Android :: Droid OTA Update Last Night?

Jan 5, 2010

Was there a stealth OTA Motorla Droid update last night?I woke up this morning to find my Droid turned off while sitting in the multimedia dock. The power was drained despite the fact that it was powered from the wall. At first, I thought I was careless and that the system drained. However, after turning it on, I received a phone call and the screen had changed.Note how the answer buttons have arrows that go up and down.(Although, you still slide horizontally.)I was hoping this was a sign of 2.1. However, it still says firmware version 2.0.1. Build is ESD56 and Kernel 2.6.29.

HTC Desire :: Re-starting In Night Since FroYo Update

Aug 3, 2010

Tried a search but couldn't find anything similar to what's been happening to my phone since I updated to FroYo on Sunday.Update went through fine on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning at about 5am I heard my phone go off, picked it up in a sleepy haze and noticed the white "Quietly Brilliant" HTC screen, as if it has rebooted itself. Keyed in my security code and thought nothing of it, went back to sleep. Phone good as gold all day - no further issues on Monday. This morning, at around 4am, it did the same - re-started in the night, woke me up with a chime and the bright white screen. Keyed in the code, went back to sleep. Did the same at about 5am. The battery is currently about half full, so I don't think it's an issue there.I bought the phone about 2 weeks ago and didn't have any issues til I updated. The only setting I changed witin the phone was to have a security code set up for when it comes off standby. I've installed a couple of games since then too.Can anyone help? I'm going to turn my security code off and see what happens tonight, but has anyone else had this problem since the update?

I did notice a small icon in the top bar, sort of looked like an eye, but to be honest I was too sleepy to press it to find out what it was and it's now gone. No apps running on the phone, just WiFi, Bluetooth etc. Auto-update is set to on, which makes me think it's updating something? But why the re-boot?I don't mind it re-starting if it's meant to, it's just the fact it wakes me up at silly o'clock.

HTC EVO 4G :: Night Clock Running All Night In A Dimmer Mode

Jul 7, 2010

So i really like the clock function and the ability to use it as an alarm clock next to my bed. I set it in the mode with the quarter moon and star. What m worried about is the effect on my LCD screen. It seems to be running all night but in a dimmer mode. Is it ok to use the feature every night? Will i end up ruining my LCD a lot faster?

Do you know if there is a night mode on the Motorola Droid. I find the phone screen to be very bright at night. I have lowered the brightness all the way down but that is still too bright.

Motorola Droid X :: Battery Dropping With Almost No Use At Night

Jul 21, 2010

I really enjoy this phone, but unfortunately I keep running into odd battery issues. I fully charged the phone while sleeping last night and now the phone is down to 40% with almost no usage (10 hours). I checked the battery manager and it said the display has used 94% of the battery which is extremely odd, seeing as how I haven't really used the phone at all today. The brightness is set at 40% and screen timeout to 30 seconds. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I suspect it may be a rogue application, unfortunately the Droid X does not show what applications are eating the battery in the manager.

Motorola Droid :: Using Multimedia Dock Every Night

Dec 28, 2009

First of all, I love the Dock. It has replaced my nightstand clock ever since I bought it.Two worries thought:

1. Although I use the dimmed version of the dock app, isn't having the phone's screen on 8 hours a day going to have a negative effect on it (burn in, progressive dimness over time)?

2. Considering that by using the phone like this I am practically recharging the battery every night, even if it's only at about 50% - am I hurting the battery in any way? I know there's no memory effect, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's not good to keep it at 100% for too long either.

Motorola Droid :: How To Stop E-mail Notifications In Middle Of Night?

Feb 1, 2010

What's your work around for e-mail notifications in the middle of the night. I really don't want to change setting every night just to set them back each morning. (the phone sits in the docking station on the nightstand). I guess I could just silent phone with the volume shortcut on the side of the phone, however if I receive a call or text in the middle of the night 99% of the time it is truly important. As stupid as it is, I have the crank yankers "I got mail" notification for my e-mail accounts for work and home. My wife says that if it goes off one more time in the night (lately about 3-4 times a night, & at all hours) she is going to smash my phone. Half the time it doesn't wake me up, and if it does, I can fall back asleep no problem. But for the sake of keeping wifey happy, I have to come up with a solution.

