View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been working on an application for the past week or so, and when I went to test it the other day, my console read the following to me:
CODE:............
The icon for the program is present in my emulator, and I have added android.permission.ACCESS_CHECKIN_PROPERTIES to my Manifest.
For some reason the emulator tells me that the program is not installed "on this phone" when I try to run the program using the icon in the emulator. Which I find interesting considering that the console says it was installed successfully..
How do you create a Java program that runs on startup, in the background? I need to create this, or some type of java/c service.
I've created this for an iPhone, and I'm porting my app to the android.
I have a normal Java application, normally, we start an Android application from a Main Activity, now I must start it from my application.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am new at android development and java programming, but I have decided to program a drinking game app in android. This app basically simulates a deck a cards, a player clicks a button to draw a card then based on the card thats drawn the player plays a drinking game (ie takes 1 drink, takes 2 drinks ect).
I have the main program in one java file, and the code that shuffles the card deck and puts the card sequence in an array in other java file. My problem is that whenever a class from the other java file (classicMode.java) is called from the main program (fubar.java), my android program crashes and gives the error : "The application Drinking Game - FUBAR (process com.games.dg) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". Code...
I couldn't help but notice that caller state information isn't included in our Stock ROMs. This feature was pretty awesome on my touch pro2 and various other phones. Is there any program from the market or a ripped version of City ID from any of verizon's Android phones that will work with ours?

I could think of two options 1) Use http post methods to send data to a php script at the server which would later call the google api's written in another java program (jar)or use php to use google api's (if its possible) to find nearby restaurants and send the list back to client. 2) Use simple java socket programming. The server has a jar file that supports multi threading and it does the job of finding restaurants and sending the list.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe following link states that "A Java or RCP version of Eclipse is recommended. For Eclipse 3.5, the "Eclipse Classic" version is recommended."
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html
However, Eclipse 3.6 is available and as a total newbie I am not sure whether the recommendation for "Eclipse Classic" over RCP (or Java) still holds true.
I'm looking for a task program that's more than just a start-up monitor or a one-time tasks killer. I'm after something which constantly monitors what programs are opening and automatically kills those I don't need (for instance Maps, MP3 Store, Outlook Tasks, Settings, Touchdown, all of which, however many times I close them, seem to keep reopening). So I need something intelligent that will run in the background and close apps as necessary.
Can anybody please recommend anything?
I have had a million problems using eclipse. First the .exe was in valid. Then java failed to work. Now my java is not compatible with my version of eclipse. Looking for version of eclipse a ready with the android sdk and java in with it (for Windows).

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat I did was create two .java files. One that can compile and run on a 1.5 phone (SDK3) and then one that works on 2.0(SDK5) So for this example i'll call the 1.5 file ExampleOld and the new one Example. I was wondering if i just made activity like this if it would work sort of like a "portal" and pick the activity to load depending on the SDK so there is no crash or compile errors. Are there any changes I should make to my code? Maybe anyone out there that's had to do this before.

I want to make calendar view in order to support touch interaction. So I'd like to build new custom calendar view. I tried to make mapping function between view offset and real date value.
Here is my idea:
If I can compute the number of weeks since base date(in my case, 1989-12-31), it is easy to know offset. HEIGHT_FOR_WEEK * NUM_OF_WEEK is very simple computation to know exact offset.
My problem is this:
First I got milliseconds value from base date. And I set the milliseconds to another calendar object. I expected same date from that object. But actually it was different date.

Here is my CODE:.........................
Which one should I use java.util.Date or android.text.format.Time? It seems you can accomplish what one needs to do with either. What I need to do is at times get the current date and time and sometimes set a date and time specified by the user.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am developing a simple app which does a little bit of image-processing. It's divided in two activities; the main one with some display elements and the second one which is used to capture images off the phone's camera.
To discribe my problem: I start the app, capture an image (by starting a new Intent with the subactivity) and all data is displayed correctly. If I capture another image after this, I run in an java.lang.OutOfMemoryError - bitmap size exceeds VM budget
I dont store the captured bitmap, in the second activity I just extract some data from it and pass it to the main-activity; finishing (finish()) the sub-activity afterwards.
I want to access the build type [release/debug] in java code and xml file to enable or disable the particular feature at the run time.
Please let me know if we have any environment variable defined for it which can be accessed in java code and in xml file also.
So I am running an older version IC3ROM (4+ months old). When I left, Froyo was a buzz word, and leak rooting was a dream rumored to never happen. Is it time to upgrade to something new? I can't really complain about IC3ROM, as with Launcher Pro, it has been great. I don't particularly like the idea of starting over, but if there's something out there worth it, I'd give it a go. Opinions? I don't really care about Verizon's interface as I always replace it with launcher pro, but performance and stability is #1 concern.

I basically want the Moto Droid lock screen on my EVO for the slide to toggle sound on/off feature due to the lack of an external switch on the EVO. Would I be best to get the paid version or will the free version do that?
