Sprint HTC Hero :: Detailed Calendar - Tasks Info
Oct 9, 2009As you can see from my sig below, I'm a longtime PalmOS user. webOS has some nice features, but unfortunately the PIM apps are a major step backward from the PalmOS versions. SO, now I'm considering switching from webOS to Android and the Sprint Hero. The key for me is finding some detailed description or screenshots or video that show how to create events in the Android calendar and how to manage tasks. I really need a step-by-step explanation so that I can judge whether Android will be more efficient than webOS in using the calendar. I do like what HTC has done with Sense and Scenes, which would help me keep my calendar more easily accessible than in webOS.

Well I've had alot of people messaging me about converters for music, video, photos etc and I decided to just post up a thread for people to ask questions if they need to. Anyways, the best converter that I could reccomend, HANDS DOWN for any needs whether they be for your phone or not is the SUPERC converter which can be found here
With it you can convert virtually any media type into any other media type. For starters here are some steps...
1. Drag your file to be converted into the que.
2. Double click on it to bring up the detailed info.
3. Select the output you want from the drag down menu at the top left
4. Match up the info for the video and audio (if applicable) to the details you brought up about the clip. Yes this is a bit techy, but its really simple, just read and click on the buttons. If your framerate or bitrate doesnt match up, always pick the lower one. I.E: If you have a framrate of 96, and the options are 108 and 90, always pick the lowest of the two.
5. Just click convert! and wait until it gives you an output file size!
Yes it may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but its great to be able to convert anything into, well, anything. I use it for all my converting needs, and even if your not a techy person, even if you dont know what a bitrate is (shame on you! haha jk) its still a great program which is easy to use, whether you have circuit boards instead of brains or not.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Data Roaming And Data Traffic
Nov 15, 2010With the 2.1 upgrade, I have a little question about mobile network settings.I do not have 3G and do not have a monthly data plan. In 1.6, all I had to do was tick off "data roaming" in the Mobile Network Settings to make sure I do not ever connect to the 3G network.In 2.1, there are "Data Roaming" and "Data Traffic". If I were to tick off "Data Roaming", would that mean that the "Data Traffic" is no longer in use either, even if its ticked on? I do not want to tick off the "Data Traffic" option because it leaves a huge ugly picture on the notification bar.Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I do not want an abundance phone bill due to this!

I hope for the best having limited my traffic as much as possible, but I want to know in advance. I used the very nice app NetCounter but it didn't measure roaming data traffic at all.So I want to build my own app measuring just roaming data traffic. I have a few booleans to start with ( NetworkInfo.IsRoaming() & TelephonyManager. isNetworkRoaming() ), but I'm not sure how to measure the traffic if true.So the question is: How do I measure data traffic while roaming? (Something like API level 8 TrafficStats functionality is what I'm after, but for API level 3). The used SmartPhone is Samsung Galaxy i7500 (Android 1.6)

Nov 18, 2010I'm just trying to work through my phone after updating to 2.1, it's like having a new phone and starting all over again! On the new 2.1 if you got to Settings, Wireless and Network, Mobile Networks....the top two are "Data Roaming" and "Date Traffic". Is DATA TRAFFIC equivalent to the Internet/MMS application on 1.6? If I click Yes to Data Traffic it warns me that "addtional charges may apply....." etc etc. I didn't get that warning on 1.6? Is this just the standard internet connection?

Dec 21, 2009How do I save info. So new to pda and love my eris but some reason I was in below freezing weather and screen timed out then a bunch of lines came on phone and wont go away. V is sending me a new phone since I have only had it 2 weeks so no worries there.
My question is will have to enter all my calender info, contacts, pics and apps I installed all over again or is there away I can save all of that info. I have videos music etc., also on it.
HTC Droid Eris :: Mobile Network ON - Can't See That Have Any Network Traffic Or Any Apps Running In Background That Are Syncing Data At All
May 29, 2010My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

Mar 29, 2010I've been curious as to all the optimizations that go into the building of an .apk. I'm curious because of two things I've tried in the past to bring down the size of my .apk:
I have had a few large json assets in projects before, as well as a static sqlite database. I tried bringing down the size of the apk by gzipping them before the build process, but the resulting size is exactly the same.
I just today tried pngcrush on my /drawable/ folders. The resulting build was exactly the same size as before.
I would think that perhaps #1 could be explained by the zip process, but simply zipping the /drawable/ folders in #2 result in different-sized files. Perhaps the build process runs something akin to pngcrush?
Regardless, I was wondering if anyone knew where to find a detailed description of all the optimizations in the Android build process. I don't want to waste my time trying to optimize what is already automated, and also I think it'd help my understanding of the resulting apk.
