Android :: Froyo Apps 2 SD List
Jun 21, 2010
Since I have insalled Froyo (frf50) I have slowly noticed apps starting to receive this feature I do not know of a complete list or even attempted one. As far as I am aware there is no way for the market to auto install to the sd, so unless the developer lets you know in the changelog (which doesn't always happen) its a manual process finding them through the manage applications list. If anyone knows a better way please enlighten me. *** As has been stated getting the App 2 SD or SDMove in the market can quickly identify which applications you can move from your phone to the SD card Here is an important link for those that want to understand how apps are moved (and especially force them to the SDCard in order to save system memory:This list is also for those who are shopping due to low memory.Applications starting with #

Is there a way to remove apps from My Android Apps list, on Android Market / Google Play? I have a few hundred in my list and a few dozen of those are apps I plan to never install again. I'd like to remove them from my list in the Market/Play. I've already uninstalled them from my phone.

The Android 2.2 Upgrade List: Phones Definitely Getting Froyo
Nexus One: Despite the shuttering of its online store, Google's flagship phone is still first in line for the Froyo upgrade. In late May, a "very limited test group" received an early copy of the 2.2 software. Google has since been working on final tweaks and expects a widespread rollout to begin soon.
Motorola Droid: The Droid that started it all is set to be second in line for the Android 2.2 upgrade. Early reports suggested the Droid could see Froyo before the end of June. We all know what happened with the Droid's 2.1 upgrade schedule, though, so don't mark your calendars just yet.
HTC Droid Incredible: HTC has confirmed that its newest Droid handset will be feasting on Froyo. No specific timeframe has been released outside of sometime "in the second half of this year."
HTC EVO 4G: The EVO 4G is the phone most frequently pitted up against Apple's new iPhone 4 (hint: the EVO wins), so it's no surprise that it's on the confirmed guest list for the latest and greatest Android release. The EVO should get Froyo sometime in the next six months.
MyTouch 3G and MyTouch 3G Slide: The entire MyTouch line of phones on T-Mobile is expected to see Froyo before the end of 2010.
HTC Desire: It's not yet available in the States, but this desirable HTC handset is on-tap to get the Android 2.2 upgrade sometime in the next six months as well.

Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.
Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.

After updating, do you have to reinstall app to move them to sd via an install option like 1) internal memory 2) for sd card? Or, after update, can you just move apps without reinstalling?

Just wondering if we can share some "must-have" apps and widgets for the HTC Desires running on 2.2 (FROYO). List your top ten with a description of what they do (if it isnt clear from the app name), cost, and where to find them if not in the "Market".In no particular order:
Apps & Widgets
1. Timeriffic (Free, Market) Lets you schedule tasks for your phone to do at specific times of the day (ie. turn on wifi at 6pm when you will be home then off at 23:00 when you will be in bed)

8. Silent Boot (Free, Market) Stops your Desire from making that annoying start up noise
9. Gesture Search (Free, Market) Search by use of gestures on screen
10. "Where's my droid?" (Free, Market) Text your Desire from another phone with a particular word or sentence of choice and it will turn the volume up (if on silent) and alert you to its whereabouts

First let me say I think I'm obsessed with my EVO maybe more so about the Android OS in general. Love reading this message board, XDA, Android Guys and all the other sites to learn more every day. However, one thing I've found is its really hard to stay on top of all the apps that are being released on what seems like a daily basis. What's the best way to find the GOOD apps that are being released? I know there is a "just in" section but most of those are junk. Should I rely on Android Guys or sites like this to simply post them or is there a website that tracks this kind of stuff.I used to be a fanboy but now I'm a droid user for life. Really cool to feel apart of a community and seeing dev's on sites like XDA interacting with normal people rather than the old feeling I had with my Iphone where there was "them" then there was "us" and all they wanted to do was profit off us.

