Can i change the media volume? and how? I used this so far:
setVolumeControlStream(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC);
But have a seekbar and want to change the media volume not ringervol.
So can someone show me how to just change the media volume at onCreate() and i fix the seekbar later.

On one page of my app there are sounds. Is there a line of code to allow the volume up/down buttons to switch to media volume control for that page of the app only? Or do I need to set it for the entire app, and how do I do that?

I have a work profile and it shuts off wifi, turns my ringer off, etc. I would also like to turn the media volume off so that if I play a game or start an app with music it won't disturb others. View 2 Replies View RelatedThe volume buttons/rocker on my phone does not allow me to change to media only. If no media is playing it only changes the ringer volume.
Imagine this setting, in my car I have volume all the way up, I get out of car and put on headphones, volume is too loud. I ether play music to where my ears bust or I go into settings and change the volume there. When I try to turn it down immediately, it changes the ringer until I let that volume display disappear. Which means I'm stuck listening to it too loud until I let it disappear to where I can change the media volume.
My little rant is over, how do I force the volume buttons to only be media!
I don't know if it's from some app I installed or what. But I noticed recently that suddenly the volume rocker only controls the Media Volume or the In-call volume (if you're in a call), not the Ringer Volume. I don't have anything playing, so not sure why it's like that. I want it to default to ringer and I'll worry about Media when I'm actually in a program that uses it.

It's something like a Toast with "Media Volume" title which appears when we press volume buttons (+ and -) in games. But I don't know which View it's, or it's a Toast, a Dialog. So far as I try, I could not find anything which refers it. Only Activity.setVolumeControlStream(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC)

I noticed that you can't adjust media volume without first playing media. Like you have to, for example, press the play button before pressing rocker volume in order to adjust media volume or else you'll just be adjusting ringer volume. This is unfortunate since games also use media volume. So if you wonna start up a quick game in a quiet setting, your in trouble if you were listening music before and never turned down/off the media volume. Unless I'm missing something and there is in fact a way to do it?

I usually have my phone set to vibrate but I'm unable to change the media volume in any way. Ringer and notification volumes don't give me any problems. I have found that if I turn my phone off and then on again the media volume will be turned on too but it will get stuck silenced again shortly after.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have an issue with their Media Volume being set to 0 and when you adjust it, either when in an app (YouTube, mp3 player, RingDroid) or via Settings>Sound>Volume, it still won't adjust? I can't set the volume for Media no matter how I try. It visibly shows that I raised it in Settings, but then I back out and go back in to check, it's 0 again.
When I am in RingDroid, for example, I hit the volume button, the pop up for Media Volume shows at 0, and won't let me raise it with the volume buttons same for YouTube, etc. I know previously, I've reset the phone to fix it, but this is ridiculous. I don't know what's causing it other than possibly putting my phone on vibrate while at work, but that shouldn't affect the Media Volume, just Ringer and Alerts. And before anyone suggests it, I took the phone Off vibrate mode and still get the same result.
Is there a quick way to adjust the media volume without having to launch a media app? The rocker defaults to ringer, but since I like to use the voice search button a lot it is extremely irritating when the connection error bong or success bong blasts so loud. seems like those should be tied in with the ringer vol/vib control not media volume. I looked for a volume control app or widget to go with the buzzlock and ring profile icons i have unnecessarily taking up space, but i couldn't find one that looked like it fit the bill and worked on Droid.

At full volume with earphones, the volume is still quite low, much lower than what my blackberry puts out, and not very good. Any way to up the volume besides the side volume rocker? As much as I knew, There are 4 volume types in Android Phone. They are "Ringer Volume", "Media Volume", "Alarm Volume", and "Volume". But the volumes which are adjustable in Settings are only "Ringer Volume" and Alarm Volume" in Settings - Audio Profiles. I can't find where to adjust "Media Volume" and "Volume".

The problem I have is that the minimum volume for media is still too loud for me while listening to music at work. Is there any way I could say, lower the overall volume of the phone?
