I'm sorry to double post, but this is very important to me. I am making an intranet website that exactly fits the screen of the device it will be used on (Archos 7 home tablet in this case, Android 1.5).
All browsers (default, dolphin, steel, UC) interpret tap&drag on a website as scrolling. I don't want this. Ideally, I want it to be registered as mouse actions. Is there a way to do this?

The idea is to control the scrolling via other means and not user touch. i.e. up/down buttons, or random scrolling...
Just wondering if there is an easier way to simply stop ScrollView from being scrolled via touch inputs? I will programmatically get the ScrollView to scroll to top or bottom.
As a last resort, I guess I will have to inherit from ScrollView and capture all the ontouch events. But wondering if there is an easier way before I take this approach?

There are tabs that come out if you sidescroll preventing me from sidescrolling the page also preventing me from selecting text. Anyone know how to disable or work around this?

Unfortunately, this isn't working on HTC devices (HTC Hero, etc) with Android 2.1. Any ideas on how I can disable pinch-to-zoom in this browser? Works fine on the iPhone.
I just got the OTA 2.2 update and love the speed of Froyo...it REALLY is faster that 2.1. BUT its not fast enough to run flash properly on some pages. IGN.com is one site that its just to choppy to scroll around properly. I'd rather have speed and smoothness than flash and I don't see any options to disable flash.
Anyone know if it can be disabled and where is the option? And by disable it I mean give the static image....not the green arrow in the white box. The reason is because some pages do not render properly when flash is disabled. A HUGE white box covers a lot of the screen. One example is IGN.com.
Also on a side note, everything else to me was extremely fast on 2.1 and the reason why most people can't tell 2.2 is faster is because they are looking at the fast things in 2.1 and trying to decide if its faster...which you can't really do...you have to look at whats slow. Its like seeing a car fly by...was it going 90 or 100? Hard to tell....but I'm sure you can tell between a car going 20 or 60.
Below are a couple of things in 2.2 is definetely faster than 2.1 for me.
1. Scrolling through text messages is much smoother than 2.1
2. There was a slight 1 - 2 second delay in 2.1 when going to bookmarks (using the thumbnail option)...I guess to load up the images...it is now much quicker. Also, scrolling through the thumbnail bookmarks is a lot quicker.
Between pinch and tap zooming, the zoom buttons are now just in my way. Is there a way to disable them?
View 4 Replies View RelatedComing from an iPhone to the Fascinate, I've noticed that the pinch to zoom feature in the browser auto-fits the text after the zoom in. On my iPhone that didn't happen. I can see where auto-fit would come in handy, but there are times I don't want the layout of the site to change. I just want to zoom it a little - I'll happily finger scroll to the left, right, up, or down to read something.
Is there a way to disable the auto-fit on the zoom-in for the stock browser? I know there are other browsers out there, but I'm asking about the stock browser.
Perhaps this is a feature coming in 2.2?

The thing is most of the website i browse during the day i don't really need javascript plus if i use roaming i can browse a lot of more with my restricted data plan but some times for certain site i really need javascript or they don't even work or work really bad.

This means that I can end up in the situation where I have a parent scrollview and somewhere down the heirachy I can have a listView or a multiline TextView. Both of these scenarios continue to work fine under 2.1, however are broken in 2.2 (both device and emulator). The symptoms are that the child (list or textview) is unable to scroll using touch gestures although they can be scrolled using the keypad. I'm not sure if its even a ListView but I want something that looks like the list view (ie. have those divider bars and what not but NOT SCROLLABLE). Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to invert scrolling so that you swipe down-to-go-down and up-to-go-up instead of the way it is by default: up-to-go-down and down-to-go-up?The only reason it's a problem for me is that I have a laptop and use two-finger-scrolling on the trackpad (down-to-go-down/up-to-go-up). This means that when I switch from one to the other, I keep trying to go the wring way with my swipes. Confusing. I looked through all of the settings on the phone and tried googling and looking through the available apps but to no avail.

I have a ListView with custom rows. When any of these rows is clicked, the ListView's data is regenerated. I'd like the list to scroll back to the top when this happens.
I initially tried using setSelection(0) in each row's OnClickListener to achieve this but was unsuccessful (I believe because the ListView loses its scroll position when its data is invalidated - so my call to
setSelection is undone. I still don't understand how the ListView decides where to scroll to after invalidation, though).

It involves (View.post)ing the call to _listView.setSelection(0). I found this to perform quite poorly.
The newly generated list shows up with its scroll location unchanged and there is a considerable delay before it scrolls back to the top.
Is there any better way to achieve this functionality?
In one of my projects I've got a ListView with hundreds of elements. But when scrolling through this list I get the following error:
