View 49 Replies View RelatedWhen using navigation is there a way to set the maps to a night mode? The screen is way to bright to use at night even after turning brightness all the way down.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought night mode navigation was coming with 2.1? If it was in the 2.1 update how do you activate it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedDo you know if there is a night mode on the Motorola Droid. I find the phone screen to be very bright at night. I am thinking about something like the GPS do, White backgrounds during the day, black at night etc etc. Any ideas on how to do this? I have lowered the brightness all the way down but that is still too bright.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen using Google Sky Map, I like to put it into Night Mode so it doesn't affect my night vision as much. Except that the Home, Menu, Back, and Search buttons seem to stay brightly lit. Aside from covering these with my hand while using the app, does anyone know if there is a way to disable this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI set my phone to night time saver mode since it's appropriate but unable to find a setting to edit the time from 10-5am to 1-7am. I was able to do it with 2.1.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNight before last, I charged the battery to 100% before I went to sleep. When I was going to sleep, I unplugged it. When I woke up 7 hours later, it had only dropped 30% to 70%. I did the software upgrade, and the battery jumped back up to 80% and lasted a Long time. Well, last night, I did the same thing, and when I woke up, my battery had dropped to 50%. The phone was supposedly sleeping this whole time! A few minutes on the browser to look up the issue brought me down to 40%.
All I installed yesterday was YellowPages, WhitePages, Flikie (then uninstalled it) and LauncherPro (could this be the culprit?). Before I went to bed though, I opened GMail, and it was having trouble connecting to the server and finally gave me a "retry" button because it couldn't connect. I never pressed it and just went to sleep. WiFi, GPS, everything was off, and the screen was set to lowest brightness (which doesn't even matter here.) Why it dropped so much?
So i really like the clock function and the ability to use it as an alarm clock next to my bed. I set it in the mode with the quarter moon and star. What m worried about is the effect on my LCD screen. It seems to be running all night but in a dimmer mode. Is it ok to use the feature every night? Will i end up ruining my LCD a lot faster?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI just thought I'd put up 2 pics to show you how good the night mode is. They were taken probably 10 secs apart in my room which isn't too bright (as can be seen in the first pic). The second image is with night mode on.
View 6 Replies View RelatedYes this could be old news but listen. My D1 will not go into night mode w navigation app when I am in the tab of navigation. It has been written that it is supposed to go into night mode in the navigation "tab" not map "tab", but it's not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need some app that will turn on Airplane mode at night or atleast turn off Data connection. For specific time period. I found out that data are consuming too much of my battery at night.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSurface flinger turns off all pixels except for certain colors on OLED displays. Turning on only the red display results in a MUCH increased battery life. Looks like something to be included as an option in new Roms & such.
View 11 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting, or an app, to turn the display red?
I do a lot of science-type stuff (astronomy), and also photograph at night. I used a red-tinted flashlight, so as to not ruin my night vision. I would love to be able to use my phone while shooting, or doing astronomy stuff out in the dark, and not have bright white glow from the phone.
I am using HTC Desire S, upgraded to RUU version Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. This RUU version came straight from HTCDev. This RUU version doesn't support inverted mode.
Because of this difficulty, I am unable to search and find web browsers that support inverted mode. Google search will always come up with tutorials on how to turn on inverted mode in the ICS browser, which this RUU version doesn't support.
Where can I find a list of browsers that support Inverted Mode/Night Mode?I do know Dolphin Browser dropped support for Night Mode.
Im using Prestigio PAP4040 with stock android 4.0.4. on it and among other bugs i discovered one pretty nasty. Phone reboots while taking picture using night mode, without LED fash turned on. I dont know why is that so, but i tried everything to see is it the camera app, android system or just phone. So, how to diagnose where the fault is or to solve?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else tried it out yet? What did you think?I figured I should clarify here. I'm talking about the Standard Voicemail Mode just added.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOften at night when I use phone lowest brightness is still bright so I found apps which can dim it further but then they loose screen contrast too making it difficult to read.
Is there any app which can make night mode of selected apps (browser/gtalk/gmail/other few user selectable apps) background dark & font light / white similar to youtube app?
UC browser had this night mode earlier but latest version they have removed this feature. Ideally such app should be time sensitive & as the night time approaches it should start applying the night mode.
