View 2 RepliesI thought night mode navigation was coming with 2.1? If it was in the 2.1 update how do you activate it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedDo you know if there is a night mode on the Motorola Droid. I find the phone screen to be very bright at night. I am thinking about something like the GPS do, White backgrounds during the day, black at night etc etc. Any ideas on how to do this? I have lowered the brightness all the way down but that is still too bright.

View 49 Replies View RelatedWhen using navigation is there a way to set the maps to a night mode? The screen is way to bright to use at night even after turning brightness all the way down.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNight before last, I charged the battery to 100% before I went to sleep. When I was going to sleep, I unplugged it. When I woke up 7 hours later, it had only dropped 30% to 70%. I did the software upgrade, and the battery jumped back up to 80% and lasted a Long time. Well, last night, I did the same thing, and when I woke up, my battery had dropped to 50%. The phone was supposedly sleeping this whole time! A few minutes on the browser to look up the issue brought me down to 40%.
All I installed yesterday was YellowPages, WhitePages, Flikie (then uninstalled it) and LauncherPro (could this be the culprit?). Before I went to bed though, I opened GMail, and it was having trouble connecting to the server and finally gave me a "retry" button because it couldn't connect. I never pressed it and just went to sleep. WiFi, GPS, everything was off, and the screen was set to lowest brightness (which doesn't even matter here.) Why it dropped so much?
So i really like the clock function and the ability to use it as an alarm clock next to my bed. I set it in the mode with the quarter moon and star. What m worried about is the effect on my LCD screen. It seems to be running all night but in a dimmer mode. Is it ok to use the feature every night? Will i end up ruining my LCD a lot faster?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have always been a little uncomfortable with the HTC widget on the home screen that took a large 2x4 block (2 rows x 4 columns) out of the home screen to display the time and weather.. especially because I wanted a few more apps to be displayed on my home screen that I regularly use..
So I removed the HTC clock widget that displayed the large 4x4 clock and weather and instead dropped the HTC clock widget that is 1x2 (5 of the 12 choices available in that widget).. and the HTC weather widget right next to it (or even below it).. which is also a 1x2 size..(choice 3 of 3 in that widget)..
so I basically get the same information with regards to time and weather..and I also end up saving 1 row, which can be filled with 4 additional apps.
Another tip: Instead of using the HTC favorites widget to peg your favorite people to call a touch away.. use the shortcut/add person to peg them on screen. The favorite widget takes a lot more space especially when you don't fill it up.
Seems like froyo broke the option to have a ring mode, silent mode, AND a vibrate mode separately?
Personally, I'd like to be able to be notified discretely in social situations without having the ring on, BUT also the convenience of being able to turn everything off with a quick swipe. The vibrate is pretty dang loud.
Ever since I upgraded to the non-official Froyo, I've been experiencing problems trying to get the two to work together. If I'm on hte Pandora screen with the Nav running in background, the song will pause when directions are given (audio priority to Nav) and will not play again until I hit play (note that the song is actually paused in pandora and not just temporarily muted by the Android OS) If I'm on the Nav screen (with Pandora running in background) the song will stop playing when directions are given, and when I hit home to get back to Pandora, I find that it had been terminated completely and I have to restart it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI get notifications, mostly email, through the night. Most of them are commercial emails that go out at 2-4am and wake me up. Is there a way, or an app, that allows the notifications for alerts (not phone) to be automatically shut off for specified hours?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen using Google Sky Map, I like to put it into Night Mode so it doesn't affect my night vision as much. Except that the Home, Menu, Back, and Search buttons seem to stay brightly lit. Aside from covering these with my hand while using the app, does anyone know if there is a way to disable this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just thought I'd put up 2 pics to show you how good the night mode is. They were taken probably 10 secs apart in my room which isn't too bright (as can be seen in the first pic). The second image is with night mode on.
View 6 Replies View RelatedYes this could be old news but listen. My D1 will not go into night mode w navigation app when I am in the tab of navigation. It has been written that it is supposed to go into night mode in the navigation "tab" not map "tab", but it's not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need some app that will turn on Airplane mode at night or atleast turn off Data connection. For specific time period. I found out that data are consuming too much of my battery at night.
