The app runs in the emulator, the apk in the bin directory runs on my phone. But when I export it it will not run on the phone. There is only a message saying that installation failed, no reason nothing. I thought my installation had gone bad so I tried to export one of my other projects but they still worked fine. How can I trace down this error?

1) I am developing my app in Eclipse 3.4.1 with Android (ver 1.1_r1) plugin. My app compiles and executes without errors when using the Eclipse IDE.
However, when I export my app (unsigned) using Eclipse (via {select project} >right-click>Android tools>export unsigned application package), sign it, and try to run it on the Emulator, it throws a runtime error when I try to update my sqlite database, at which time the specific error created is: SQLite error#14, unable to open database. It is able to read from the database without problems. (I have also verified that the database is: open, is not readonly, is not locked by another thread, is not in the middle of a transaction.)
I have limited experience, but this seems more like a "system" problem given that the app works OK in Eclipse IDE but then fails as an exported/signed apk. Some googling of SQLite resources revealed a similar error on a non-Android platform which was fixed by: "Set your permissions correctly on /var/tmp, or whatever directory you are using to hold temporary files".
Does Android have temporary files, and if so how does it handle permissions on temporary files? Is there a way to check or set these permissions to see if this fixes my problem here?
2) Not sure if it is related, but after I have run the exported/signed app which causes the runtime error, if I reboot the Emulator, and try to run the program using the Eclipse IDE , the program fails with the same exact error. PLUS I also noticed the following error message while the program is installing/running: 03-01 22:22:29.282: ERROR/PackageManager(53): Package com.northwestradiology has mismatched uid: 0 on disk, 10019 in settings; read messages:
I can restore the Eclipse version of my program to be able to execute without runtime errors by utilizing the -wipe-data option for the emulator. But note that if I run my signed APK using an emulator created with the -wipe-data option, it still throws the runtime error listed above...
I`m kind of a noob with android an have messed my phone up , basically had a custom rom running leedroid then sold the phone, so decided to reset it then after resetting, the phone ended up in a boot loop so put it in recovery and tried installing the leedroid rom again but cant get it to install or any other rom need urgent help lol as i need to get this thing sent of the phone was on t-mobile but i got it unlocked can somebody please help . I want to run this either on my G1 or the emulator without eclipse being involved. I've already messed up a couple of times and accidentally tested my source code rather than the .apk file and am trying to avoid this.
On a related note, the export signed .apk facility seems to grab "stale" stuff sometimes. How do I do a "clean release build" to make sure I get the latest code in my release?

I can export the contacts to SD but then Sense cant use them and the phone cant see them - I am just now learning of "rooting" - LOL but I am not convinced this will help with Outlook -- IE wont the app still look in the default directory - same as the phone. I know apps can run from the SD after rooting - but what about contacts - will I lose any functionality? Also - I am in Australia - will Rooting and using the Roms I see in here make my phone not work here?

However, the version name and the app itself were still the old version. FYI: lost the original private key or the keystore file. I generated a new keystore file to sign the app. I also met the minSDK problem and solved it by set the minSDKversion in the manifest file. There must be a way to update the app. I don't want to upload the app as an new application since there is a large base of existing customers.

I got them on my SD card and have been trying unsuccessfully to reinstall them all night on package installer but I keep getting this wonderful "process com.android.phone" force close message. I managed to get my phone into airplane mode thinking if I disconnected it from the internet I could stop the error messages and do the installs off my SD card but to no avail. I'm trying to do it through Package Installer.

Okay so my phone will not intall or update certain apps, mostly games. The phone will download them but not be able to install, my brother has an Evo with the same hardware and the the same software and his installs the apps. Is anyone else having this problem. I am thinking about restoring phone to default setting to see if that would fix it but I don't want to have to go and reinstall all my apps that are working.Any suggestions on what to do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay so I rooted using one click method and I choose Tazz Froyo as a custom ROM I want to go back to 2.1 OTA when I download RUU I go threw the wizard I get to the third screen I get ERROR [170]: USB CONNECTION ERROR The ROM update Utility cannot connect to your Android phone. Please check that the USB cable is connected properly between PC and your Android phone. Check the following: 1. The Android phone is connected to the USB cable. 2. The USB is connected to the PC. Which they clearly are the light is on the phone. I made sure it's connected threw the phone and the computer. I don't understand can someone help please so I can go back to 2.1 root isn't for me!
