I downloaded the Android 2.2 update, it installed and everything, but it is still showing Android 2.1-update1 in the Phone info. After it reset, it said that Froyo was installed.

I am new to the andriod platform an i have just got a HTC Desire with Virgin Mobile, PLEASE BE GENTLE.....
It does not seem to be sim locked as i have tried an Orange sim in the phone and it works. I have seen a Desire with Froyo on it and want to upgrade my phone. After trying all the guides on various forums i still cannot upgrade and VM is not offering the update OTA.
when trying the Goldcard method I get error wrong bootloader, when trying with the OTA named update.zip using recovery it also throws up an error and exits. What i have done now is rooted the phone using unrevoked3 method which has worked. i want to have a stock 2.2 phone, not bothered about keeping the root, if i put the OTA update.zip on the sd card (or goldcard as i have created one) and flash using the clockworkmod recovery which is now on my phone will this work or should i update the radio first and will i be able to get OTA updates in future?

when it boots it has the VM logo but apart from that there is no other branding on the phone. Obviously i dont want to brick the phone, i have done lots of reading and i am still unsure of how i can get my phone updated.
So I just rooted my HTC desire but I didn't install a new ROM. Why you may ask because all I wanted to do is install most apps to my SD card because my SD card getting full. I didn't install a ROM because I found out that froyo was not offering this and I had not updated to it but when I try to update I get a quarter of the way thought installing when the bar disappears and a yellow triangle appears behind the android.
I suspect this is because of root. I would very much like to keep with OTA updates if possible. So what would you recommend I do? Proceed with unrooting or update with a RUU or something else?
(FYI I called Talus (my carrier) and they said if the OTA update dose not work after I do a factory reset (already tried) then I could send it in for repair, so I would assume that would reset all the software on my phone thus not being rooted. Would this be an option as my phone is under warranty or would stock ROM but rooted still void it?

Assume I have a contact entry "John Doe" with both a Mobile and a Home number.
When I speak "John Doe", if the dialer can't correctly pinpoint the contact name (eg: "John Doe" vs "Jane Doe"), then it correctly shows me all of the numbers for both people. However, if it correctly matches to the exact name ("John Doe"), then it shows me only the primary number for "John Doe".
It doesn't matter whether I say "Call John Doe", "Call John Doe at Home", or "Call John Doe on Mobile". In all cases I just get a single number offered.

Part of this is setting the "android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" from one activity to another in my manifest. When I run an update from what is on the market to what I download from my website the application starts in the Activity where it used to start before the update. When I un install the application and install it from the same package I got from my website it starts in the Activity where I have now specified it to start. Shorter version: Update fails to update launching activity, un install- reinstall does update the launching activity. Is this a known issue? Do I really need to add logic to correct for people who update the app instead of installing fresh? Asking people to un install for an update is not a viable option. Is there something I can do to clean out whatever is getting saved that is causing the app to launch with the incorrect Activity? This is the second time this has happened to me now. I changed the starting activity of my app, and put out an update, and now the icon on people's phone will not open my app. The only way they can open it is through the downloads section of their Android Market app, or if they uninstall and reinstall the app, causing them to lose ALL their data. I have no problem with updates on my N1, but every other Android phone has a problem with this. Why?

I will try to explain a simple app scenario: My app goes right to a 'main view'. In this main view I have inserted a 'TextView' which displays current settings created by way of the PreferenceManager. For simplicities sake, let's say I have a checkbox in my settings. When I first start my app - the TextView on my main view shows my checkbox setting correctly (true). Now I go to the settings menu, it pops-up, and then I change it to false. I go back to the main view and...no change. It still say's true even after I changed it to false. If I end the app and then re-start it - all is well and it shows my change.
Apparently the main view just stays in the background while I'm changing settings? How can I redraw or update the main view after I change settings?
Will Android have syncml support?
Specifically some of us want to use our Android devices to talk to our company exchange/syncml servers.. Syncing with google calendar using the various programs isnt allowed..
Syncml works, just like symbian has it.
I have downloaded the HTC sync program. I have plugged in my Hero, to the computer... I went to the notifications menu and had it serach for the HTC program. and it said it did not recognize it... But the Sync program was up and running. Also on the left hand corner of the sync program. It said disconnected. What can I do to fix this?

I am having an issue on my Asus Transformer Prime tablet. I had my account on there and downloaded a bunch of apps and games. My wife signed up for an account and we added that one and removed my account as she has taken over my tablet. LOL. The app/game says there is an update but when we go to the Play Store it will not allow us to update it, it only shows OPEN and UNINSTALL. If I add my account back onto the tablet the option for update is there.
Is there anyway to update the apps/games without my account being on there? I thought about just deleting the game and re-installing it under her account but that would erase all of her progress in the game.
whenever i play videos on youtube thru wifi it looks like im running 480p which i dont like because i want to watch videos in 720p whats going on here? also has anyone found a program that will give the phone an equalizer or something ? the stock music player sucks and music plays to low.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe all know that if you hold the Home button it gives us a pop up of recently used applications that run in the background for a certain amount of time. But when I do this, then I press home to get back to the home screen, I get that annoying pop up asking me if I want to use Home or HTC Sense UI. So I checkmark the box to set HTC Sense UI to default and when I press home any other time, it goes to the home screen... But when I use that multitasking feature, it shows that damn screen again...
Is this because of Fresh 1.1? Or is there a way I can get rid of this?
The email is setup to be checked every 10 minutes but it wont load unless i go into the email app and refresh it and then it loads my new emails. it was working fine earlier and most of today it hasnt been working.

The author of the article is right on for the most part. Im willing to pay $199 for the latest and greatest once a year so I dont mind if WiMax will be the niche 4G tech in a year or two. By then, I'll move on to an LTE phone of stick with WiMax, who cares whats happening in 18 months...I'll have my EVO Friday and be able to upgrade in a year.
When I press the back button all the way isnt it suppose to close the browser? The web browser still shows as a running app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm wanting an app that lets me create profiles and toggle them on and off from my home screen. So far, I've found a couple of apps that seem to do this. Primarily what I want to do is to be able to get in my car, toggle a widget on my phone screen and turn on GPS, Blue tooth and Auto brightness. My phone is plugged in in my car so none of these settings matter to me that they drain the battery and I use the phone as a GPS unit in my car. When I get out of my car, I want to be able to toggle to one of two other profiles. One would turn GPS and Auto Brightness off and leave BT on and the other would turn all three off. (When I'm at my office I don't use my BT headset as the handset is sitting right at my desk.) Secondarily, I want to be able to have scenes on my phone change automatically. I've got one that I use for work and another that I use for home. It would be great if I could have it set up so that the work scene was on from 8-5, M-F and then it flipped to the home scene at all other times unless I manually changed it. It doesn't look like Setting Profiles supports this, but I'm wondering if Locale does. If neither app supports this, it's not a huge deal.