General :: Droid II Started Playing Music In Middle Of Night

Jun 17, 2012

It'll just start playing a song (always the same one) out of nowhere. At 4 am this morning it brought my wife and I out of dead sleep, can't have that. Also, while the song is playing, it isn't shown in the music player at all; it's like a ghost song and we can't figure out how to stop it without turning off phone. If we let the song play out, no other song follows. We just use the music player that came with the phone and get some of the music from Droid Tunes. I just downloaded a song using the Droid tunes and as soon as it was done, this ghost song played. We use AVG free virus on the phone and it doesn't catch anything.

Motorola Droid X :: Fast Battery Drainage During Night In Sleep Mode

Jul 21, 2010

Night before last, I charged the battery to 100% before I went to sleep. When I was going to sleep, I unplugged it. When I woke up 7 hours later, it had only dropped 30% to 70%. I did the software upgrade, and the battery jumped back up to 80% and lasted a Long time. Well, last night, I did the same thing, and when I woke up, my battery had dropped to 50%. The phone was supposedly sleeping this whole time! A few minutes on the browser to look up the issue brought me down to 40%.

All I installed yesterday was YellowPages, WhitePages, Flikie (then uninstalled it) and LauncherPro (could this be the culprit?). Before I went to bed though, I opened GMail, and it was having trouble connecting to the server and finally gave me a "retry" button because it couldn't connect. I never pressed it and just went to sleep. WiFi, GPS, everything was off, and the screen was set to lowest brightness (which doesn't even matter here.) Why it dropped so much?

Motorola Droid :: Battery Charging Semi Frequently And Shutting It Off At Night?

Nov 30, 2009

I was wondering what kind of knowledge you guys have about the LI-ION batteries in this badboy. I see a lot of conflicting things online, and from what I gather...you shouldn't be charging overnight, and you shouldn't frequently do full cycle discharge. So, what is the best practice? Charging semi frequently and shutting it off at night? I dislike this because I use the phone as an alarm, and don't want to wake up with the battery starting at 90 for the day.

Also, if you're not supposed to charge overnight (which i've done with many other phones and they were fine), then if I do get the media dock...it would charge overnight every night as my alarm clock.... isn't that bad for the battery? I'm just concerned about ruining my battery, what have you guys heard, and what effects have you seen?

Motorola Droid :: USB Multiple Port Travel Chargers / Had To Pull Battery Last Night

Jan 22, 2010

I'm not sure if this is the problem - but it could be...sorry for the long post, but could REALLY use your help - and this is the best place to find it! Last night I hooked up my Droid to charge on this charger: Amazon.com: Lenmar ACUSB4 AC Travel Adapter for up to 4 USB Powered Devices (Black): Electronics.I went and checked on it later and it was turned off. This was after about 2 hours. The power button wouldn't work and I had to pull the battery to get it to turn on.

So I was thinking that maybe the charger wasn't good enough. Granted, it's not rated all that high but reviews have people charging an iPod, iPhone, Blackberry, and Kindle all at once with it.

It has the 5V output but a lower MA rating (I think 300ma input is what it says). I have another single port charger that only has 500ma (before people come in and say you NEED 800ma or whatever) and it works fine. Anyhow, I tried to replicate the problem by plugging it back into the charger (I wanted to see if it was the charger, or something I did, like set it down too hard...as I have the business card under the battery trick for the back case, thought maybe I dislodged it and was covering the leads or something), and after 8.5 hours, no problems. Fully charged, it was on this morning when I woke.I would REALLY prefer to have a multiple USB charger (even if it costs 50 bucks or more) because I travel a TON and have a bunch of USB devices (6+) that need charged.

I use Timeriffic and can turn down the brightness to 0% but I do not know if I want that. What if someone calls me and the brightness is 0%?
