Jan 23, 2014I'm using a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105
I used to use the Samsung Keyboard with English and the Chinese language input (downloaded in it's language settings).
But after a hard rest (My phone had recently updated itself to 4.3 with no change) I no longer have Chinese as a downloadable language.
WHY is this so annoying... Becuase if I use another keyboard that has chinese I can't swap between it and the Samsung Keyboard in Keyboard. The Samsung has to be selects in the phone setting and can't be selected as one of many keyboards.
The reason why I wish to use the Samsung keyboard is becuase of its great swipe input function. I have not found another keyboard that has swipe in English and Chinese input funtionality.
Which means I can never using any combo of keyboards swap easily from chinese to swipe english keyboard.
I think It has something to do with the locale version of the 4.3 android os. I heard that different locales have different downloadable language options. But why has mine sudenly changed!
General :: ICS Timezones Names And Default Language?
Jul 14, 2012I added the files to transfer to Settings.apk timezones.xml.
value-ru -> timezones.xml. But when I go into settings and try to select the time zone, I get an error and closing applications. Perhaps it is because the firmware that originally there were only two Chinese language and English.
Q: How do I file and where to throw, what would I be able to choose a time zone setting of the chosen AT MY LANGUAGE.

Jun 18, 2012I would like to change my region/language setting independently from the general LANGUAGE-SETTING in settings !!!
Ok that means i dont care about the language my apps will be displayed in as long as it is english "which should be in every rom.."
But i do care about the region they are set in... means when i start MIUI News/Weather (geniewidget.apk) I want to see News from Germany and temperature in Celsius..
When I play "who-becomes-rich" I want Euro for currency! and so on ...
Is there any way to set the region like that ? (build.prop or anything else..?)
Im using MIUI v4 with my G-Nex.

Mar 8, 2010I am developing an Android App which communicated with a server. User can select a language of his choice at startup or during the App execution lifetime. After selecting the language, the corresponding XML file is downloaded from server according to language which will map the "Values" of Application strings according to that language. Can I do something like replacing the default Strings.xml which contains English names(Say by default) to the language selected by user. Better will be adding an XML file per language and referring it runtime directly.

Android does not seem to offer the possibility to quickly change the input language of the keyboard. It looks like UI language both determines keyboard layout and input language, which is EXTREMELY inconvenient for someone using several languages on a daily basis. Does it exist a workaround, an external app or a feature I oversaw to solve this MAJOR drawback?

May 20, 2010I just bought an unlocked HTC Desire from Hong Kong. I haven't put a sim card in it yet as I'm waiting for my old plan to live out its contract, but I couldn't resist having a play with the Desire in the mean time Because I bought it from overseas I can only seem to set my default language as English and then in brackets many Asian country options, eg English (Thailand) and English (Singapore). This would be fine except it is becoming frustrating when typing because all of the predictive text etc has many Asian characters in it and I'm struggling to write accurately.I've tried turning off predictive text and 'check invalid sequence', but it doesnt seem to work? I also tried downloading the application 'more locale 2' which had english (australian) but it doesnt seem to affect the keyboard. Does anyone have any advice regarding how to change the initial language setting? Is there any chance that when I put an Australian sim card into it the language options will change?