Coming from a BB it was easy to shut up notifications for messaging at night. I need to have the phone active but the notification tone from emails is driving me towards throwing this phone away. Another option would be turning off notification tone all together. But I can't figure out how to do that either
View 10 Replies View RelatedI really enjoy this phone, but unfortunately I keep running into odd battery issues. I fully charged the phone while sleeping last night and now the phone is down to 40% with almost no usage (10 hours). I checked the battery manager and it said the display has used 94% of the battery which is extremely odd, seeing as how I haven't really used the phone at all today. The brightness is set at 40% and screen timeout to 30 seconds. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I suspect it may be a rogue application, unfortunately the Droid X does not show what applications are eating the battery in the manager.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, I love the Dock. It has replaced my nightstand clock ever since I bought it.Two worries thought:
1. Although I use the dimmed version of the dock app, isn't having the phone's screen on 8 hours a day going to have a negative effect on it (burn in, progressive dimness over time)?
2. Considering that by using the phone like this I am practically recharging the battery every night, even if it's only at about 50% - am I hurting the battery in any way? I know there's no memory effect, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's not good to keep it at 100% for too long either.
I know devs really need the AOSP to create the ROM properly. With this announcement, does it mean you can get this now?

One of my favorite devs, and creator of the Bedside app has come out with a hack app that turns those pesky LEDs off while the DROID is in the multimedia dock. Until Google fixes this issue, this work-around for us rooted owners is just the ticket.
Look for Softbuttons Lights Hack on the Market, or CLICK HERE from your DROID.
Is it safe to leave my phone plugged in to the dock all night? While I'm at it, is it cool to leave the aux cable from my speakers in too?
View 12 Replies View RelatedWhat's your work around for e-mail notifications in the middle of the night. I really don't want to change setting every night just to set them back each morning. (the phone sits in the docking station on the nightstand). I guess I could just silent phone with the volume shortcut on the side of the phone, however if I receive a call or text in the middle of the night 99% of the time it is truly important. As stupid as it is, I have the crank yankers "I got mail" notification for my e-mail accounts for work and home. My wife says that if it goes off one more time in the night (lately about 3-4 times a night, & at all hours) she is going to smash my phone. Half the time it doesn't wake me up, and if it does, I can fall back asleep no problem. But for the sake of keeping wifey happy, I have to come up with a solution.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI was wondering what kind of knowledge you guys have about the LI-ION batteries in this badboy. I see a lot of conflicting things online, and from what I gather...you shouldn't be charging overnight, and you shouldn't frequently do full cycle discharge. So, what is the best practice? Charging semi frequently and shutting it off at night? I dislike this because I use the phone as an alarm, and don't want to wake up with the battery starting at 90 for the day.
Also, if you're not supposed to charge overnight (which i've done with many other phones and they were fine), then if I do get the media dock...it would charge overnight every night as my alarm clock.... isn't that bad for the battery? I'm just concerned about ruining my battery, what have you guys heard, and what effects have you seen?
I'm not sure if this is the problem - but it could be...sorry for the long post, but could REALLY use your help - and this is the best place to find it! Last night I hooked up my Droid to charge on this charger: Amazon.com: Lenmar ACUSB4 AC Travel Adapter for up to 4 USB Powered Devices (Black): Electronics.I went and checked on it later and it was turned off. This was after about 2 hours. The power button wouldn't work and I had to pull the battery to get it to turn on.
So I was thinking that maybe the charger wasn't good enough. Granted, it's not rated all that high but reviews have people charging an iPod, iPhone, Blackberry, and Kindle all at once with it.
It has the 5V output but a lower MA rating (I think 300ma input is what it says). I have another single port charger that only has 500ma (before people come in and say you NEED 800ma or whatever) and it works fine. Anyhow, I tried to replicate the problem by plugging it back into the charger (I wanted to see if it was the charger, or something I did, like set it down too hard...as I have the business card under the battery trick for the back case, thought maybe I dislodged it and was covering the leads or something), and after 8.5 hours, no problems. Fully charged, it was on this morning when I woke.I would REALLY prefer to have a multiple USB charger (even if it costs 50 bucks or more) because I travel a TON and have a bunch of USB devices (6+) that need charged.
Does anyone else turn their Droid off every night?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have noticed an irritating condition with Navigator. When I turn it to landscape mode, the screen darkens to unreadable. I can turn it back to portrait and it immediately re-appears. This only happens when I pick it up - It can be laying in the seat in LS mode and be perfectly visible, as soon as I pick it up, it goes dark. If this is a feature, what is the benefit?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWas there a stealth OTA Motorla Droid update last night?I woke up this morning to find my Droid turned off while sitting in the multimedia dock. The power was drained despite the fact that it was powered from the wall. At first, I thought I was careless and that the system drained. However, after turning it on, I received a phone call and the screen had changed.Note how the answer buttons have arrows that go up and down.(Although, you still slide horizontally.)I was hoping this was a sign of 2.1. However, it still says firmware version 2.0.1. Build is ESD56 and Kernel 2.6.29.