As Canadian customers of Rogers Wireless are now being screwed out of the 1.6 update for our HTC Magic and Dream, and LG Eve phones, we will not be able to run apps that require version 1.6 or above.
We are trying to help Rogers understand why we need this update, as they seem to be having difficulty wrapping their heads around the idea that these are not just phones, but are rather more like little computers.
Since in many cases we can not even see apps in the market place that aren't supported by our phones, it is difficult to provide Rogers with a concise list, so I am hoping everyone in the forums can help me to compile a list of the apps that ONLY work with 1.6 or above.
For example, I know of the following:
- Google Goggles
- Fresh Face (newest version)

1st post, I picked up my EVO on Monday after having 3 different models of the iPhone since 2007. I am really loving android and how versatile it is. One thing I can't seem to find so far is a list of everything Google offers in the Market - apps, widgets, etc. Searching "Google, Inc." in the Market will bring a lot of non Google apps in between and it doesn't seem to load Google's apps first. Is their a website that has a definitive list of Google, Inc.'s offerings in the Market?

Does anyone know if there's a way to retrieve a list of apps currently installed on the phone?Perhaps through an Android service, or system content provider? And once this list is retrieved, is there a way to filter down the list to only apps that have been downloaded via the market? I suppose another way to phrase that last question is:Can my app access the Downloads list that's in the Android Market app?

This may be Nexus One specific, but I'm looking to replace the apps icons page (the list that scrolls around a virtual cube). It just goes too slow and I'd rather have something that moves one full page (and only one full page) at a time-- maybe something similar to the iPhone. Anyone heard of an app that can do this?

I'm running android 2.2 froyo. I have installed Facebook and twitter on my phone and when I try to move them to the SD card I can't. To do this I'm using avast! Mobile security and it has an option to do so. The button "move to SD card" is blacked out for Facebook, twitter and steam. Is there anyway I can get these on my SD card? I have very little internal memory so every megabite counts.

A number of users of my app have reported that on the Nexus One, running Froyo 2.2, the app appears multiple times in the 'Recent Apps' list that is displayed when you long press the home button. Personally, I have not been able to replicate the issue. Have tried killing the app with a task killer then restarting it to see if that would cause the app to appear more than once on the list. Also tried spawning multiple thread from within an activity in the app, but still no go. I have also tested on Droid phones running 2.2 as well as on the 2.2 emulator but to no avail. It is curious that only Nexus One Froyo users experience the issue. The app has one main launcher activity, about 30 different activities and is divided into 4 main tasks to help manage the activity stack. The app also has an IntentService for running network operations in the background. Is there any know scenario that could cause an app to appear multiple times in the 'Recent Apps' list? Is the 'Recent Apps' list populated based on the app package name e.g. com.mycompany.myappname or based on the tasks defined in the application manifest file?

Installed the 2.2 that leaked yesterday - works amazing by the way.Anyway, I wanted to install some of my downloaded apps to SD. Surprise surprise, it doesn't appear that I have this option on ANY of the 15 or so apps I've downloaded.I've read that developers need to unlock this option when they create their app - I guess most of the apps available today just don't support it? Can anyone confirm this? Am I just doing something wrong?

I want to create a new app that's a plugin for the camera or gallery but I'm unsure how to get my app into the list of of apps in the gallery.
After you take picture, if you review it, there is a list of apps that you can do stuff with the picture like Facebook, email, PicSay, etc. This list of apps can also be accessed in the gallery by clicking on the icon that looks like binary tree on its side with three nodes (a dot on the left with two lines coming out heading right at angles up and down connecting to two more dots).
how to get the app I'm writing to show up in this list.

Just got my Desire and I am so happy to see how much faster it is compare with the Legend, and I specially like the addition of the wifi hotspot this is really a must have app nowadays. I give the phone 4 out of 5 stars, due to un-closeable apps and unable to attach a hand strap this is really stupid design.I find some apps can't be closed even with task manager, one of them is the build in FM radio, it won't close even when I unplug the earphone, there is indeed a shutdown button on the app, but click on it has no function, if I force it close with task manager another instance of it will start instead. There are many apps auto start by default with no reason, I use task manager to shut them down to save the resources. IMHO, by the time Android has become stable the Desire will be retired and excluded from the update
