HTC Incredible :: Disable Flash In Stock Browser?
Sep 2, 2010I just got the OTA 2.2 update and love the speed of Froyo...it REALLY is faster that 2.1. BUT its not fast enough to run flash properly on some pages. IGN.com is one site that its just to choppy to scroll around properly. I'd rather have speed and smoothness than flash and I don't see any options to disable flash.
Anyone know if it can be disabled and where is the option? And by disable it I mean give the static image....not the green arrow in the white box. The reason is because some pages do not render properly when flash is disabled. A HUGE white box covers a lot of the screen. One example is IGN.com.
Also on a side note, everything else to me was extremely fast on 2.1 and the reason why most people can't tell 2.2 is faster is because they are looking at the fast things in 2.1 and trying to decide if its faster...which you can't really do...you have to look at whats slow. Its like seeing a car fly by...was it going 90 or 100? Hard to tell....but I'm sure you can tell between a car going 20 or 60.
Below are a couple of things in 2.2 is definetely faster than 2.1 for me.
1. Scrolling through text messages is much smoother than 2.1
2. There was a slight 1 - 2 second delay in 2.1 when going to bookmarks (using the thumbnail option)...I guess to load up the images...it is now much quicker. Also, scrolling through the thumbnail bookmarks is a lot quicker.

Oct 28, 2010Ok I went to watch a video in my browser and it said click to get flash player. I guided me to Adobe and when I clicked get player it took me to marker and its not there. I tried downloading directly from site but won't let me. Is there any other plates I can use.

Oct 13, 2010Does anyone know how/when the vibrant can get flash? I've read about v2.2 supporting it, but I don't think it's out yet. If you can install flash on the Vibrant, and anyone tell me how, or direct me to a link that says how? Secondly, there's one thing that has really been irking me about the media player. The interface when the media player is vertical works great for me, but if the player goes horizontal the interface switches from a track listing to an album listing (looks like a bunch of CDs all in a row). Is there a way to disable album listing you get when the phone is horizontally? It's really annoying to pick up my media player to change the track, and have it switch to album mode and back again because I jostled it enough to make it think it was laid on its side. This is especially annoying while running on a treadmill - the back and forth motion makes it switch between modes every single time I pick it up. If anyone knows of a way to turn off the horizontal album mode, or at the very least a way to make it manually activated only, that would help me out.

Sep 16, 2010Coming from an iPhone to the Fascinate, I've noticed that the pinch to zoom feature in the browser auto-fits the text after the zoom in. On my iPhone that didn't happen. I can see where auto-fit would come in handy, but there are times I don't want the layout of the site to change. I just want to zoom it a little - I'll happily finger scroll to the left, right, up, or down to read something.
Is there a way to disable the auto-fit on the zoom-in for the stock browser? I know there are other browsers out there, but I'm asking about the stock browser.
Perhaps this is a feature coming in 2.2?

Sep 10, 2010I just rooted my phone. I'm not new to rooting either. And when I was pulling up a file, I got this screen. Another interesting thing, is that we have a file called FlashSVGPlayer.apk embedded into the phone, and FlashPlugin.apk
Update:
FlashPlugin.apk is Pineone Flashlite Plugin.
but FlashSVGPlayer.apk is Adobe Flash Player.

I really like to phone but there are some things I can't figure out and their tech service wasn't able to answer my questions.First of all I couldn't figure out how to download my pictures from phone to my PC by using USB cable connection. I totally don't understand how USB works with it at all.Second thing, I was trying to watch some of my TV shows but I wasn't able to do so because requests to have adobe flash player. Motion of the headphone jack (e.g. while walking with phone in pocket) can be sufficient to trigger events that shut down music player or cause it to skip tracks. This is a major usability issue.

Aug 17, 2010I was on my Vibrant looking for highlights for a soccer game on youtube. When I clicked on a user's channel, the actual youtube flash player loaded. Not the phone's youtube player, but the actual in-page youtube player. That is flash, right? My phone is still on 2.1, how can this be possible?

One feature that's bugging me on the Desire, the default application for Youtube videos seems to be the HTC Flash Player, but I don't want to use this. I would prefer it if it opened with the Youtube player so I can get high quality video when viewing Youtube clips on WIFI - the HTC Flash Player has no settings or option for video quality improvement.
On my G1, every time I opened a link for Youtube (from e.g. the browser or Seesmic), it opened up the Youtube application as the default viewer.