View 3 Replies View RelatedTried a search but couldn't find anything similar to what's been happening to my phone since I updated to FroYo on Sunday.Update went through fine on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning at about 5am I heard my phone go off, picked it up in a sleepy haze and noticed the white "Quietly Brilliant" HTC screen, as if it has rebooted itself. Keyed in my security code and thought nothing of it, went back to sleep. Phone good as gold all day - no further issues on Monday. This morning, at around 4am, it did the same - re-started in the night, woke me up with a chime and the bright white screen. Keyed in the code, went back to sleep. Did the same at about 5am. The battery is currently about half full, so I don't think it's an issue there.I bought the phone about 2 weeks ago and didn't have any issues til I updated. The only setting I changed witin the phone was to have a security code set up for when it comes off standby. I've installed a couple of games since then too.Can anyone help? I'm going to turn my security code off and see what happens tonight, but has anyone else had this problem since the update?
I did notice a small icon in the top bar, sort of looked like an eye, but to be honest I was too sleepy to press it to find out what it was and it's now gone. No apps running on the phone, just WiFi, Bluetooth etc. Auto-update is set to on, which makes me think it's updating something? But why the re-boot?I don't mind it re-starting if it's meant to, it's just the fact it wakes me up at silly o'clock.
Surface flinger turns off all pixels except for certain colors on OLED displays. Turning on only the red display results in a MUCH increased battery life. Looks like something to be included as an option in new Roms & such.
View 11 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting, or an app, to turn the display red?
I do a lot of science-type stuff (astronomy), and also photograph at night. I used a red-tinted flashlight, so as to not ruin my night vision. I would love to be able to use my phone while shooting, or doing astronomy stuff out in the dark, and not have bright white glow from the phone.
I am using HTC Desire S, upgraded to RUU version Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. This RUU version came straight from HTCDev. This RUU version doesn't support inverted mode.
Because of this difficulty, I am unable to search and find web browsers that support inverted mode. Google search will always come up with tutorials on how to turn on inverted mode in the ICS browser, which this RUU version doesn't support.
Where can I find a list of browsers that support Inverted Mode/Night Mode?I do know Dolphin Browser dropped support for Night Mode.
Im using Prestigio PAP4040 with stock android 4.0.4. on it and among other bugs i discovered one pretty nasty. Phone reboots while taking picture using night mode, without LED fash turned on. I dont know why is that so, but i tried everything to see is it the camera app, android system or just phone. So, how to diagnose where the fault is or to solve?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOften at night when I use phone lowest brightness is still bright so I found apps which can dim it further but then they loose screen contrast too making it difficult to read.
Is there any app which can make night mode of selected apps (browser/gtalk/gmail/other few user selectable apps) background dark & font light / white similar to youtube app?
UC browser had this night mode earlier but latest version they have removed this feature. Ideally such app should be time sensitive & as the night time approaches it should start applying the night mode.
Coming from a BB it was easy to shut up notifications for messaging at night. I need to have the phone active but the notification tone from emails is driving me towards throwing this phone away. Another option would be turning off notification tone all together. But I can't figure out how to do that either
View 10 Replies View RelatedI really enjoy this phone, but unfortunately I keep running into odd battery issues. I fully charged the phone while sleeping last night and now the phone is down to 40% with almost no usage (10 hours). I checked the battery manager and it said the display has used 94% of the battery which is extremely odd, seeing as how I haven't really used the phone at all today. The brightness is set at 40% and screen timeout to 30 seconds. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I suspect it may be a rogue application, unfortunately the Droid X does not show what applications are eating the battery in the manager.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, I love the Dock. It has replaced my nightstand clock ever since I bought it.Two worries thought:
1. Although I use the dimmed version of the dock app, isn't having the phone's screen on 8 hours a day going to have a negative effect on it (burn in, progressive dimness over time)?
2. Considering that by using the phone like this I am practically recharging the battery every night, even if it's only at about 50% - am I hurting the battery in any way? I know there's no memory effect, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's not good to keep it at 100% for too long either.
I know devs really need the AOSP to create the ROM properly. With this announcement, does it mean you can get this now?

One of my favorite devs, and creator of the Bedside app has come out with a hack app that turns those pesky LEDs off while the DROID is in the multimedia dock. Until Google fixes this issue, this work-around for us rooted owners is just the ticket.
Look for Softbuttons Lights Hack on the Market, or CLICK HERE from your DROID.
