So I have an HTC Hero (1.5) and was wondering if there is any way to change the default picture that pops up when a caller calls or you have an outgoing call. The little alien picture bugs me.

When I set a picture for the caller id/contacts in my phone and that person calls or I call them the picture is crap quality. Why? How do I fix this? The factory Android picture is good quality, why are my phones pure crap?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm greatly annoyed by GoogleDialer's phone app which shows caller picture blocked 50% by black blank area. What files do I have to edit to make picture more bigger or atleast make that blank space disappear?
I know that I could simply get another dialer but I like Google's version. That blank space just bugs me.
On the Droid X, the caller ID which is synced from my Facebook or Google account is very low quality and small in size/dimensions. Is there not a setting to show high res quality and to make it appear larger on the screen? I just switched from the Evo and know that it was a similar issue on there. just curious if there is a known work around for the Droid X. Other than that, I am very happy with this phone so far. The build quality is much much better than the Evo's.

When I call my phone from another phone it only rings four to five times before it goes to voicemail. However, when I call my wife's eris it rings six to seven times before sending to voicemail.My phone is on v3 leak and my wifes is a stock 1.5.This is really frustrating because it already takes at least two rings from the other end before my phone even acknowledges someone is calling...and yes i've changed my slot cycle down to zero...so by the time it starts ringing the ringtone only lasts about five to ten secs.not enough time at all to even try to answer.
View 32 Replies View RelatedI have all my contacts in Gmail and sync'd with facebook on my desire.Some contacts I have images in google too (which are low res as we all know).I used Facebook Sync (or fbSync) from the market to pull images from facebook and upload to Gmail.This appears to work fine.Out of the contacts that have images for facebook and google contacts, some default to using the FB image (which is what I want) and some default to google.I need google images because HulloMail VVM only uses gmail contacts so I don't get a contact image unless I have a gmail ones for my voicemails.I have tried to find a trend between the contacts that default to google and those which don't but have been unsuccessful in finding one. I have tried turning off contacts sync but also to no avail.Has anyone else had this issue, or has anyone got any idea on what could be causing this please? I've been trawling the web for too long now and can't find any reference to this issue at all.

She uses the built-in android music player and wants to change the picture that is used when it plays a file that does not have any album art associated with it. It's usually like something with a colored background and a music note.
Here's the problem. She had to have the phone replaced and got a refurb. Well whoever owned the phone before somehow changed the default picture to a photo of...well...his package. Maybe not his but it's someone's junk. It makes it kind of awkward whenever an unassociated song plays and the screen shows someone. She was able to find the original picture and delete it but it still shows up so it's got to be hidden somewhere. I've looked through the file structure and can't find it.
How to change this picture back to something more PG?
I have contact pictures for my contacts that I have chosen and assigned to my contacts manually and are stored as the Google contact picture, I have an issue with the facebook app when it syncs a facebook profile picture update the application forces the contacts default picture to be the facebook picture.
I don't want it to do this, it can change the facebook linked contact picture but why does it have to change the contacts default picture?? Is there some way this can be blocked or stopped from within Android contacts??
This has been prevalent since before I can remember with the facebook app and sync. Surely submitting a bug to facebook is not the solution as we SHOULD be able to control and/or lock portions of our contacts details..
I am new to this phone and so far so good.Working things out and getting it set up like I want it. I have two photograph widgets on one of my screens, one set up for newly taken pictures and one set up for newly shot video. The only problem is, I don't know how to change the default video save location. I am using the astro file manager and have seen that all videos and pictures save into a file named DCIM on my SD card. How do I change this to make it save pictures and videos into different files?I have made a different file for my videos and manually moved them into the folder but the phone is still saving new videos to the same old default place.

I just synced with app brain and immediately afterwords received about 7 messages saying my credit card was billed. i was able to stop 3 of them. (by the way this was app that i didn't buy, have on my phone, or ever even heard of for that matter) now verizon is telling me that the only way to change the default account is to do a hard reset, which we all know, but then also said that unless i put the original account back on the phone, i wont be able to get the apps that I DID pay for, without buying them again....THAT is bullshit! the apps should be associated with the phone number, not a freaking email account. does anyone know if there is anyways around this?

I am writing an app that has a consistent code base, but has different resources that make it a new "app". My ant script copies AndroidManifest.xml, res and assets dirs for a particular app prior to kicking off the build. This approach works great if all the apps have the same application package name. However, I want to be able to install more than one app from this common code base, so I must change the application package name. If I change the package names in each AndroidManifest.xml, then R.java gets generated with the new package name. This causes all my references to the resources constants in my common code base to throw an error. It would be great if I could specify the package name I want aapt to use when generating R.java. Does anyone know if this is possible?
