Can someone explain to me why my phone is showing 2 different ROM names. the ACTUAL ROM thats installed is Aloysius and i know this becuase the icons and layout difference between Fresh and Aloysius.
if you look under CURRENT ROM in RM it says Fresh, but under Build, it says the Aloysius. Both updates are available for the ROMs and i dont know which one to do.

I have been using Handcent for 2 days and didn't have any problems until last night. Its now showing only the phone number instead of the contact name. Has anyone had this problem? Any way to fix it?

I am running rooted stock Android 2.3 on LG E405 (no working 4.x ROMs exist for the device)
I have two questions:
1) What is the shell command to manually make android allow the PC to mount androids' (internal) partition as USB-drive? (I cannot think of right keywords to google this one up - )
2) How does android determine which partition is which (i.e. which one to remount for the PC when connecting in "USB storage" mode), beside vold.fstab and init.rc? On android 2.3 that info is not in "framework-res.apk", so where is it? In the partition table itself?
I had switched data partition with internal sdcard partition.
Here's how: Phone had a very small "/data" partition on /dev/block/mmcblk0p21 and large internal "/sdcard" partition on mmcblk0p20
So I reformatted mmcblk0p20 (ex-sdcard partition) into EXT4 and mmcblk0p21 (ex-data partition) into FAT32
Then I changed init.rc to mount mmcblk0p20 as /data type EXT4 and mmcblk0p21 as /sdcard type VFAT (mounting /sdcard was commented out in stock init.rc for some reason). This required modifying my boot image.
I have also set correct partition number in vold.fstab:
[#]dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host[/#]
So basicly I now have a large /data partition and small internal /sdcard. I'm able install up to a gigabyte of APKs and it works fine.
However, when I connect to my PC via USB into "USB Storage" mode, the phone seems to still try to unmount what was previously sdcard partition (/dev/block/mmcblk0p20), instead of what is NOW an sdcard partition (/dev/block/mmcblk0p21) I can still send files to the phone via wi-fi and ADB, but the ability to mount it directly would be nice.
If I accidentally select "erase internal sdcard" from storage menu, that will also most likely erase what is now my /data partition, softbricking the phone. The "factory reset" option will probably only corrupt the sdcard.
It just doesn't print anything..it's empty.

The app shows up when browsing the market on the Motorola Droid and others but does not appear when browsing with either the HTC Evo or Droid Incredible. Is this due to the copy protection? I have just started using my new HTC Desire (Android 2.2) and am having a problem with my Google calendar not showing up.
If I go to Settings > Accounts & sync, my Gmail and contacts show up, but no calendar.
If I set a new calendar event in my google calendar on my PC, the phone gives me a reminder on the notification bar, but does not show up on the calendar.
I have tried removing and re-registering the google account on the phone, but the calendar will still not show. Any ideas?

Let me explain : When I go on PEOPLE I see my contacts there , if I click on them I cant see any phone number or mail nothing it just show me the contact name then under the name I see DETAILS then INFORMATION and down I can read ringtone and send to voicemail and then last Edit. I have an Incredible. It has 8GB of internal storage and I've installed an 8GB microSD card. When I plug the thing in via USB, I have two drives that appear on Windows. One shows total capacity of 6.59GB and the other is 7.39GB. I guess my question is: I think I understand that the 7.39GB one is the microSD card. It's getting full. It appears that everything gets stored there. My question is, why do I have a 6.59GB drive available that never seems to get used? Is the purpose to manually put MP3s and such on this instead of the microSD card? With 2.2 (SkyRaider ROM), can I move apps to this internal storage?

For some reason, my computer was saying that the phone wouldn't accept those kind of files. So, I tried to do it the old fashion way, which is using the USB cable, but when I connect the phone to my computer, the computer won't recognize it. It charges the phone, but won't show the drive. View 8 Replies View RelatedI plug my phone into my pc using the usb port then it doesnt do anything so I have to hit the drop down menu on the vibrant and click "mount phone" is that correct? then on my pc it bring up the menu where it says "open folder to view files" ..I do that and then I open the folder "dcim" which contains another folder that says "photos" and I open that and it shows my pictures that are on the phone...Then I take the pictures that I want on my pc to my phone and drag and drop them into that "photos" folder and they go in on the pc properly but when I go to my phone and try to open them they arent showing there.
