In my Android dev phone I have a requirement to implement - On power up Radio interface (GSM in my case) is up and any data traffic (e.g. ping, http, etc) goes through radio interface. When I turned on Wifi I need to shift all data traffic (except voice/voip) into WiFi channel. Does Cupcake/Donut support this kind of handoff?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith the 2.1 upgrade, I have a little question about mobile network settings.I do not have 3G and do not have a monthly data plan. In 1.6, all I had to do was tick off "data roaming" in the Mobile Network Settings to make sure I do not ever connect to the 3G network.In 2.1, there are "Data Roaming" and "Data Traffic". If I were to tick off "Data Roaming", would that mean that the "Data Traffic" is no longer in use either, even if its ticked on? I do not want to tick off the "Data Traffic" option because it leaves a huge ugly picture on the notification bar.Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I do not want an abundance phone bill due to this!

I used the very nice app NetCounter but it didn't measure roaming data traffic at all.So I want to build my own app measuring just roaming data traffic. I have a few booleans to start with ( NetworkInfo.IsRoaming() & TelephonyManager. isNetworkRoaming() ), but I'm not sure how to measure the traffic if true.So the question is: How do I measure data traffic while roaming? I was also able to restore my device in under 30 minutes! This ROM, so far, is awesome!Anyhow, can anyone link me the apk's for the HTC FM radio (I actually use it, lol) and Google Navigator 1.0.Other than that, I am loving my EVO even more.

On the new 2.1 if you got to Settings, Wireless and Network, Mobile Networks....the top two are "Data Roaming" and "Date Traffic". Is DATA TRAFFIC equivalent to the Internet/MMS application on 1.6? If I click Yes to Data Traffic it warns me that "addtional charges may apply....." etc etc. I didn't get that warning on 1.6? Is this just the standard internet connection?

Even wen it is set to 'eneabled' my fone will now not:
- roam for signal
- download apps
It was never there to start with and everthing was fine!

My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Milestone 3 (Droid 3) from Alltel (the Alltel that was divested from the Verizon buyout), who is actually Atlantic Telecom Network. They are a great local carrier who has the best coverage in my area.
I rooted the phone, installed various wireless tether apps but whenever I use any of them, I instantly lose my 3G data connection along with a message that says "3G data link lost". Sometimes is comes back right after turning the hotspot off and other times I have to reboot. It never happened with Verizon.
Can't seem to figure out how to do it.

I was recently on an airplane that had WiFi wireless connectivity (Delta using GoGo). I had my Moment and wanted to try it out. The problem is that the only way I could find to turn off the cell radio, as required by the FAA, is by putting the phone into "Airplane Mode". But, in Airplane mode, I could not get the WiFi to turn on.
So, what I really wanted was not "Airplane mode" but WiFi on and Cell Radio turned off. But I could not figure out any way to do that. Is it possible?

My N1 was sitting on my desk 5 bars 3G and WiFi on. I went to send a text and it failed. Tried a different number and it failed. Tried making phone calls and nothing happened. Turned off the WiFi and noticed I had 5 bars but no 3G or E symbol. I just got a network error when trying to access web pages. I rebooted the phone and it was fine. If this happens I will not know it and miss important calls, sms etc Still got data on the wifi. If this happens again I am going to have to switch back to my trusty iPhone. As much as I want to love the radio software/reception has some serious issues. Based on research on the forums I don't think it is my unit thats faulty esp since a reboot fixed it. I realy hope HTC/Google releases a better radio FW for this device or its going back within the 30 days.

Phone and Bluetooth are both ok Our two laptops and the wireless printer have no problems. Everything else about this newly-rooted phone is terrific. What could I have done that degraded the WiFi radio? What can I do to get WiFi back?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a WebView in my Android App that is loading an HTML string using the loadDataWithBaseURL() method. The problem is that local anchor links (<a href="#link">...) are not working correctly. When the link is clicked, it becomes highlighted, but does not scroll to the corresponding anchor.
This also does not work if I use the WebView's loadUrl() method to load a page that contains anchor links. However, if I load the same URL in the browser, the anchor links do work.
Is there any special handling required to get these to work for a WebView?
I am using API v4 (1.6).

I'm wondering if on an android device there's a way to force it to keep open a wifi connection that is not used for data, for example to a Seagate Goflex Satellite (WiFi HDD) or eye-fi (WiFi SDHC) while also being simultaneously connected to 3G for data. Obviously connecting to 2 wifi connections is out of the question.

Anyone else experiencing this? I did find if I turn off bluetooth and wifi(even though im not using it) it doesn't seem to happen nearly as often. Maybe its a heat issue?
