before it. I can't see any way to select a line of paragraph, then copy and paste it.

Apr 24, 2009This procedure can clear a large number of problems and should be tried before a Hard Reset.
1.) Turn phone off remove battery WAIT for at least two minutes.
2.) Power On Phone while Holding MENU key Until ALL actions finish from Powering on phone At the bottom left corner of the display in transparent text will be the words "Safe Mode"
3.) Power off phone again battery out wait two minutes
4.) do a normal power on
Android :: My Safe Mode Fiasco
Apr 5, 2010i just got the 2.1 update this morning and was cleaning up a few unused apps and i came across launcher. I couldn't believe I still had it on here (been using sweeterhome) and so i remembered i had to go into safe mode to remove it. Tried to get into safe mode no luck. thought, ok, i'm missing a step or something. looked up the directions to make sure i was doing each step correctly and still nothing! i've held the power button and the menu button (keyboard) down at the same time until i saw the eye, until after the haptic then major vibration. i tried holding the menu and power, then releasing the power while still holding menu until both things i just stated and still nothing! what is happening is after I hold the buttons until after the vibration one of two things happens,it will go back to the screen that spells out droid then the eye or it will load normally, no safe mode on the screen. i read somewhere doing a google search that someone else had this same experience and asked for help and no one replied.

Jan 16, 2010are there some smarties here that can confirm that PDAnet is safe / secure and doesn't have spyware / adware type capabilities? The reason I ask is because i'll be using it to tether to my laptop. When installing on the laptop...certificate warnings pop up.. the same when installing on droid. (USB debugging warning comes up saying it has to be turned off) which basically means data can be transferred wherever.
